Same for me.

I never touched dmx lights until Denon pushed me to do it with engine lighting

Same.

I also built some LED strip DMX around the Ikea Kallax that the decks stand on. Along with the two moving heads it gave me a hours of fun with SoundSwitch.

how well do the drawers sit or fix

If you go for them, they just drop in to the empty slots on the Kallax and sit flush.

I’ve got a short video showing the LED strips & SoundSwitch. It’s poor quality and the audio was just bleeding from headphones but you’ll get the general idea.

Looks amazing! :+1:

How have you set it up?

What device have you choose in soundswitch ?

It was a little project that I set up last year during lockdown after seeing other ideas online.

Currently it is all running from Engine Lighting from the Prime 4. The LED strips are running from an LED DMX decoder that outputs 30 channels (10 x RGB). I have five additional unused channels on the DMX decoder but set to a ‘secondary’ RGB fixture in SoundSwitch so they have a different light output. Eventually I’ll have more LED tape added and they’ll just work without scripting the tracks again.

Products used:

  • Aluminium profile strips in black (pack of six)
  • 12V RGB LED tape with a black PCB (15m)
  • 30 Channel LED DMX decoder
  • 12V 10A power supply
  • A few LED tape connectors

The total cost was around £100, including the SoundSwitch Micro (it was an open-box warehouse deal for £12!).

Great work. You inspired me. I had one dmx decoder in the cellar, took an old led strip ….

This :clap:t2:

I also have an LED strip around the back that strobes when I loop roll. Nice touch!

I used one of these which gave me ten LED strips to put wherever I liked and chose the front of the Kallax: 30 channel DMX LED Controller DC9V-24V – BTF-LIGHTING

That’s a really affordable price!

It’s not too bad but they are ‘ALWAYS’ on sale. I think I paid £28 for mine.

You can add the LED strips around pretty much anything like frames, boxes, stands… the list goes on. Each individual strip in SoundSwitch can be set to ‘wash’, ‘primary’, ‘secondary’ & ‘tertiary’ so I grouped them together into different types of light output so I get a different show depending on what part of the track is on. I’m going to put three LED strips horizontal across the Kallax set to secondary so the vertical strips do one thing and the horizontal strip do another.

Awesome setup! What name brand did you use for the LED strips? Also, do you have the link of where you purchased your LED strips? TIA

It was just standard 12v RGB LED tape with a black PCB. It was five meters of 50/50 for around £12. It’s out of stock now but Amazon and Ebay are full of them and as long as you use 12v LED tape it will work. Here is the stuff that I used: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BJY2XL1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here is the aluminium profile strips: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08F9P5JB9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A few extensions and connectors (depending on what you want to do with them): Amazon.co.uk : led rgb connector

Here was the power supply that i used: UK Plug AC100-240V DC 12V 2A -10A Power Supply Transformer Adapter For LED Strip | eBay But there is more here if you are getting the DMX decoder from the same place: Power Supply – BTF-LIGHTING

Just remember to get a 12v one if you’re using 12v LEDs (the DMX decoder from BTF doesn’t do 5v LED strips).

I think I used a 120W which you can also get in this style: https://www.amazon.co.uk/100-240VAC-Switching-Converter-Transformer-Computer/dp/B092VK6NVW/ref=sr_1_29?crid=IAT9J9Z3UJ91&keywords=led%2Bpower%2Bsupply%2B12v&qid=1637346673&sprefix=led%2Bpower%2Caps%2C247&sr=8-29&th=1

You will need an LED strip power calculation and it will tell you the supply to use. Here is an explanation: https://www.instyleled.co.uk/calculating-led-tape-power/ Here is a calculator: https://lamphq.com/led-power-supply-guide/

You could probably get really creative and substitute the LED tape for LED neon like this by cutting the little connector off and connecting the wires directly onto the DMX decoder terminals https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185117672428?hash=item2b19df83ec:g:FBUAAOSwx~tg9TUy

I’m sure there is something that I missed but I thought I would put it all together for you!

I hope so. LED lighting isn’t too expensive and if people are competent in LED strip experimentation then £100/$100/€100 will get you a pretty cool lightship and be a fun project to play with.

Either that or for many people a Black Friday sale on some Philips Hue stuff would be suffice!

Stereo Dreamer, IMO you have the best mixer. What is the weight on the center of the turntables for and where did you get it?

Outstanding sound proofing, very detailed.

Yes, there are. What info You want to know?

I’m looking at getting the genelecs for my Mac as I have the same set up as you for my DJ rig.

How do they sound? I love how compact they are.
