Funny you mention the 3000’s. Have you seen the amount of requests for features the Denons already have that pioneer has confirmed will not come to the 3000’s on their forum? :-p
No but I’d have a guess there are plenty. The 6000 series are a great price and look the part with streaming options galore.
I mention the 3000’s as those are the latest CDJ, and I’ve mostly used CDJ for the past 15 years. That’s my workflow.
I owned CDJ 2000NXS2’s and have been waiting to upgrade, and I wanted the Denons and as I’ve mentioned several times now on here and other forums I’d gladly use Denon if they sorted out the software side of EP to a Serato/RekordBox/Traktor music Prep Management Level …
… Or when they can actually read a RekordBox Playlist properly including Memory Cues & Active Loops and add the likes of Sample Banks.
But they haven’t, so I had to stick with the Devil I Know “Pioneer CDJ” RekordBox, Traktor, Serato.
So until then, it does not appeal to me. Granted it may you or others and especially those into streaming music but to me a DJ whos’ happy with having new music sent to me via monthly pools or buying tracks the stream subscription brigade does nothing for me.
So believe me I am not being Hella’ - Negative about them, I’m just being real.
Not once have you seen me say Pioneer is better or make anything about this vs that because that’s not what I’m about. I simply just use what works for me and my workflow and I truly wish Denon would hurry up and add those missing features I require but like I said I’ve been waiting 3 years I cannot wait no more I’m back at work June and I have till then and now to start prepping new sets, so I had to go with the 3000’s.
Do the CDJ’s have sample banks?
Ok here’s the thing with memory cues. Pioneer have this weird system where, not only do they have the standard hotcues, they also have their own proprietary “memory cues”, of which you can have more than hotcues. So, how would you propose importing these to a denon/serato/whatever library if a rekordbox track had both hot cues and memory cues, or simply just more than 8 memory cues? You can’t fit > 8, into 8…
No. Did I say they did? I think I would’ve been referring to Rekordbox / Engine Prime for that don’t you?
Hold shift plus select Hot Cue for Memory Cue mode? Seems the obvious way to me.
I think you’ve possibly missed the point here. Memory cues are proprietary pioneer, not DJ standard, e.g. not in any other DJ software. Trying to force a product wide or even industry-wide change because of another manufacturer’s proprietary format is a bit silly.
You’ve also not addressed the fact that you can have more than 8 memory cues on its own.
That was a genuine question, I’ve not been keeping up with DJ related news of late. For all I know the 3000’s might have had a firmware update with that in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No I think you did in all honestly, but I’ll agree to disagree.
Who cares if it’s standard or not or were they come from. It’s a very usefull feature and has many uses and I’m not alone on here wanting it.
And once again you don’t address the actual issue…
What would your solution be to having more than 8 hot and/or memory cues?
FFS I was not aware that was an issue. I guess you could press once shift + hot cue for an extra 8 hot cues and long press shift plus hot cue for memory cue mode with an on screen notice when activated.
HAPPY!?
Does it really matter to you or are you just trying to be awkward and pointless, because you’re certainly coming across that way.
I mean the Denon has this state of the art MPU don’t it with a huge touch screen I’m pretty sure it could be implemented in some way for memory cues if push come to shove.
The Pioneer XDJ 1000 has on-screen button functions, and it’s ancient, so I’m pretty sure Denon could do something if they wanted like that on the SC players.
Chill. If anyone is coming across as awkward here it’s not me.
You have a feature request. I pointed out a couple of potential issues with it and wanted to know what the possible solutions were. You dodged answering a few times. Not only that but you also went on the attack when I asked a genuine question about whether the CDJs have sample banks… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Back to the matter at hand, on screen might be a good way round it, I can’t really see the logic in dedicating a hardware button (or button combination) to a feature only used by rekordbox users. That would end up being a missed opportunity to use the button(s) for a more global feature, such as sample bank.
Whatever pal twist it however you like. I did not avoid nothing I simply just answered what I thought needed to be answered.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
This is a good question. There is a simple solution theoretically though that might appease.
We should be really be debating this issue over here

I would rather have 16 hot cues instead adding useless memory cues.
I used cdj’s for a long time too, memory cues were mostly used as markers, that actually everyone can live without if we use hot cues and loops - it does the job, even better. Jumping to memory cue would stop the playback at that specific cue. Jumping to a hot cue will continue the playback - more logic.
Agreed. I would love to see the page buttons in Hotcue mode jump between Hotcues 1-8 and 9-16.
Why did you swap from the PX5 to 96… Im deciding between the two at the moment
Sorry, but I do not understand why the sound quality is getting worse with a v10? Is the sound quality better when I use the v10 with a cdj 3000?
No, the sound quality wouldn’t be better with CDJs vs. SC6Ks (well, other than the Prime decks’ previously discussed audio processing issues). What I think NoiseRiser is referring to is that the Mids/Low-Mids on the V10 are not full kill. They are only -26db. Whereas, on the X:96, all EQ frequencies are full kill. But, I have watched some vids of the V10, and I think this isn’t that big of a deal. Notice in this part of Mojaxx’s review where he’s demonstrating cutting all the EQ frequencies, the sound is barely, if at all, audible. As a Xone:96 owner myself, I would be okay with this. I think the benefits of the V10 vastly outshine it’s negatives.
It all boils down to 4-band EQ and dual filters. I had a Xone:92 prior to owning the PX5. Honestly, if the PX5 had those two features, I probably wouldn’t have had the urge to switch to the Xone:96. Hell, if it just had the 4-band EQ, that would have been enough. Years and years of getting used to mixing like that is not something I wanted to do without for my personal mixer. I thought I would get used to it. Hell, nearly every time I play out it is on a Pioneer mixer with a 3-band EQ. I thought I could get used to it. It’s just not as fun. The only reason I am about to test drive (arrives on Tuesday) a V10 is because Pioneer adopted the 4-band EQ for it.
If I were you, I would just go with the PX5. It’s way cheaper. It’s got amazing EFX section. Beautiful VU meters. Industry recognized, smooth (high pass, band pass, low pass) filter. Built-in Soundcard, 1 pre/post Send/Return with full EQ control, and most importantly, clean punchy sound! BUT…if you do any scratching at all, the crossfader absolutely blows! Fortunately, if you don’t do any scratching, you can assign the crossfader as a wet/dry fader for the EFX (I loved that feature).
We all seem to travel in the same circles of mixer replacement. I also went from a 92, but went to Pioneer and ended up on a V10. Its an amazing bit of kit and the short\long delays are a dream, those and the compressors are the only thing I really miss. So many routing options the six channels soon fill up. Sound wise its okay but playing deep, melodic, progressive and dub techno I found it a really harsh aggressive sound, none of the mellow A&H warm depth we’re used to for the longer blends.
I went with the PX5 as I’ve been on my old xone23 since selling the V10, retraining my brain to a 3band EQ. Arrives tomorrow so looking forward to those effects. Have fun with the V10 and that short delay.
Thanks for the answer!
Isnt full kill decided by iso or eq mode in the settings?
I was referring to that eq in a meaning of what is left behind. After full turn counter clockwise the mids that are left, create bumps in high and low frequencies, leading to muddy bass and top sound where the tops and bass should be completely cut. The mid eq bumps up frequencies that is not supposed to. No total kill is not a problem. Eq bump - is.
