That would actually be a smart move. I love my SC6000M players, but I often miss the “1210 feeling” of the platters … touching strobe dots … I would like to have a pair of platters to swap. 
Having options is always good.

Similar to my epsilon djt 1300! It’s really useful for quick nudges because you can get a grip on the platter

I totally agree, I only mentioned it to point out that there’s a good chance we might not see much of the bells & whistles the system one got.
I’m not jumping to conclusions at all, I said that I expect them to do exactly the same as they did with the P4+. Keep the all the new cool software features only for the system one for a substantial amount of time (to the point where most will eventually give up & buy a system one). Then they will finally release an update that provides one or two of the new features (probably not the most requested though) along with some ‘questionable’ reasoning as to why only those. This is purely my expectation, hopefully they surprise me. I would rather be surprised than disappointed, so I’ll keep my expectations low.

But this causes a problem for those like me that have the System One and also older products. I’m currently having to maintain two laptops and two separate database drives as they are not compatible.

My theory is very possibly flawed, that’s just my take on it. It’s one of those times where I actually do hope I’m wrong though.
I have a small stake in a company that primarily handles stage construction and equipment rental to event organizers and subcontractors. This also includes organizing events and equipping smaller clubs and bars with lighting and sound equipment.
This week, I have to decide whether we restock our Denon inventory or sell it off and discontinue the Denon brand.
Looking back at the last event… phew. It’s a considerable sum of money, and yes, I’m a Denon fanboy – but not at any cost.
For now I am waiting to see how the firmware updates develop for other hardware. That said, I do expect that at some point I will submit a feature request for a mobile app.
The main use case would be the ability to adjust the 10-band master EQ and microphone settings remotely from within the room itself, at least on devices that support Bluetooth. Being able to make these adjustments from the dance floor instead of from the booth makes a big practical difference.
From the booth you are often not hearing what the audience actually hears. Room acoustics, crowd density and speaker placement can all affect the sound significantly. Walking onto the dance floor while making small EQ adjustments allows for much more accurate tuning of the system in real-world conditions.
This would also be very useful during events where the room fills up over time, or when switching between different types of music or spoken word. Small EQ or microphone tweaks can be done quickly and precisely, without having to leave the floor or rely on guesswork.
Remote control like this is already common on modern digital mixers, and adding similar functionality here would be a very strong and practical upgrade.
If you see my post on another thread, it is absolute fact that the older devices were tested, did have issues and the decision was made to pull it.
The point is: Denon hasn’t exactly covered itself in glory lately.
Even my P4+ was advertised with onboard stems when I bought it, whether in real time or pre-calculated is another question.
This feature was quietly removed and, as compensation, added as a free license in the desktop software. Does this devalue the P4+? Yes! Is it a disaster? No!
Any hardware could calculate stems onboard, that’s beyond question for me – but how useful would that really be?
This doesn’t change the current situation: The Denon brand seems rather inactive. Would a business owner stock something like this? No! Especially since demand is noticeably declining and Denon isn’t doing anything about it.
And ultimately, it’s not our job to solve this problem – that’s what marketing is for, and it also determines how a brand presents itself.
Who said they are doing nothing? How do you know that firmware 4.5 or 4.6 or whatever it is hasn’t been through testing on Denon products for months?
When have they ever not updated their products in the past? Why would they start now?
The only thing I could find is that Numark as a brand is struggling to maintain marketshare against cheaper Recordbox enabled controllers. But Denon seems to be gaining marketshare
Hence why Denon DJ should have a bigger presence online. Sharing their goals with the Prime line, killing or confirming the rumours about the discontinuation of the line would be helpful. They should be more present online, except firmware updates (thank you!)
A couple of things to mention here. Firstly the “advertising” of onboard stems was not done by Denon DJ. That was down to the retailers listing it as such, when the stems functionality was only ever available as a beta version for test purposes.
Second, the feature was not “quietly removed” as it was never a fully released official feature (see above). It just never made it past beta.
First let me clarify that I’m not here to bash DenonDj. I’m a loyal customer for many years & ambassador of the brand whenever I’m using it. My response was about my reasoning for not getting MY hopes up. With that said, I’m not disputing that testing was done (there’s lots of beta testers), I had no problems at all with my P4, so the overall consensus (in my opinion) was incorrect but the reasoning given however…… was 100% not true. Why they said this, only they would know, but there is absolutely no difference in the hardware pertaining to that. Anyway BT was not my point, it was merely used as an example. My feeling is that Denon will do whatever they want & provide any reasoning (if any) they feel fits. Eg: Q: Why does only the system one get RGB waveforms after we’ve been begging for 5yrs….. A: Because older units can’t handle the 3 different colours ← Take it or leave it, whether true or not. With that said, I’m not here to argue with anyone. So I’ll now humbly withdraw from all of this now. Hopefully you understand my view a bit better.
This isn’t about why they should do something or never did – that’s completely irrelevant.
I have to decide whether I see the Denon brand as having a future or not, and accordingly invest a budget either in this brand or in AT.
I can’t base a decision on speculation like, “Why would they suddenly do that?”
The STEMS option was also advertised here in Germany by all three major retailers where we buy, using the exact same wording.
This text appears on both my personal invoice and the invoice for the ten units currently in stock or on loan. Where did this text come from? Don’t tell me the retailers made it up!
Once again: I really like the P4+ – completely independent of the brand. If it were an AT device, I would have bought it from AT. Personally, I can speculate about why they might do something or not.
Business-wise, I have to be able to justify it. Only facts matter, and of course our internal figures – and things aren’t looking good for this brand.
