djay pro on the iPad is fantastic! I got myself a FLX4 a couple of weeks ago to play around. So much fun!
I’ve been enjoying it on the phone too Kevin:) the thought of connecting to a mixer and knocking a bit of DVS out with the phone is great.
Can’t wait to give the iPad a proper spin out though, my old one only had 64gb storage, the USB-C is a huge win too so no adapters etc
I keep on eying up the 13" iPad air with a Tb of memory. I’d jump straight away, but I need to make a decision on which controller offers the best support for DJay first.
I’m with you there, I’ve been looking at the scratch mixers that are supported and it’s pretty good but we need more added.
The list is growing though and I truly believe they are the ones to push stuff forward, they seem to be completely out of all the politics.
I just went for the 11 as I use mine to watch a lot of content and wanted something that was more compact than my laptop. Had a play around with 13 last week in a shop and it’s amazing but not sure it’s useful for hand holding in bed etc.
I can highly recommend the FLX4 for a fun portable setup. Here is a complete list of all controllers supported on iOS.
The Rane One works very nice with my iPhone although improvements can be made to the controller mapping . With that said I too want to get a new iPad but looking at the new iPad Air instead.
I’ll probably end up building my Mac mini into my controller case and get a smaller monitor as djay works the same on iOS as in Mac OS.
I need one of those, a 45 that I paid a lot of money for now has a big scratch on it after I used a kitchen knife
Luckily it’s on the run in, literally missing the actual music by a micro amount.
It’s also works well as an unauthorized sticky finger on you vinyl collection unsealer
I have a Viper Katla Titanium Stone-washed ready for that needed procedure.
On another note. I thought I would do good to have a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X (100th year edition, mini-XLR handy) to replace my trusted normal DT770 Pro, but I had to send it back. I found it too ehm “bright”. Hurting my ears when setting the volume a bit louder.
It caught me of guard. I had bought it blindly. Would have thought it had a similar audio signature as my DT880 Pro, MMX300 and DT770 Pro, but it clearly had not. Weird… might check out the DT1770 Pro, but the price of that one; wow.
Camo record bag, Technics branding, lovely.
Niiiiice! <3
I wanted the green one but they sold out so had to settle for the brown camo, it’ll be covered in crap in no time anyway as its strictly for gigs so not too fussed
Well ehm, I bought the DT1770 Pro. I just like the interchangeable cable. Doesn’t mean the DT770 is going anywhere.
Bit heavier than the DT770 Pro, because of the aluminum, but it’s fine. Sound is similar, but more refined/defined.
Mini xlr should be a gold standard for headphones
Picked up this Razer mixer so that I can have two recordings of my sets: one with me yammering on the mic and the other without.
Has built in sound card, so the signal to the computer is via USB (the bus, not storage devices)
The music output from the DJ mixer feeds into one fader of the Razer. The mic plugs into the Razer on the other channel, and you duck the music from the Razer?
(I understand the config, but just to clarify for others who may be interested)
Thank you =). Here’s a high-level diagram on how all of this is connected.
Soon the iPhone will be replaced by another PC just for dedicated Tiktok streaming
All of this is so complicated because:
- I like to record two audio streams at the same time (voice & w/out voice)
- I don’t trust Pioneer’s Audio drivers to live beyond the lifespan of the mixer
