New controller for second layer?

I guess it will be as niche as the DN-SC2000 was, but this is a good thing. It’s an up-to-date take on it.

There is nothing to say that this will not be able to to control software too.The idea of Engine DJ has been flirted with and this could possibly double-up as a controller for this.

I’m pretty sure you can use it with the whole prime series. Denon wouldn’t deny people with an prime 4 the chance to get this advantage (About Go,2 with to lanes I’m not sure). The rest is pretty uncertain. But how cool would it be to use it with DVS, Serato or even better Engine on PC? So buy two of these and a x1850 for low money for your homesetup and can play in the Clubs with the mostly same Products only with Screens on it. This could be a clever step to get these in the club and festival community.

(Sorry for my english, it’s not the yellow from the egg, like we say it in germany)

If you were able to use it with other software, you would need an external sound card I would imagine. This product was designed to control the second layer of a SC deck which has dual sound cards so I highly doubt it will have its own sound card. Just my speculation…

I think, that when device is a sub-layer controller it does not exclude its other options and abilities.

Oh yeah i forgot, that’s true. If there i another soundcard in these its a bit waste, but we all know Denon is often suprising us, so lets hope

We will be lucky if we can midi map it to DJ software like traktor and vdj. With serato it will probably not work because it would require money from inmusic to serato and this really cannot afford to have additional 100$€£ tag on account of that.

If we really hit a jackpot someone in denon will push the idea to enable it to be used for prepping in engine prime (scrolling through songs, setting beatgrids, cuepoints etc), maybe at later point.

Anything other that that is wishful thinking based on the experience with inmusic led denon dj brand

Sorry I don’t understand what you mean

I meant that, if this unit is designed to be a sublayer controller for SC players, that it still can have a sound card that can be used by third party software when running a normal controller option (for example - serato, vdj, traktor)

I hope so. Maybe Denon did this marketing moves also to hear what we expect from this controller. Cause they haven’t dropped much information yet, leaves them a big scope.

Also if these are only extensions they have a pretty small market. Especially if you can only use it with the SC-series. Like i said, so many people would buy them if you can have a bundle like two of them and a X1850.

I remember thinking the same in 2010 when they released SC2000. Denon had Engine 1.0 that had linking option with SC2900/3900 so it made sense that they will develop if further into a DJ software. Look where we are after 10 years.

Turns out, most users that wanted a cheap single jog controller for DJ software have a better choice in plenty of older model CDJ’s. The SC2000 flopped, being sold in the end for $30-50 to clear stocks. Retail price was around $200-250.

I doubt LC6000 will be cheaper and since Denon is now pushing for standalone performance as their motto (no new controllers, big accent on Engine OS and no possibility for EP to be linked with players) I think this one will be very niche, more than SC2000 was.

onboard sound card will raise the cost.

i don’t think its even necessary for 3rd party dj apps, most folks i know just use the mixers soundcard anyways.

Most… and some djs with older or analog mixers purists will enjoy…

And anyway - A High quality DAC chip like a Burr-Brown PCM 1796 DAC 24bit / 192khz costs for end user less than 5 EUR… So how much a built in sound card would rais the cost for an end user? 50EURO’s - I bet many Dj’s would pay that without even a blink…

It simply must be so much cheaper for denon to price this lc6000 if they don’t have to build so much future bug fixing budget for compatibility with multiple DJ softwares.

I used to use traktor DVS with some older denons the 3700s and the work denon had already spent on the DVS timecode wax all ruined by traktor changing their timecode frequency.

They should make it so it plugs into any Prime SC model and as an extra mouse for Engine Prime on PC then that’s still keeping the compatibly within Denon talking to Denon , as long as Windows behaves.

I don’t think lc6000 should have a soundcard. What I do think it should have is just USB ports and power cable. It should be as cheap as possible too.

I can see the unit working not only within the Engine Dj ecosystem but with other computer software also. I can also see the unit being used for replacement parts for the sc6000 somewhere down the line

£799 is my bet.

That would depend on what’s under the hood. A pioneer cdj 700 cost around £600 so if it the lc6000 comes out like I think then it should cost around the same or even less.

Am sure there are 1000 reasons why it should be cheaper, but I still think it’ll be priced that high.

Only time will tell - I cant see any momentum being applied by Denon to release this, so there’s a question about if they will decide to release it, not how much it will cost.

Who knows. If I were to make a prediction it would be that when the LayYa controller is officially released it might be accompanied by some other announcements relevant to it plus other firmware updates and other things😉

If we were to take what we see at face value then then LayYa controller should of been released a long time ago.

£:799? Aren’t the motorised Rane Twelve’s around that?

I’ll go with around £399 to £499. If they are just a controller with no motor or soundcard then they can’t be over £500.

Be careful in here guys! Denon DJ will almost certainly be watching this with reactions and expectations. Be careful as we could be unwittingly doing the pricing this for Denon DJ! Hahaha.

Wink Oh I think I would pay £399 for this! wink

I dont think they are gong to look at the forums to decide price point - thats been decided a long time ago, if indeed there is actually a product to release - we have heard nothing from Denon at all.
