WiFi connected but tidal not connecting

There’s a topic already on the forum for what tidal are doing to fix this etc

Not only Tidal is down but also, soundcloud as well.

Tidal seems to be working now…

Just checked and confirmed my account is back working too. Very disappointed there hasn’t been any press release from either Tidal or Denon regarding this issue !!!

Very poor !!

Thanks for your input peeps !

I’d have expected Tidal to have emailed something to those affected, after all, it’s Tidal who we pay our monthly subscriptions to.

For those confused, insisting tidal was fine because tidal on their smartphone and pc still worked and so it must be that their denon deck downloaded some new firmware all by itself without owners consent and that firmware stopped tidal working, here’s the decisive bit.

Tidal offer streaming services for the above home style devices

Tidal also offer “Tidal Connect” for rapid downloads of whole tracks to a suitable device.

Two different services. Only one of the services, Tidal connect, went down over the weekend.

After Corona goes away, I would hope that Tidal could send emails to all Tidal connect customers whenever the Tidal connect service goes down.

Mind you, this one weekend is the first time in a year and a half that Tidal connect has gone down - so it’s not exactly a regular occurrence.

All seems back to normal now.
The point here is that WE, the owners of these devices, cannot do anything about it at the moment. We’ll just have to wait it out.
Right, WE cannot do anything if some cloud services don’t do what they should. But at least, I would expect in a Denon forum concerning a problem that occurs solely on Denon devices to hear from Denon e.g. that it’s not their fault or Tidal doing their best to solve the issue.

Otherwise we simply don’t know anything - if this is a temporary issue, a complex issue with consequences for the firmware or even if the collaboration between Denon and Tidal has ended. This does not promote my confidence in the reliability of the product.

I believe, a simple information “sorry, service temporarily down due to …” would be sufficient to avoid threads like these. Communication is everything. Of course, that still leaves the question of whether the Tidal integration is reliable enough, which will have to be judged by the frequency and duration of similar outages.

I’m sure you weren’t trying to decide how important Tidal integration is to me and others, and I’m sure you weren’t trying to predict what other music sources we have - were you?

But it’s true, Tidal is back. Unfortunately without any explanation, neither from Tidal nor from Denon so far. I hope Denon is working on its communication.

I’m sure you weren’t trying to be inaccurate were you? It just happened.

It wasn’t solely denon devices that were affected.

My Roku device service (music app via smart TV and Blu-ray) was affected and my Marantz AV receiver we’re affected as well as my Primes.

The service that went down was “Tidal Connect” - this is Tidals non-PC based service.

I’d say it was Tidal who should have sent out an email to all their paying Tidal connect customers about the service being down. But we don’t know the full story, so we can be thankful it didn’t happen in the middle of an active party season - it’s lockdown instead, and that probably influenced the duration of the rare outage and the silence of Tidal about their Tidal Connect service.

Oh I fully expect to see outrage posts in the future when streaming breaks down again for somebody during a live gig.

Tidal was fixed in about 48hrs. Not really good enough for normal times but given the current situation, I expected it to take a little longer than normal. Just make sure you have some back up tunes kept local.

Some might feel that good advice would say to have 99% of your owned music with you locally and only utilise tidal or any other streaming service when you get the request for a song that’s not in your locally stored library (yet)

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to see the connection issue with TIDAL this past weekend. We are working with their team to understand what caused the temporary disruption in effort to prevent it from happening again.
