3rd Party Mixers with SC6000

Ah okay, thanks. Makes sense.

With the Denon I use the hotcues as both memory cues and active cues - depending. Sure it would be nice to have memory cues separately, I would save hotcues for their actual purpose.

The auto-loop function sounds good as well. I would actually use that relatively often if it were available. At the moment you always have to remember to trigger it manually.

Yes to that static point. Whereas a hot cue would actively play it.

Yes they’re very similar and I can live with the hotcue work around but as said …

In Engine Os there is an option in the settings to have it either way. Play instantly (Trigger) or not.

I will like a way to have my hot cue settings as instant play, but to be able use the parameters button to cycle through the saved hot cues when I have the track paused.

I just watched crossfaders video on the difference between hotcues and mem cues to joggle my memory

OK that’s good, but the reality is you will then lose the ability to use active play points i.e. hot cues in that mode, so again it’s a compromise / work-around for memory cues and hot cues that is not ideal.

Yes that’s is correct.

It’s a royal pain especially using the motorized decks.

They start spinning and it becomes a 2 hand action to get the vinyl marker to line up with 12 or 2 o clock.

Typical scenario

  1. 5/6000m is parked at 12 o’clock
  2. I load track but I want to start from hotcue 4 for a scratch when appropriate to.
  3. Tap hotcue 4 and the deck starts running away.

Haha, I can imagine and as I was looking at possibly going for the SC6000M it does put me off unfortunately.

So I’ve opted to go with the Pioneer CDJ-3000 upgrade as managed to order a pair with £400 off / $557.

I’ll stick with my VL12 for vinyl.

As explained in other posts they’re both different. One is static and the other is active.

You can choose to use Hotcues in either way on the Denon players. The options are listed as Trigger and Momentary.

Is it possible to get Midi-Clock or Abelton Link from the SC6000 directly via usb or Ethernet? I would like to sync my SC6000 with ableton and other hardware. I use the SC6000s with an A&H Xone96 + Eventide TimeFactor and don’t want to switch my Mixer.

Does anyone know whether there are external sync boxes as a workaround?

Connect Ableton with Traktor via the Xone 96

I’ve got a Xone:96, pair of SC6Ks, Bozure Isolator, a few pedals (Teil1, Bluesky, and Benidub) and am also praying for Ableton Link.

Ok, but then I can also take my D2 controllers off the shelf and put the SC6000M away. :upside_down_face:

Something like the Esser Hybrid Clock that speaks the Denon Link Protocol would be awesome.

Or a native MidiClock output on the SC6000.

Doubt it will happen on the SC players I’m afraid. If Denon was to do it then it would be on a mixer (x1850)

Why? If You want to use decks with any other mixer and still want the link, than You should be able to manage it without x1850 mixer… People should have a choice…

I agree but name one more player that does?

It’s normally mixers or controllers with built-in mixers that open up Ableton. Or The DJ Software rather i,e, Traktor / Rekordbox

And that is exactly why Denon should do it. Set themselves apart from the competition. Ableton Link functionality on the players themselves would be highly attractive to a lot of people. I mean, I personally know three DJs that would immediately switch. They love my SC6Ks, but also love using Beat-Link-Trigger too much with their CDJs to ever leave that functionality behind. Beat-Link-Yrigger is cool, but it’s cumbersome to get working, and it’s also not officially endorsed by Pioneer.

Won’t happen in these greed orientated days unfortunately. It’s all about forcing the end user into an eco-system controlled by one manufacturer.

You can of course go to request it along with all the other unfulfilled requests getting to be several years old and live in hope until Denon brings out its next gen of players/mixers, and you realise those features still have not been added.

Denon has fulfilled a crapton of feature requests from this forum and then some. Both Denon and Akai have been kicking butt updating their firmware in regular intervals. Not too sure why you have doubts.

Probably because the features I wanted either got removed years ago or have been on request for years and nothing has happened. Including Ableton integration which is what my response was too when I posted my doubts.

Also, I saw many claims of Denon now do this and that only to discover actually they don’t and workarounds are needed.

And reading the requests’ forum section on here I see many features I thought would’ve been supported but seems requests have not been fulfilled.

No doubt many features have though, and I appreciate it is work in progress. But after waiting what for me is probably the best part of 3 plus years sadly I could not wait no more especially with the updated 3000’s.

If and when the day comes the features I need are finally implemented then I will gladly look at investing in Denon again.

Believe me I wanted to buy the 6000 series, but for now I have to stick with the devil I know until certain features make it across properly.
