GO owners don’t HAVE to buy this. There are far cheaper options if they insist on EQ, and IMO the EQ isn’t really required anyway when using a suitable mic.
I posted elsewhere recently that there’s a new rotary mixer on the market that costs almost £2,000. Guess what? No mic EQ on that either.
That mic looks perfect. According to it’s manual, the bottom button puts the mic into a “Power Ballad Mode”. It’s also perfect for announcing the beginning of my wedding sets with “You don’t know the POW-AH of the DARK SiDE!” before launching into some improv LTJ Bukem for the bride and groom’s first dance.
Will let you know when I try it out at my wedding on Saturday. I bought a pair of them for karaoke (which I don’t do that often). Be interesting to see how it compares to my main Sennheiser system but I’m not expecting much for £50 to be honest.
yeah ! that’s why my friend was looking for one, it’s the perfect format to go mix in bars, and it’s still quite complete. She prefers it to the sc live 2 which she finds less complete.
And for barely more expensive than a mixstream pro go, it was a good deal
I totally agree with that.
The prime 2 already offers much more than an RX3 which is nevertheless sold for nearly 2000€
the SC live even if they are more recent are clearly not up to the prime 2, especially the sc live 2 which only has 4 pad buttons, much smaller jogs, no SSD bay etc…
And then the prime 2 definitely feels more premium, more high-end, more professional
Maybe there will be a new Prime 2+ at some point. If it had all the features of the Prime4+ except for the zone out and extended Mic section and mixer layout of the SC Live2, it would be my device straight away. I rarely use 4 channels.
I don’t think we’ll ever see a prime2+ and that’s for several reasons:
a prime2+ would be in direct competition with the sc live 2 and would destroy it directly.
If Denon had to make a Prime 2+ they would have done it a long time ago; and they would have launched it at the same time as the prime 4+
I think that if the prime 2 was stopped it’s because it cannibalized a large part of the sales of the prime 4 on which the margins are certainly better
A large part of the DJs don’t care about having 4 channels, they don’t need them. And having a standalone product such as the prime 2 is all they need.
Because the prime 2 was well thought out, maybe even too well thought out, it offers the essentials in a relatively light and compact device to carry without making big sacrifices on comfort or layout. This product perfectly met a huge part of the market that does not need 4 channels, for almost half the price of an RX3 while having more features.
Maybe even a little too much to the point of overshadowing the sales of the prime 4…
Yes, it’s a real shame. I use my Prime 4+ mostly at home and occasionally for events - actually the almost perfect device - unfortunately just very big, especially if you don’t have much space. A narrower version with full equipment with 2 channels would be perfect
