Yeah, I got mine late last night, and now I see what you mean. Yeah, there are certain aspects to the V10 that I like, but WOW, I thought I would immediately fall in love with this thing…quite the contrary. If I were to keep it, it would be quite an adjustment to my workflow. Ughh, gonna’ keep testing it over the coming weeks to see if I change my mind, but I think as the 30-day return window draws closer, the V10 might be going back. I guess all these years on an analog mixer has spoiled me.
Do any of Y’all know of a proper ‘auto bpm’ and ‘tap-tempo’ multi-EFX pedal? I like my current pedals, but I am also yearning for an EFX processor that has the option to be easily engaged and perfectly on time when I feel like being lazy. A couple years ago, Allen & Heath were hinting around that they were working on an outboard EFX unit, but I’m starting to think that’s never going to happen.
Man, you hit the nail on the head!! I took two days off from work so I could dive deep into the V10. I’ve mixed on it for about 19 hours so far. I’m really not feeling it’s sound quality. Sure, it’s punchy, but also a little too bright for my liking. I prefer the deep, warm, refined sound from the X:96. Also, the primary reason I bought the V10 was for the Auto BPM EFX. I’m not that big of a fan of those either. To be honest, I think I prefer my pedals. Granted, my pedals are a little harder to nail the correct tempo, but at least they have several parameter knobs to really dial in the sound you’re trying to achieve. The V10’s Send EFX are similar to my pedals (TEIL1 Delay, Strymon Bluesky Reverb, and Benidub Dub Echo) but they aren’t as powerful, nor do they sound as good. It’s crazy, I read so many Reddit posts, media articles, forum messages, and watched numerous YouTube videos where peeps were claiming that the V10 blew the Xone:96 away. That’s NOT been my experience at all. In fact, I think I am going to return it and just look for a powerful ‘auto-bpm’ multi-EFX pedal or desktop unit. I feel that would be money better spent.
*I too will miss the compressors though. Ughh, I wish A&H had included the same analog compressor/drive that the Model 1 has. That would have been perfect.
Upon your recommendation I have been watching vids on the Helix Stomp. It looks pretty cool, but there isn’t a whole lot of info on how well it behaves with synths. I usually judge how well a pedal will work as an effect for DJing based on it’s performance with synths. Do you know of any vids or articles where peeps demonstrate or talk about it’s use in a DJing setting?
I wish this was a thing! Being there is no data outside of USB this probably couldn’t be a thing anyway. I’m not ready to let my Rane 15 go. . . I thought about the Denon 1850 but It just seems like a down grade for comfort and nobody has been able to tell me what is so great about adding Denon mixer to the 6000’s
If you wan’t 3rd party mixer with digital SC6000 players, get DJM-900nxs2. Sound will be clean because you can have full digital signal and effects are best in business, it has BPM detection and build quality is excellent. Only thing i don’t like in the mixer is the trim being so aggressive. Other than that in my opinion it is the best all around mixer out there at the moment. No wonder it’s “industry standard”. I like having same equipment and train with what im going to use at the event im playing at.
Unique to the X1800/X1850: Ethernet hub, Engine connect, Preview track on off-air channel - auto-mutes when fader raised, Cue color matches deck color, separate Filter and Color FX controls to use simultaneously. Engine Lighting across the decks and mixer and connection to Soundswitch. For me, Soundswitch is the biggie, the others are nice-to-have. Other pluses - highly configurable (I prefer full-kill EQs - selectable), lots of inputs including a high quality sound card and DACs with 2x selectable USB inputs for B2B changeover.
Thanks TJDJ - It would be nice if we saw this in a simple Youtube video down the road from Denon! ‘Here is the SC6000 - Here is the added benefits when you add a Denon Prime mixer’ - but there are some nice additonal benefits. The lighting is nice to keep track of what deck is on which channel. Soundswitch isn’t really a thing i’d use but I can see the benefit. Preview track still works (NP) without the mixer. What does engine connect do? Trying to find something online. Got my Rane back and there probably isn’t a single feature on the lsit that warrants replacing it but it’s good to know options.
Ive a A&H Xone DB2 paired with an SC6000 and an LC6000
This mixer is so amazing. if you can find one I recommend. It sounds fantastic and The Effects are truly quality, and has a 16 beat sampler for grabbing loops, which solved my desire to have three decks to keep a loop running through multiple tracks.
The effects engines (there are two as well as two dedicated filters)) track the BPM against the SC6000 almost exactly, with perhaps a .1 variation every now and then. Nothing a nudge on the jogwheel every now and then cant fix.
You can do mad things like change the EQs into LP and HP filters, with a knob left for changing the resonance. Which is almost like turning it into a rotary mixer. Loads of fun.
Its out of support now so I wouldn’t buy to use the soundcard or integrating with software on your computer.
