Hey folks, I’ve got an issue with my aprime go where the device updated lost power and is now stuck on 2 bank lights, 2 mic lights and is unable to power off unless battery is depleted.
I have tried to hold the load buttons from power on once the battery runs out to allow me to do a restart.
Any help would be appreciated, but a support ticket has been raised already with inMusic, but wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with this.
If you hold the left and right load buttons then tap the power button it maybe able to start up in update mode if you’re connected to a computer via USB.
I appreciate if you’ve tried it already but it’s worth persevering as being connected with USB could help.
Make sure you’ve downloaded the USB update and have it open on your computer and see what happens.
I’ll try connected to the laptop/usb already next time. Because of it not being able to turn off through the power switch, each attempt takes some time to do.
I did notice that when I hold the load buttons for some time, the whole devices button flicker once very quickly, and then return to nothing nn screen until I let go of the load buttons or I hold the load buttons for a whole
Yup, I have other Denon devices so I am aware of how that works, but I don’t want to pin this on a hardware fault just yet as the device still goes through full light up sequence, so I’m hoping on to it just being software. I’ve raised tickets to inMusic Support already but was hoping for any help from the community if this has been experienced before.
Makes sense, did the button combination ever change depending on Firmware version? I don’t actually know what firmware version its on as I bought it secondhand with this issue so it was a risk I wanted to take due to the price I paid.
Hopefully you’ll be able to get it to boot via cable but I don’t think that the USB method would do it as it won’t go as far as the image of a little computer chip updating on the screen.
I could be wrong though so best of luck. Let us know how it goes.
Cheers, I’ll give the device a bit more juice this time, as I’ve been playing around with it at low battery because of how long it takes to deplete.
The only time the screen shows anything is the small flicker when I hold the Load buttons and power on. It doesn’t flicker when I try to boot the device without the button hold, but it goes through the light up sequence.
Is there any life in the screen at all? Is there image? Remember to keep your fingers on the button combination for a bit. Usually until the image pops up (if it even does).
You should see an image like the one in the link. It should have the Engine DJ logo and an icon of a processor at the very bottom. That indicates that it’s successful in putting the unit into firmware update mode.
If there’s no image then I would look closely at the screen. See if you see any life like a backlight or flicker. It could be that the unit has a ribbon connector off inside or someone put it back the wrong way around. If you bought it like this then it could have been tinkered with inside by the previous owner.
This is just what I’d do but I could be way out with it.
Thanks, I’ll charge the device a bit longer and will attempt this again. The device does react different when holding these buttons like I mentioned, the screen flickers briefly but can’t see anything after that until I release the buttons then it goes through the light up process and back to the bank buttons being lit
Also remember that the unit needs to be on a power supply at all times during a firmware update and ensure it’s the correct power supply. I once had one that was using a Lite-On HDD power supply and while it started up, it wouldn’t do a firmware update. Having the official power supply (or at least identical power requirements) is essential for these devices.
Try and get 100% power into it and see how you go.
My mac does recognise there’s a device connected as I’ve turned on the setting that asks for permission when a device connects. Is there a another key combination I could use, or a diagnosis on what the 2 bank and mic buttons mean?
Like I said, I do have a support ticket open with inMusic already, and I’ve already tried their AI chatbot and it has similar solutions to whats already presented now.
So I’ve opened the bottom up, is it safe to take the battery out or should I wait for it to deplete? I fully charged it out so I thinking I should leave it but it will take hours I’m sure. Is there a power kill switch in these units as I can’t power down even when holding the power button for minutes
Connect unit to power adapter and PC. There is a button somewhere near edge on backside of the AZ01 CR PCB called “recovery”. Press and hold it than press power btn. That should put the device in recovery and it can be updated via PC update.
So I disconnected the battery, held the recovery button whilst powering on, but I still end up at the 2 bank lights, and the firmware updater apps still don’t recognise the machine
