The most important part of all of this is the possible Engine update. The hardware feels very unnecessary. Fingers crossed Engine is better. It’s the absolute most important part of this whole equation.

Out of curiosity… Would it be possible to buy the pad-buttons and knobs as spareparts and exchange them on the SC5000 - Will they fit?

Like the look of the SC6000 but seems like a unnecessay investment when owning the SC5000.

Ridiculous these are being released and yet I still have 3 unanswered firmware and hardware issues with the 5000’s and EP is a crippled program that hardly functions.

I just watched the jfb video and boy those waveforms are huge! Almost 1/3 of the deck is the waveform right in your face. lol

It kinda looked weird in a way, but the view for track listing is awesome for a standalone unit almost laptop grade.

Also the apparent Serato accessorizing with effect control from the unit is interesting. Hopefully we can have this in standalone when connected to a prime mixer.

But that works in every Prime DJs favour.

Every Prime player has Engine OS inside it.

Up until now, any improvements denon make to firmware (Engine OS) only benefits 3 models (5000 / m / 4 ) but now, with the 6000 / M having Engine OS inside too, means that an improvement or extra feature added to the Engine OS then benefits the all the customers of 5 different models, each with thousands or dozens of thousands of owners worldwide.

Engine OS being shared across more and more models is brilliant news for any of us, who own any of the primes.

This is all very good bravo denon, but I would like to know what happens to those that recently invested heavily in the 5000 prime set? Are they going to become door stops as the software doesn’t work and denon is putting all their efforts in to the new hardware.

For real we do not really know? When sc5000 went to sale denon have 2 years to fix bugs, implement easy feature request which people from this forum asked. But they did not do it. It makes me wonder if it won’t be the same this time. And I see anouncement about new streaming services?! We need minor fixes on player not another freaking streaming service. Fix minor bug implement features requested by community and then do what you want for god sake denon

I agree with you Wyley - people are wailing on about “our SC5000 and engine Prime 1.3.3 will be left behind” simply because they are not reading through the announcement properly, and they are not reading Jwills additional explanations reiterating those exact points again.

Yes they did.

Several hundred requests have been made, they can all be seen in the feature quest forum place. A lot of those requests had the immortal words from the person requesting, about how easy it would be to add that feature I see. I also see when reading through those requests lots that have been added already and I see lots of what someone rates as essential must have that then only get the one or two likes or votes from others, suggesting that the new wanted feature can’t have been very essential in reality.

I have worked for some years in a software house which among other things provides firmware for car systems, not racing cars or performance muscle cars, just the average modern family four door saloon car. Sometimes what seems simple or can be described in just a few words or can be said in a couple of seconds, can be the hardest thing to program. Sometimes something that may be asked for by a lot of people simply has to wait until the results of other changes have been made first. I’d say it’s probably the same with the requested features too.

Like BPM Analyzer on decks and in engine Prime. If the are any programmers or similar on here they may know of the age old problem of some things referring to a thousand being to have 1000 parts but other things referring to a thousand as having 1024 parts.

Imagine the amount of work needed if the New Zealand team have decided that the new bpm algorithm needed to work to1024 parts, when everything else in Prime world worked to 1000 parts.

They’d have to change quantize, loops, hot cues, fx, display, waveform and lord only knows what else “just” to get BPM perfect. Then change all those things to work at 1024 parts and test them all again and again.

This is what I theorise about when I say that sometimes things are needed to a certain order with some things that might not seem important to some requests being done ahead of what others voted for.

Also, in terms of hardware, the units are quite similar to the previous gear, so I’m pretty convinced the “old” SC5000x user won’t be left behind in terms of firmw… .ahummm EngineOs updates.

Now that the new hardware is here they should focus focus FOCUS on Engine Prime. I hope that the promised update fixes the beatgridding and several other issues that can be an annoyance to many. Denon DJ has so much potential to really change the market. Now is the time!
