Show your home DJ booth (Part 2)

When you say layers, you mean using “dual deck” mode?

If that’s the case, yeah that’s why I got 4 of them. I also found that I get the best performance out of my SC decks by doing something very unconventional — making sure each of my decks hosts their own music.

I lose two features:

  • what song was played is not reflected across all the decks
  • I can’t do instant doubles.

What I gain:

  • extremely fast response times with everything, which makes this approach worth it.

I wrote a tool to tie the history data from each deck into a single history database entry.

My hope is that the above approach will be my entry into the creation of a new YouTube channel dedicated to getting the most out of Engine.

I will say all your setups look good & I envy those who can/have static setups.

Because I’m setup down the shed & although the power & audio cables are set up in place waiting I still need to grab my speakers/mixstream & plug it all up.

I don’t leave my equipment down the mancave just incase of theft, it’s locked but I’m not temping fate also I normally have to move excess amount of wife/kids stuff out of the way beforehand as well.

This is where the magic happens

Pool setup at the moment as well because it’s a tad warm

Yes, dual deck mode isn’t my cup of tea.

Here is my relatively ghetto lounge room setup. Mixstream Pro, DN-S5000, Traktor S5(old faithful), TT500, JBL 110 and a DJM3000 which just won’t die. Does more than enough for my needs.

Simply no room in the music/office space

Hello! I also use an SD card for each SC6000. It is also a kind of back-up in case something happens. In addition to the two SC6000 I also use two LC6000 on layer B, especially for sampling or loops. Synchronized in midi with the X1850 mixer I also have a TR 8-S from Roland, Otherwise, in one of the pictures you can see the rest of the musical instruments.

You have probably seen a lot of DIY DJ booths but this one is…something :joy:

DJ booth/doggie crib

I know I need to provide some context because this seems like a very random idea but hear me out, makes sense actually. I think.

GF and I bought a new place recently and we have floor heating. Poor dog avoided his usual bed because it was too hot it being on the floor. Needed to come up with a quick and cheap solution: IKEA Singlar baby crib: 60€

  • shortened it to 100x60 and gave it a coat of lineseed oil, made the dog matress to size with some old sponge I had and sewn the cover for it (10€ in fabric). Cut out 3-4 slats for entrance. Intended to add the top cover because the dog prefers darkness.

Then realized I need to move my DJ stuff from the kallax booth im the office because GF works there when I am free for DJ-ing. The living room/kitchen has no space for that…other than where the dog bed is. So an idea was born.

  • 100x60x2cm laminated beech board as top cover for the crib, another one cut into 15cm strips for sides and all treated with coats of lineseed oil. Total about 50-60€ of lumber.
  • reused an old 3cm heavy tabletop cut to 110x70cm, sanded down and also treated with oil
  • all the screws and metal brackets I already had laying around unused from other IKEA furniture so no expense there

This was a quick’n’dirty solution, fully acknowledging the fact that IKEA Singlar is not sturdy enough for this. Dog is more of a scratcher that I am so it works for now but will rebuild it once my garage is in function as a workshop.

And that’s about it. Dog has other beds in other rooms so he will not be subjected to excess noise or vibrations btw.

Very cool, is the dog not too hasty in the lower part of the crib sometimes, that could shake the gear of the table?

Oh, I just realised my post is in the wrong thread, it should be in that one with DJ booths :face_with_peeking_eye:

Not sure how I didn’t notice that before.

Anyway, to answer the Q: nah, the dog literally throws himself on the slats (30kg dog) and the thing shakes for a sec but not enough to do any damage. I think the worst it can do is spill a bit from a full glass if left on it.

If you can see how weak the crib legs are on the photo that is better than expected.

Would be nice to make everything from proper solid wood (maybe some day) but for now it will do.

I’ll move it later. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Edit: moved.

Much appreciated :folded_hands:

Thanks! I enjoy it

A man after my own heart, haha! I too am a X:96 user. I recognize the Revolo (love that 'ish), but what’s the pedal in front of it?

Mixing on the 96 is such a joy. The pedal below the revolo is a BOSS DD-200 delay.

Ahh, I use a TEIL1 (Keinedelay). I have it on good authority that they will be releasing an MK2 version of the TEIL1 (Keinedelay) before the New Year. Haha, I’ve been pestering them for it for many years. Ever since this image was teased to us…

Here’s what’s coming…

I just checked it out, and I gotta’ say, that Boss pedal looks dope though. Might need to test that out before committing to the updated Keinedelay.

The BOSS pedal is really good, but not designed for DJ’s. I’m on the waitinglist for the TEIL1 and definitely going to swap the BOSS when the MK2 is released

No more risks of collapse

New mobile DJ booth, (obviously work in progress), only things left are adding corrugated metal and hinges and obviously building a shelf in for my speaker, ( obviously the temporary platform for my speaker is not going to work for a DJ booth) so yeah, love to hear your opinions, DJ s’more
