Show your home DJ booth (Part 2)

Here’s my new setup showing somewhat the end result of the stuff I got in the past week. Enjoy .

There’s still more work to do like incorporating a built in usb hub and other little things for quality of life improvements. I haven’t glued the foam yet and have compartments for the monitor stand and my Mac mini which is underneath the Rane One with enough clearance to spare.

Edit🙏 Feb 12

Here’s where the project started if you’re interested.

And here.

Once upon a time …

A Denon DJ Prime 4 (the original) in a two-tone wrap from our German friends at DJ Skins. Subtle, yet different from standard. If only because my DJ name and business name were printed on it. The Gain knobs were replaced with ‘Denon-blue’ models from DJ TechTools.

At some point, I added a black Denon DJ LC6000 as a third deck controller. And, to spin some vinyl at home, a Gemini 500XL-II. In silver. In short, fun but not really a unified setup.

For a long time, I wanted a white controller, so the Prime 4 was sold, and a white Prime 4+ took its place. After nearly three years of searching, I finally found a VL12 Prime turntable in Austria!

But those two black boxes next to my beautiful white Prime 4+? I wasn’t feeling it.

This time, I turned to 12inchSkinz for white skins for my LC6000 and VL12.

And then it was … almost … complete!

Today, the final piece arrived from @slipmatcentral: my white slipmat with ‘Denon-blue’ accents.

I saw the results and thought … DJ life is beautiful!

P.s. There is no accounting for taste, so hate all you want. I’ll still respect you in the morning!

P.s. 2 And yes, those ARE WHITE Ortofon Scratch

Now you just gotta paint that Rode stand and Skin the monitor

@thisisian we took your advice and got a blind fitted, more for aesthetics than security though, it finishes off the look I think. Going to have print on that wall to the left.

The company are amazing, they don’t charge more for separate visits, each blind is a set price so you can order as many or few as you can at each point. They also offer a free service of taking them down and reinstalling when you want to decorate, so you don’t have to worry about breaking them.

Update time, had a busy week on holiday this week. Built a cabinet for storage and my record boxes to sit on. Made from MDF and furniture board.

Best part of all, it cost me a grand total of £31 to build, as most of the materials were salvaged from other projects.

Always love to see your stuff Stu ! also seen that photo at evening time i think with that small lamp turned on, looks even better there

Very nice cozy corner, i´m starting to think that if i want something i should build it myself like you instead of buying it from overpriced sites, especially desks or stands

Cheers man, and I would encourage anyone to get stuck in and do it. Like you say everything you can buy is hugely expensive, even IKEA are cashing in on it with their ‘DJ stand’

If you have a combi drill, a cheap track saw (Lidl sell them for under £100), a cheap router and some basic hand tools like a tape measure and a square, you can build anything.

I reckon a sheet of 18mm MRMDF and a set of the above tools would be cheaper than even the budget DJ stands you see online.
