So because of the expansion of my live act and collaboration with my good old friend, I added another Akai Force to my gear set. So I decided to try out a bit different type of Djing… let the fun begin!
The force is definitely with you! Apparently Akai have stopped production, at least for now, so grab 'em while you can, I guess.
Did, and I got it 50% off the price
Everybody is a DJ until…
Well, my last performance was not close to any djing My setup had only 2 dj related products actually…
The cdj on the very left was not attached to my setup.
I use one on mine in combo with a Magma case, its the same setup i had with my SX2 and its worked a charm, far less weight than a flight case too.
Pads porn here!
I think you need more pads!
Yes, I plan to buy the MPC in near future
How does the audio routing of that lot work? I can see at least seven sound sources…
It is rather simple, as both MPC One and Force are also having inputs and mixers build in.
But let me explain:
Left side - my setup:
- Akai Force goes to Xone 96 on channel 1.
- TD-3-MO goes to one of the inputs in Akai Force for mix and processing.
- Edge goes to Zoom MS-50G pedal, then to channel 2 in Xone 96.
- Crave goes to Zoom MS-70CDR pedal and then to channel 3 in Xone 96.
- All 3 synths get midi via usb for clock and sequencing.
Right side - setup from my collab friend:
- Akai MPC One plus goes to Xone 96 on channel 4
- TD-3 goes to input 1 in MPC
- Crave goes to input 2 in MPC
- Both synths get midi via usb for clock and sequencing.
- MPC and Force are linked via LAN cable for Ableton link.
- Midi controllers to control mixer functions inside Force - 2x Xone k2.
- Midi controller for adjusting internal synth parameters in Force - Novation Launch control
- MPC one mixer and FX control - Novation Launch control XL mk2.
My RMX1000 is plugged in to master insert of Xone 96 for master FX (buildups / breakdowns).
The SC Live range aren’t the same as the Prime range. That Prime heritage gives a much better build quality. More ‘pro’ with a metal faceplate and screens within the jogs etc. Features like built in speakers on the Live were aimed more at those live streaming DJs that could take their gear out and gig with and had that ‘club standard’ mixer layout.
I have a Prime 4 and at work we pitched it against the new SC Live 4 we had installed. The Prime range is definitely top tier in a side-by-side. The Engine interface is the same but the control surface is much better on the Prime series.
RD-9 analog and digital drum machine.
I’m really happy with it because of play/pause button, record and tempo bpm detection of internal and external clock. Return mono jack is also available for external effects and basically separated voices of drums sounds.
I don’t like these 12 drums sounds I wanted to replace to own clap, snare and kick but looks like it’s not possible to program more snare, claps and kicks inside standalone drum machine. It also supports Midi messages over usb cable so this device might be good idea to use with mobile softwares as midi.
For any of you vinyl DJ’s, Now Spinning is closing down after the new year and is having a closeout sale. It’s pretty niche stuff but thought I’d post here. Now Spinning Record Stands
Do You know that RD-9 is easy to mod for improving the sound and extending the control possibilities of each sound? I am busy with modding the RD-8 mk1 at the moment. Then MK2 is next, and RD-9 will get modded later.
two recent purchases:
-
My DENON PRIME GO crossfader went dodgy for the second time, and this time out of warranty, so now upgraded to an INNOFADER. So far so good!
-
Replaced ATH-M50x earpads again (this is about the 3rd or 4th set)…

No pics unfortunately. Just bought software . Bought a program called Dj Studio. It’ll take me at least 3 weeks of work to get a hang of it.
DJ Studio looks awesome. I’m tempted to get it, too.
It was on sale. It’s a little more work than I bargained for, learning keyboard shortcuts and things will take me time. I’ll let you guys know after 3 months of use about how it’s going.
Couldn’t wait for your review and bought it yesterday. Just finished my first edit. Awesome software, but certainly has a learning curve
