Rough Jog Wheels on new SC6000s

[Crossposting from r/DenonPrime for more visibility]

Picked up a pair of new (open box) SC6000s from FB over the weekend for a steal. The seller had opened the boxes, but the contents inside were basically untouched - all accessories were still sealed, the plastic peels were still on jogwheels/screens, and the firmware on the players was from early 2021.

The players are fantastic, but the jog wheels on both players are a bit rough compared to the SC6000 I’ve already had for a few years. They feel a little rougher, don’t spin as well, and make a bit of noise (almost like a grinding sound) when you do a big backspin.

I’m guessing that the lube on the rollers/brake inside the jogwheel(s) has dried up or degraded over the years, especially since they’ve been sitting unopened in god knows what kind of conditions for so long. Has anyone had similar issues? I’m planning on fixing it myself, so if anyone knows about proper tools/supplies for the job, please let me know.

what do u mean by sc6000s.

Hi Mitzy :woman_raising_hand:t2:

Yes, the lubricant can dry up. If you want to fix this yourself, it may be quite a journey. Here is a forum post where the disassembly of the SC6000 was documented. I hope this is helpful:

The good news: If the lubricant is the problem, this can be fixed.
