I would like to be able to create & update on the fly a playlist that would be played in automix mode.
So, I’ve been able to trigger the playlist deck from a given view, but once there, I found no way to update / reorder / add / suppress tracks from the generated playlist.
Also, I’ve been able to create a new playlist on the fly, to send it to playlist deck, but change in the playlist are not considered by the playlist deck which seems “read only” again.
So, could you please help to understand the right way to do that?
Instead of using automix can you not just use continuous play from the control centre. Pretty sure it does the same thing and still allow the list of songs to be edited.
Bizarrely using the automix also stops Soundswitch working too.
However, it’s not very clear (for me at least – the user manual is not very wordy here) how you manage the list of tracks that will be played with Continuous play enabled.
(1) Grab yourself an iPad and the DJAY app. It has a more robust Automix in a lightweight package. No PC.
(2) Use Virtual DJ as its the best Automix out there as it will let you do exactly what you want….. Drop a track in at anytime and it will then immediately Automix it in right away and then continue on to the rest of the tracks.. But you need a connected laptop.
Agreed. I use VDJ for the majority of my gigs and Automix is awesome. You can set up fade in and out times for each track so if you have for example a background music playlist it will run and no matter what the song order they will sound good blending together.
In Engine the sound goes dead between the tracks so it’s not that great. So if I use the controller I have to stand there the whole night manually mixing the tracks together which isn’t ideal at a 6 hour gig.
Just don’t hold your breath waiting for it to be updated with more options.. lol
I proposed several minor changes like extending the chosen Automix time from 0 to 12 seconds to 0 to 25 seconds and to also display waveforms.
Swiping in new tracks at will and changing the Automix order on the fly are very good performance suggestions as well. All of these together would make it like VDJ and I agree definitely more useful for wedding dj’s that are most likely to use zone out.
I just don’t see it happening but who knows..
I’m saying that as other more important request that folks are still waiting on haven’t even been implemented “yet” and some have over 100 votes and some are just common sense (Stem FX).. lol
I will say though Denon DJ has surprised us all before and I’m sure more surprises are on the way.
Yeah, I browsed a few topics here about “automix expectations”…
But before adding my voice to those, I’d like first to understand how is current feature working.
So I understood that “playlist deck” is read only, but still I’d like to get information on how continuous mode works…
It basically plays the tracks that you have in a playlist in the set order with no fading. The playlist can however be edited whilst it is playing and you can move tracks around when it is sorted by play order.
If you play track 1 and leave it then each track will play in sequence, but if you click in a track to highlight it then it will play that one next then continue the list from that point.
I think the difference using the playlist to deck feature is that the playlist will play through the selected track list and automatically crossfade between each track according to the Playlist Deck Crossfade Time parameter in the Settings menu.
So basically continuous mode allows playlist editing without crossfade, and playlist to deck doesn’t allow editing but does crossfade depending on the time parameter set.
