Yes, all stereo that Iāve tried so far. Itās very strange
A good approach, im thinking of doing my soul-funk-disco folder as most of the tracks have vocals, same with Nu Discoā¦ my deep house folder should be ok to laeave
Just as an aside for the wider discussion, how many people on socials are losing their mind over a Ā£9.99 one off payment, is this the level of grinch we have now reached in DJ world lol?
Iām very anti subscription but a low one off payment for an extra feature isnāt really an issue.
Saying that Iāve had VDJ since 2008 and they havenāt charged for a single update (apart from the Android or iOS remote app) and the stems upgrade was free too.
I did however note the wording in the video saying the software update was free. How long until this turns in to a paid thing if your hardware is older than x date. Just a feeling I had ā¦
So far Iāve mainly seen people posting that theyāre OK with paying a one-off fee (but I donāt do BookFace or TokTik).
I have the same issue, but I use Lexicon to manage my library, so I was waiting for it to be updated before I open a bug report here.
If I create a brand new library, not touched by Lexicon, Stems work just fine, thatās why I suspect it has to do with it.
Is that your case? If not, maybe the bug is not related to Lexicon after all.
Damn, thatās exactly it. Thanks for the heads up - I really hope Lexicon can make the requisite update in the near future.
Edit: just checked their forums and Christian said itās coming soon.
Thanks again @gdnt
I cant be bothered to find the list i did on the forum of all the things the Prime 2 has had added to it since i bought it (it was on a post about 8 months back), but ill put the number somewhere near 30 new features, all free and all via firmware updates. Based on that i think I/we have definitely had our fair share of stuff from InMusic, and itās looking like for the time being it will continue.
Nobody is talking about the normalisation feature that was added to this release, another first in this space, in fact i dont even think any DJ software does this?
Instagram and Youtube for me, and yeah the main feeling is positive but there are enough people complaining to put it firmly in the ridiculous category.
I wouldnāt worry, the maintainer is usually super fast to update.
When the database changed recently Lexicon was already up-to-date from day 1, I think. Maybe stems require a bit more time, but I trust it should be solved soon
Of course, there will be the ones who will already be in disbelief that stems actually arrived at all, have been enjoying plastering the web with āitāll never happen, it canāt be doneā and now that stems is here, has 4 bands of separation, high quality , a wide compatibility with models and well implimented - all theyāve got left to moan about is the trivial low cost of ownership and non-grumbles such as processing time and hard drive space lol
@Pasha A lot of those comments were based on the fact that the beta on the P4+ was for realtime stems and everyone knew due to the chip archtecture it wasnāt possible to implement them directly on the device. If this was going to be the outcome why was the beta on the P4+ hardware only?
Denon have done a side shooter here, and although acceptable itās not the same as realtime stems on the device which is what people thought they would get.
I still stand by my comments as what we have here is effectively a workaround although well implemented.
Technically it was, and is possible as they actually released a Beta doing it. It was pretty basic and didnt sound great, but they only ever did one version of the Beta so far, so none of us know whether there is room for improvement or not, and the party line given to reviewers is they are still very much working on realtime Stems.
Over time the algoryhthms will become more efficient and less demanding.
Couldnāt agree more
And even quicker/better if Denon use more powerful chips in the next hardware releases of course.
Which im sure they will, i also believe people need to temper their expectations a bit with the chips. Ive seen talk about them getting equivalent to Apple M chips in there, those things to buy in the volume InMusic would be purchasing would cost more than the device, such is the buying power of Apple and the volumes they purchase. The Apple TV is a good example, it uses the A15 bionic chip from the phone, and reviews state that itās āway fasterā than anything else in that market, including devices from some major players.
I read a couple of years back that the graphics card inside the Xbox Series X would be around Ā£1300 to buy as a standalone part, yet you can buy the whole console for Ā£450.
and bloating the efffff out of their storage. Theyāll blame engine for running out of space. just you wait
Hereās the thing though. Plenty of people have bought the Opus Quad. Itās very expensive for what it is but that hasnāt put customers off. If Denon created a Prime 4 Ultra with an onboard stems separation chip it would still work out cheaper than that.
My laptop I use for stems calculation in VDJ was Ā£2500 (Ā£4000 retail price) but itās a tool I felt I needed and Iām very happy with it. Add the price of the FLX10 on top ā¦
Maybe onboard separation could be reserved for the top of the line devices and things like the Go and Numark controllers would just use precomputed stems.
According to a few on here storage is cheap so thatās not an issue any more.
ive fixed your first sentence, and also provided the reason why it was purchased with no questioning of the price (tax)
Edit:
This is my SSD of choice, Ā£61 for a 1tb drive. Obviously doesnt account for the PC storage needed but does cover the on device storage pretty well.
But that also proves that people would pay that for comparable Denon gear? Or do Pioneer have exclusivity on charging higher prices?
