What was the last DJ related item you bought?

Analog really is where it’s at!! That’s what keeps me on my Xone and Ecler mixers, and why I just bought a Condesa.

Anolaog is the vibe for sure - now your gonna make me look at getting a Home Loan to buy a Condensa - When I saw the line up of Carmens ( My Mom’s Name ) i was like … oooohhhh and Wood Trim

I wanted a Carmen V, but Mehdi wasn’t interested in adding a crossfader to it, so I settled for a Lucia X. Maybe one day he’ll be more open to the idea.

Oh, I don’t have the Warm2 (I tried to buy it though), I have the Classic NUO4. I dug it back out of the closet because my Xone:96 recently got liquid damage :’( and is currently being repaired. Some stupid, drunk girl spilled her sugary beer all over the face of my X:96…ughh!

My ‘Lucia X’ won’t be finished til’ mid to late July, so that’s gonna be a while…

But I envy you for that UK built Rotary X:92…I tried haggling with a seller for one several years ago, but he wanted waaay too much for it, so I declined. Part of me wishes I would have just taken him up on his offer. It was extremely MINT!! One of my close friends has one, and it’s hella’ fun to mix on!

Did you not like the Master Sounds Radius 4v ?

That is rotary with a cross fader.

Naw, I heard a demo of many different Rotaries, and to me, the Condesa sounded best to my ears. I like the ‘colored’ sound it produces. Listen to this video with the best, most transparent set of headphones and/or monitors you have. Yes, I know that YT vids are compressed to shite, but you can still pick out the differences in the mixers’ ‘character’.

After 18 months (!) with a mousemat as “protection”, the LC6000 is finally better protected:

Whats the VU meter called. Looks great. Has it multi selectable peak state and show true RMS?

A white setup looks the nuts :muscle:

2 SC 6000Ms and X1850.

Thanks

It’s this one here: AliExpress

It’s not very accurate, more a toy but it doesn’t matter. It looks cool :sunglasses:

I’ve always wanted an RTW meter, so I eventually bought two second-hand. One analog and one digital. They are so accurate and fast with 201 segments per channel.

Those look great!! I ended up selling my LC6000, but the whole time I had it, I emailed Decksaver several times to get off their backsides and make these…probably annoyed the hell out of them, lol.

Have you got a sound system to marry up to these ‘differences’ ?

I don’t doubt the condessa sounds amazing, but is it £2000 more amazing? Or is that part of the allure? “My mixer costs £3500” sounds better than ‘my mixer costs £1500” right?

I’m not sure that YouTube video (that we have all seen) is to be used as a benchmark.

Again, the only thing the YT vid does is show the subtle nuances in each mixer’s character. Plus, I have heard a Condesa on a Function One system at a party I went to a few years back, so I know it sounds incredible. But, no, I do not have some amazing sound system…yet. I am also working on building that up as well. I’m not filthy rich, so it has to be done piece by piece.

No, I didn’t spend thousands of dollars for bragging rights. Dick!

Why do yo have to be such a douchebag?!? You know, I always try to be respectful, and courteous to peeps on forums and such, but you are constantly abrasive, and frankly I’m sick of reading it. Every response of yours is some smartass comment. I don’t give a damn if I am punished for saying this. Mods can kick me off the forum. Don’t care anymore. You’re a fuuking asshole and it’s high time you’re called on on it!! By the way, I went on your Mixcloud and had a listen. Your mixes and selection are great, yet surprisingly you DO NOT represent the beauty and soul of the music you play. You’re an fraud.

You know what, fuuck this forum. I’ve been noticing more and more peeps like you chiming in, and frankly the forum’s sense of community is suffering as a result. The world’s going to shite, and yet peeps like you are making it worse…

I’ve had enough, I’m out.

Lol, seems like someone has reacted unkindly to being called out.

The fact is you’re a gearhead, you won’t admit it because they never do… you have bought and sold/spent more on gear in the last 2 years than I have in 22 years, it’s completely reasonable to assume that you want to buy stuff for ‘bragging rights’.

People like you are the problem with these forums, all you ever do is nit pick about meaningless features that take all the fun away from mixing… and now you’re crying like a baby because someone called you out on your ridiculous addiction to saving money on the highest end gear that hits the market. Why don’t you teach yourself to avoid GAS then spend some of that wasted money on investing in a good sound system to listen to your music through, none of us here are rich, some of us just know how not to waste cash on looking the part.

Be kind gents. And respectful.

All DJ’s are gearheads. I don’t know a DJ who isn’t. The amount of money a DJ has got or hasn’t got, is never an issue. We will always find a way to get gear. :smirk_cat:

Not sure I entirely agree with that Reese, much like photography you have those who always find some inane excuse to have the latest and greatest gear, then you have the others who are more interested in the artistic side of the pastime… I’m an amateur photographer too and the 2 worlds have many many parallels.

One thing rings true between them, the people who are obsessed with gear need to take a step back and start looking at what they do from a more artistic/creative perspective. The same people moaning about irrelevant features on these forums are the same people arguing over how sharp a lens is on photography forums after reading some charts and graphs that measure it… all completely missing the point.

My 1210s turn 20 this year(probably older than half this forum), my HD-25s are 11 years old, I bought the DDJ-SP1 used, my MacBook is 7yrs old. Admittedly I have a new mixer and FX unit and a Prime 2 but I’d hardly put myself into the gearhead category, that would be hugely unfair.

So, in essence, your point of view is the one we should all adhere to…

I could say you’re just a “jealous, poor and grieving old man that lives in the past”. But then this forum wouldn’t be a fun engaging place, now would it??

I’m 47 and my SL is about 31 years old. I like new gear and the possibilities it gives me, but I choose not to use sync for instance. Should I go and attack every sync using forum member to learn and use their ears like some of us do?

Sasha, Martin Garrix and Tiesto haven’t produced a single track of their own in their entire lives either. I should be jealous of their unrightfully obtained bank accounts as well…

I don’t want to censor posts, but some topics could use some to keep this forum enjoyable for EVERYONE!

I mean, im 6 years younger than you so id say middle aged man rather than old:)

Its not about that at all though, and we are here to provide our points of view, I don’t expect anyone to agree with them.

The fact is the guy above has bought a pair of SC6000s and an LC6000 then found some absolutely ridiculous excuse for them not to be suitable anymore (something about external hard drive formats) so he could justify buying CDJ-3000s, he now wants to swap the 6000s out for motorised versions and claims to have just waxed the best part of $4000 on a Rotary mixer whilst also owning a Xone 96, then in his rant to me he admits not even owning decent speakers to play music through, so 15 grand down on gear and not a penny spent on sound.

I don’t care what people spend their money, im just offering an opinion about why I think it’s a problem and why it may be missing the point. To deny that people exist who buy gear purely for status and bragging rights would be foolish, and sorry, this guy is prime candidate for that.

P.S. on the sync thing, I would say advising anyone who plans on relying on it not to, would be great advice, and nothing anyone says to try and change my mind, will change it.
