That’s ultra shady for ending support on the 57 then… poor, no excuses apart from greed.
I don’t have a 57 mk2 to test, but it looks like someone on the algoriddim forum has one. Dropped a comment asking for an update. If it is working with macOS and iOS still, it’ll be the best budget used mixer for dvs on the market still. :-p and yes, if it’s still class compliant, that’s shitty of Serato to drop it
There was something on DJ Worx many years ago regarding class compliant gear and how they get broken by OS updates.
Support ends for products and Apple changes the way it does something in a new version of MacOS causing them not to work. It’s then a tricky thing when companies change hands and dev teams change leaving them to try and support legacy hardware. Support for a product is generally five years from when it first arrived on the scene.
The Rane SL boxes are around 15 years old now and while I can totally understand people wanting them working (I’m one of them), I can see why they have had support dropped. I have a great condition boxed limited edition blue SL3 with sealed blue marble NoiseMap CV I’ve got to try and shift in the next few months due to this!
Fully agree and I didn’t want to derail the thread into a discussion about supporting hardware… but to label the DDJ-S7 as a toy, then referencing a product from a company who’s business practises have been less than ethical is poor form imo. I’m not so much bothered about the lack of support for the old SL boxes, mixers and controllers (Numark), it was more the fact they didn’t offer an updated product for us to purchase.
Thankfully Reloop have stepped in.
The DS1 should have had more support and as you say, thank god Reloop are here!
Cool. Wait till you hear it on a real system
What’s a ‘real system’?
Asking for a friend.
The key-detection was updated a few versions back, which was a major improvement. I don’t use MiK, but Engine has been more precise on key-detection for me since that update compared to rekordbox.
I’ve been at this for nearly 40 years. I’ve played, built, and installed countless systems. When someone says that the sound of a piece of equipment is ‘hot’, that tells me that they haven’t a clue on what they’re doing and I wouldn’t want them to touch my gear.
And I’m with @STU-C. What’s a ‘real system’?
