Seems an intermittent issue for me but only since 2.0 (P4).
Load tracks to decks 1,2 & 3. Press sync on deck one. Hit sync on deck 2 & you’d expect it to sync bpm to deck 1. However, sometimes it doesn’t match the bpm & sometimes it will sync deck 1 to deck 2’s bpm!
Intermittent in that sometimes it works as expected.
Can others try this out & be observant because as I say, it seems hit & miss but only since 2.0.
Yes, it happens to me too. Can’t tell which deck is mastering in the group. If you try to move the pitch fader you will get that deck will become the master (… LEAD SYNC) of the group.
Hello,
Yesterday i used sync deck 1 and 2. with almost same song regarding the beat. When the cross fader was in the middle, and my deck faders in low volume the bass of the beat of one song was eliminated. If i was turning the crossfader left or right it was ok. After that i tried to higher volume and it was ok. But in low volume both decks play , sync on and crossfader in the middle it is like someone cat the bass frequency. Please try it and let me know but with sync on, cross fader in the middle and bothe deck faders in low volume lets say 15 %.
OK - that’s good . At least I know it is a bug.
Will Denon see this or should I post it somewhere else so that they know?
I often play 3 decks & increasingly 4. I am guilty of using sync a lot (and yes, I can manually beat match ) because my dj style is using lots of hot cues & jumping around in mash up fashion.
@mufasa - I don’t see anyway on the P4 to sync lead. Surely it is standard to hit the 1st sync on the deck you want as the master? I will investigate a little later when I’m home. Cheers.
Yes, I did notice that but thought it was just a name change & not in behaviour.
This still doesn’t explain the error though - if I understand correctly. I pressed sync on deck 1 - bpm 130 (thinking I was setting the master) & when I pressed sync on deck 2 (bpm 131), it changed bpm to 131 on deck 1. Surely deck 1 was the ‘lead’ & so it should have been synced to 130 on deck 2?
Why in the heck was it changed? The basic concept in master & slave & they just confused matters.
He cannot do this because on Prime 4 there is no physical “MASTER” button in the decks
He cannot know it because on Prime 4 (Firmware 2.0.0) there is no display of who is LEAD and who is not: the circular SYNC icon always remains green or off.
You do not see it because it is not written anywhere. You may see the two large SYNC LEAD buttons appear with variable grid tracks only.
Those blue buttons only appear with dynamic grid tracks.
With V2.0. *, Automatic selection of the LEAD SYNC (formerly MASTER) deck was introduced. The logic occurs following (in theory) the deck that is playing music for the longest time: it will automatically become the MASTER.
Using the two large BLUE buttons that only appear on dynamic grid tracks (for now), you can select which deck should be the master.
But on Prime 4 it happens that switching a deck to LEAD SYNC also happens simply by moving the pitch fader (try if you don’t believe), and this can be confusing.
Load 3 or 4 dynamic grid tracks (you will see the four blue LEAD SYNC buttons) on 3 or 4 decks, put the waveform display vertically and then start playing with the pitch fader, so you know what I mean.
bit of a long shot , since the 2.0 upgrade my sc6000 are stuck on sync/master? can’t get it off even when pressing , its like its auto when I don’t use sync, never had this issue till upgrade from 1.6.2 the other day? thanks lads
If you don’t want to use SYNC just don’t press the SYNC button and your tracks will be free to your commands. You only see the switching of the MASTER button because this happens automatically. If you want to quickly synchronize a track, you can press SYNC in the deck to be synchronized and it will follow the MASTER. But if you keep SYNC off the deck must be free. It is not so?
Right, done some playing around & it does work - albeit a little confusing. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it comes to mind but hey ho…
The sync lead only appears on the screen once you have started syncing & playing. You can then tap the button on the touchscreen to change it.
It goes as @mufasa said:
I start on deck 1 (130bpm) & load deck 2 (131bpm). I want deck 2 to be 130 bpm & so I hit the sync button (can’t remember if it goes to 130bpm straight away or if you have to trigger play first & then hit sync). Deck 2 becomes the lead. You load a new track to deck 1 whilst deck 2 is playing & if you want that synced to deck 2, you hit the sync button. That’s now decks 1 & 2 synced (2 being the lead). Hit sync on deck 3 & 4 if you want those matched once you have loaded tracks.
If you want to switch off all sync, toggle off on all decks. If you are later on deck 3 & decide you want to sync deck 4, you hit sync on deck 4 whilst 3 is playing (unlike the old way where it would have been hitting deck 3 to set the master first).
It works but for me personally, I prefer the old way.
