I have added a generator to my setup to allow me to dj in locations that otherwise would not be accessible. Still waiting for it to be delivered but looking forward to finding locations to go live from.
So a bit late (between holidays) Santa brought me these 2 new toys Happy to dive deep in to Ableton with these.
How do you like the 64?!
First day with it and I find it more intuitive than Akai Force. Many things seem to go naturally with my workflow. But of course I still need to dive deeper. Still need to try out custom and stand alone modes.
[thinking out loud] Imagine if we had embedded MPC software rather than just the simplistic “sampler” we have now.
It’s definitely something that needs working on in 2024 I’d say, so much more power to be harnessed from it.
I was asking inMusic to build a proper dj oriented sampler/looper/remix station. It is still somewhere in the topics on the forum, with exact workflow, visual Photoshop mock-up and full function description.
That’s the fun part about InMusic. You never know what they might come up with! : )
I had an old case In storage that was for my old pioneer cdj set 25 years ago. This is what it was for then.
This is what it gonna be used for now.
I have to figure out a proper layout and get some hard foam to set the Rane One. And then figure out how to neatly conceal the wiring.
A second hand Akai Force. Might as well make my some of my music production laptop-free like my DJing with the SC Live 4!
Must say it’s a much more fun & creative way of making tunes than sitting in front of a PC/Mac. I believe I can sync it up withe Denon using Ableton Link too, which I want to try at some point
That’s a cool idea. What will you use for a screen?
Last item I got was the Behringer U-Control UCA202. Hopefully it will have a lot less noise on the inputs than my desktop’s built-in audio.
I have two of these running from two different Mac books, never had a problem and for what they cost it’s a no brainier.
I had one of these (Creative SB MP3 USB) connected to a netbook running win7+audacity for a very long time, it was the best standalone recording solution (unlimited storage, live waveform monitoring, mixtape editing and publishing on the same device etc…).
Behringer UCA202 and 222 are a spiritual successor of it xD
Some surprisingly good functioning solution, maybe it helps some one reduce their cable mess.
I have a flat that was a old office, which has a complete LAN infrastructure. Since i have my DJ set up sometimes down in my living room but on the other side of the AVR receiver, i had to run a cable through the room to connect the audio.
Since i have an LAN port behind the AVR and behind the Mixer, i can connect the two LAN cable in my server cabinet and use this converter:
Honestly for around 35 € a nice clean solution to avoid the cable through the room and my vacuum robot or friends killing my players. Sound quality suffers a little bit but acceptable, but for some low key practicing, nice. Also the latency is very very minimal, if you would not try the play button a couple times, you wouldn’t even notice it)
I’m using it with my IPhone mostly and when I get my new iPad. I can use it with Serato on my home computer (Mac mini m1) just to play around with.
Also I bought some industry standard foam to customizing the case.
Does this work with online streaming recording? Asking for a friend
Ah yes, for “a friend” (wink wink). Tell your friend that they should not be recording from online streaming services. It’s not permitted.
150 quid on Ebay, now I can practise cutting my 45s… going to make a wooden stand for it to bring it up to 1210 level.
Nice! Now all you need is a pair of those 7" Technics decks that Biz Markie had.
