To be fully honest, Denon gives us years after the purchase more value out of the same products (Wifi, Soundwitch integration, Bluetooth chips that are being activated or Touch FX), what is something that is special. Not many companies are out there who advance their products with major updates. Think about pioneer inserting a wifi chip, than continue development and boom here you go nice extra feature for free that you dont know you allready bought. The complaining of certain features not available is kinda ridiculous. Yes there is no NAS support, yes no specific colored waveforms or whatever. Maybe engine DJ has some flaws, but it became good over the last years. → if you really think denon is not putting much effort in, than maybe an other brand can satisfy you. But short hint, go to the pioneer forum and put up a feature request for the RX3 that you want anything. There will be no update RX4 is the only way to get anything new.
For the people who are complaining, i am just curious if you knew other brands that advance their existing line of products years after the release? Even products like the older generation (sc5000).
You are absolutely right, I love my Prime 4 and I analyzed it a lot before buying it, in fact, it was exactly because denon products are more complete, that I stopped using the pioneer line and started using the denon line, my suggestions and complaints, are exclusively related to the software, I am suffering too much with the transfer of my music, and the other requests, are really to improve even more for all of us.
i would be also curious what improvements are needed for the Pro Denon Line.
I mean the Opus quad has some more screens but function wise not ahead. Maybe the prime 4 needs an optic update. But who knows what the Prime 4 Plus brings.
The SC6000 are also still ahead of the CDJ3000 (jog wheel performance we can discuss) but what does it need more (maybe someday more processing power).
Overall Denon is already ahead even with “older” products.
Maybe a 15 inch screen on some sc7000 or even better 20 inch? (irony off)
Ive had a play around with one in our local Pioneer dealers, i wouldn’t call those jog wheels smooth at all, they feel like CDJ-1000 jogs, rattling and a slight grinding sound when turning. Not what i expected on a £3000 DJ device.
Bluetooth is coming in the next firmware update for Prime devices.
As a general rule, no Pioneer product is up to the task, I don’t want to change equipment from time to time, I prefer to use the one I have and improve it. little by little as Denon does, currently no Opus quad or Rx3 are above prime 4… so I prefer that they don’t release new products than with the lack of a microchip, they would shoot up the price, I prefer that what is there be updated, That will give Denon more customers and little by little it will recover the world number 1 that it had 20 years ago (for the youngest, Denon in the 2000s was number 1, nobody wanted to work with Pioneer)
ok i see it gives you a big improvement, i can see that some functions are cool but not worth the huge price increase. But if the prime 4 cost 2.500 euro at this point, an prime 5 with more screens would certainly be more expensive. Why not buy the opus quad directly?
I am sure the next thing will be a new Denon Mixer. The X1850 is not available anymore and it was not the favorite Denon product anyway.
The problem is that there are users who always want more! Regarding the Opus Quad, the 2 small screens are not useful “everything is compacted” and I even find it confusing, because we no longer know where to look (If the problem is to have a 10" screen… can -maybe you have to target SC5000 or 6000 players or CDJ 2000) before that… what product did you have (Vinyl turntable with DVS, CDJ 1000mk3 or other CD player with DVS or RX 1 /2 /3 , DDJ SX / SZ), have you made so many reviews and requests ???, The opus has no memorizable loop in several banks, Rolls, slicer, samples, no streaming, no 4 deck in preview “only 2 per switch”, no vertical waveform, no hotcue, no internal SSD, no SoundSwith, no extension possible in 4 decks as the P4 can do with the LC6000… And its size and weight in a flightcase we talk about it?It’s just a throwback to portability!
The Prime 4 is a beast, but a 4 years old beast (and the price was 1700€ !) As an electronic device it is long.
Imagine an iPhone 9 or 10. They are still good but old.
It’s like cdj2000 compare to cdj3000. The 3000 are great, you don’t want to play a 2000 once you have used a cdj3000.
I love it, but to me it’s like a Pioneer xdj-XZ compared to the opus quad. It is time for a new one, more modern.
The Prime Go is still without competitor. (Numark is great but more a home/toy device)
A Prime 4+ is not a good idea, it is still an old device.
TBH that’s exactly what they’ve been imprinting in our brains: buy the latest newest best. We used to do 20+ years with a washing machine or TV.
Now, I do know that tech moves very fast and my comparison doesn’t hold long, but luckily the Prime devices are very capable. Even the old. So the only “problem” is the general look of older devices. For me, it’s great to see updates are coming to my SC5000’s next to my SC6000’s.
I think stems could be too cpu demanding, but who knows what devs come up with next.
Honestly this is the problem. There is literally nothing wrong with the device itself. I need my equipment to do one very fundamental thing: Allow me to manipulate and play music. Yeah I like the screens on the Opus, but it really feels cheap in my hands.
When you upgrade your iphone, you don’t really notice much difference in the device anyway. Sure it has a slightly better camera, sure it feels slightly faster because the company has not slowed you down via bloated updates but it is still just a phone that has slightly better hardware and gated software features.
I for one am grateful for a product that is consistently updated (The last update was phenomenal and I still don’t feel like i’ve gotten the most out of it yet) and does not waste my money with upgrade fever. The price is still absolutely top of the market for what you get.
Yes, of course, but I believe this community exists, so we can report problems, request new features to make it even better, and one member helping another correct?.
If a Rane mixer is released with all the properties to support Denon media player features like the x18xx then one can say Rane’s got it covered.
Most of the planet agrees that Denon should have a better mixer line up. The x1850 is not a bad mixer and works very good in the engine ecosystem but it’s the only one and there is a need for a more higher end model if you know what I mean.
