New gear for 2026

Totally off topic:

BeOS was soooo revolutionary.

This was a good retrospective:

Prime 4/+ with Phase, Rane Twelve, or even integrated DVS (via Noisemap Vinyl) support for decks 3 and 4 in standalone mode was always something I regarded as missed opportunity, to elevate the device even further as true killer allrounder. The integrated mixer combined with the external Ln/Ph-In always seemed a bit underutilized, combined with the fact that none of the effects (minus the Filter and Noise Sweep) worked with external sources.

Considering the LC6000 got neat plug n’ play support while the Rane Twelves didn’t, is quite strange, especially since they are also inMusic products and USB/MIDI class-compliant on top of that. With Engine DJ now fully working with motorized platters (System One), who knows, maybe there is still a chance… of not for this, than at least for the next generation AiOs.

I was always vocal about stronger cross-brand synergies within inMusic, to leverage existing potentials and gain even more public traction. Another great example (and miss) is Resolume. Only works (plug ‘n’ play sync) with the 800€ Arena license, instead of opening the required StagelinQ feature to the more reasonably priced Avenue tier, which is more suited for home, prosumer and streaming DJs. I am sure, several existing DJs who already use SoundSwitch would give it a try (including myself).

Although the Prime 4/4+ has phono/line inputs, I don’t think it would have allowed DVS implementation via these inputs due to internal signal routing issues.

These inputs appear to be routed in a physical hardware way that completely bypasses Engine OS when selected. The audio signal therefore cannot physically reach the Engine OS software layer, thus preventing any processing. This is precisely why audio effects (which, as you know, are software effects controlled by the Engine OS application) cannot affect the signals entering the phono/line connectors.

However, they could have circumvented this physical limitation using Phase’s HID mode, which uses only the USB connector and not analog connections like the standard timecode signal.

You are also correct regarding the Rane Twelves, whose operating principle is not so different from Phase’s, even though in the case of the Twelves, it’s the motors and optical sensor that generate the HID signal, not the gyroscopic sensors used by Phase. The signal is always transmitted in HID via the USB port.

Hello,

I played on it yesterday : it is THE best engine os device on the market.

It is a motorized upgraded Prime 2 ++ version.

Can’t wait a maybe future prime 4/5/6++ device.

Its smooth, it’s fast, it’s motorized, this vertical screen is enough and better with horizontal view, effect are good, quality is top… price is…. Very Pioneer

I cannot understand why you would use Serato on it. May be Djay Pro soon

No need for another channel because you have a bluetooth/aux entry with it’s own rotary level.

Buttons are excellent, faders amazing, sound quality is very good but not as good as cdj3000x and v10/v5 Pioneer devices.

For video or karaoke gigs as Engine devices have no video output.

Jake Hill said the same thing in his most recent video. There are loads of mobile DJs that use these devices for software features that Engine standalone does not support.

Also although engine is perfectly workable on it’s own, the playlist and library management in VDJ is far more versatile and makes open format gigs much easier to navigate.

I also use the P4+ with VDJ in about 70% of cases.

Serato would never even cross my mind, as I consider it—along with Rekordbox—to be one of the worst software solutions on the market. I also find their pricing policy highly questionable.

Market leadership or not, that doesn’t mean they’re among the best… definitely not for me.

have you noticed any waveform glitching?

I’ve seen more stuttering, than at my Prime Go.

Waveforms on my System One are as smooth as silk. I have them horizontal, 3 colour mode and medium zoom.

In the final seconds of the video he speculates about a standalone engineDJ powered mixer. Just sayin…

Can you imagine 4 X LC6000’s + a Engine powered DJ mixer?

STU-C your 100% correct.. That’s exactly how I remember that situation as well.

Well, this doesn’t seem like as far-fetched an idea as it might initially appear.

It would be a rather unusual move in the industry, but quite bold.

Why continue manufacturing players with their own CPU/RAM and other expensive components when you can integrate them only once into the mixer that acts as the central hub of your DJ setup and connect simple MIDI/HID controllers like the LC6000, which are much cheaper to produce and therefore also cheaper for the end user?

Obviously, this implies that you’re limited to a compatible “EngineOS embedded” mixer, but if it’s well-made, with, for example, high-quality upfaders that are easily replaceable from the top, it could certainly be an interesting modular option as an alternative to all-in-one.

I think there could be a market for this kind of product.

Because not everyone wants that mixer. Many prefer A&H mixers or any others. But they still like denon decks. Simple as that.

If anyone is looking for a stand for the Rane System One I’d highly recommend the Gravity KS X1 keyboard stand. It’s lightweight, has a small footprint and is very sturdy. Fits the depth of the controller perfectly too.

I’m still waiting for a soft carry case, looks like the Magma CTRL case is still a month away which is disappointing.

These stands are wonderful, I have one for my SC Live 4. :green_heart:

Just be careful with those keyboard stands as they are top heavy.

… not demands

Why just LC6000s?. What if Denon would build a 4 channel standalone mixer with basically the middle section of the Rane System One. Think in the likes of the DJM2000. But it would be able to connect with players over different protocols. Like the LC6000, Numark DJ2GO or the Traktor D2 over midi, the SC5000/6000 (6000mk2?) natively over EngineDJ and HID control over CDJ players. It would be tremendous feat to either licence or legally hack the permission to the HID protocol. But it would be a gateway into some conservative dj booths.
