Cat out of the bag?! Prime GO+

Oh, good point. Already wondered how they squeezed in a bigger battery and SATA slot.

Well, in that case… meh. But the Go was never of interest for me, too many compromises.

For new buyers who love the form-factor, sure, why not.

I’ve just been watching a tear down video, which shows the insides of an original GO.

There’s quite a bit of room in there for a bigger battery (it sits inside a little plastic cradle) and even an SSD.

Maybe it uses a newer revision of the RK3288 with a smaller etch fineness.

The smaller the etch fineness, the lower the CPU power consumption for the same performance. This could explain the increase in battery life with the same battery

it’s probably a M.2 slot

Sure, tell that to this guy.

Interesting that you would cut the quote there when the next sentence explains my reasoning…

“The ethernet port omission isn’t really an issue. I would bet you could just use a usb adapter like with the SC Live units.”

Not ideal, if you have just one USB-A port on the back, so you have to combine a hub with a dongle - not great. But yeah, a generic USB-LAN dongle which I got from Amazon works with my Live 4 + Akai Force. Having a proper LAN port is always better, of course.

Mojaxx says there’s a “newer processor”…

Newer does not mean more powerful, it is certainly a thinner engraved processor which explains the increased autonomy

Where InMusic hardware engineers are gone seriously ? In 5 years they cannot provide a proper mk2 version with significant improvements ??? The prime go is far to be a banger, I like the compact size but the layout, the faders, jogwheels are trash. I wanted a little bigger version with standard eqs layout, replaceable crossfader, bigger jogwheels !!!

How InMusic Brands (Rane, Denon, Numark, Stanton…) can be less productive in terms of hardware than the single Pioneer DJ ???

If someone in InMusic can just have a look of what could be an absolute banger for me, please see my mockup of what a motorized version of the Mixstream Pro Go+ M could look like

Not to nitpick (but I will anyway)…

The Prime Go is not aimed at you. I don’t want the additional weight and size of motorised platters in my backpack when I play a small corporate gig and I’m carrying a PA speaker and table too. You want something else entirely. The Prime Go is not outdated - it remains a unique tool for lightweight gear - it’s a workhorse and it ain’t broke.

Pioneer are still playing feature catchup, even with the AZ.

Do you really know what hardware cycles mean ? Look at every other hardware companies, all models evolve in terms of designs, size, features…etc Sorry but no hardware company can survive by adding such small improvements every 5 years !!! The software has drastically improve but Denon is not a software company !!!

Let’s see the sales then…my little finger says only few people will buy this go+ instead of the original go.

It will be the same market who don’t already have a Go. It just replaces like-for-like the existing model.

As a Prime Go owner I can’t think of anything I’d want added. The design works for me and the software is on a constant improvement and feature cycle. What needs adding for me is AUX/Mic through the headphones. That’s it.

It’s a facelift model appealing to the same market it did before.

Hopefully we’ll see some new hardware in the upcoming year but for now the Prime Go hits 99% of the spots I need. It needs very little changes.

Yep agree …

But like Mojaxx shares on its review, he thinks the next generation of Engine OS Hardwares is stilll someway off (https://youtu.be/G_F6UJ9-c90?si=c_IfGK3R_5I7PROF at 18:30)

I think the same because InMusic seems prioritizing the Software instead of Hardware…there’s still no Rane Engine OS Hardware, no pro compact controllers (Prime2 and SC Live 2 are too big for me, the prime go too small with disturbing eq layout). There’s room to really kill the market but InMusic is shy (remember that Numark used to be a really innovative company) the Hardware evolution is not as dynamic as the Software one.

Please do share PK.

You nailed it. According to Mojaxx the loss of the LAN port reduces power consumption a bit.

I would hazard a guess that this is something they’ve explored. Generally they partner with Serato for their releases but who knows where that will go now?

And software mic eq.

Do you really know what hardware cycles mean ?

If you only knew.

The fact we’re getting free OS updates for existing hardware is actually a great deal as a consumer. Denon DJ are a software company as much as they are a hardware vendor because they build complete systems, not components.

I don’t need a GO+ because although I have access to Amazon music I don’t need it for DJ work, so I don’t need Amazon’s DRM hardware. My existing Prime Go works fine (especially for aircraft travel), and when I have larger gigs I use the SC6000 and X1850 combo to get a good workout session in their flight cases. When the venue has Pioneer gear installed I take a USB stick and kick back with a margarita.

But someone’s probably going to appreciate the Amazon music library being open to them, because back in the old days, collecting records was very, very expensive. So the additional cost is a real bargain if you already subscribe to Amazon Prime. In other words, the GO and the GO+ both have a solid market niche (and there’s no comparable AlphaTheta device in that niche).

I was waiting for the release of a new Prime Go (I suspected it would come out someday soon). But the lack of LAN port is a big problem for me as I want to play in sync with hardware devices via Ableton Link. For me is a big step backwards. Wifi will never be better than wired connectivity. Strange move by Denon, especially now that Pioneer/Alpha Theta move in confusion. Quite disappointed.
