Stems Super Slow Analysis, No Progress Indicator

With the Engine DJ Software, it took me almost 24 hours to analyze my tracks for stems in a collection of 3k tracks.

I have a 20 core premium CPU, 96 GB RAM, fast SSD, etc.

Is this processing time typical?

Is it also a known issue currently that no progress is shown when you click the job queue (there’s just an overall progress indicator showing number of stem analysis tracks remaining)?

You performed stem separation on your entire collection?! Wow OK. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

As you say, the progress indicator shows tracks remaining - so what other progress do you expect to see?

Yes. Maybe you’d care to help me understand why that’s weird? To me, that’s like expressing surprise at the analysis of a whole collection for BPM, etc.

I expect to see job progress in the Job Monitor panel that pops open when I click the lower right corner of the software. Shows no running or queued jobs during stem separation.

I didn’t say it was weird. You were saying it took a long time, but then it was your whole library, so it’s not going to be a quick job. The process is a lot more intensive than BPM and key analysis.

So it’s not that you’re unable to see progress (as per title) but just that it’s shown somewhere else?

I agree that the box on the right is where we’ve previously seen things listed, so I don’t know why Denon decided to show the stem separation elsewhere.

I’m on a 13700k and it won’t do any Sims I’m on 4.2 and even if I just try one song the bar never moves never even shows progress of any kind try to uninstalling reinstalling deleting library rescanning library reimporting nothing seems to work been trying for a few days thought I’d see if anybody had any ideas

Ive tested on the below three CPU/GPU/RAM Combos

14900k, 4060ti, 128GB RAM

13900hx, 4060, 64GB RAM

AMD Z1 Extreme, 16GB RAM

Stems seems to process fine on all three, although fastest on the Laptop and Desktop. On the stems playlist, you can see Stems countdown through the tracks, with progress indicators in this Stems column. This works similarly to Serato (and also processes slightly faster than Serato).

Open your engine library and make sure none of the folders and/or sub-folders are set as read only.

There doesn’t seem to be much data in those columns, not that that matters but could indicate there files need data importing.

Have you tried selecting all your files in your library, right-clicking and selecting the reimport tags option? This has allowed others to render stand in the past that they previously couldn’t do.

I’ll try when I get home but I’ve imported all the information for the tracks a few times and I haven’t changed anything from the default download so unless the folders are set to read only I didn’t change them

I reduced my library to one song made sure to import everything several times it still won’t render any stems and it doesn’t let me click the add stem support in their performance and I couldn’t find anything under the library sitting that would suggest that folders were only read or write

This is where you will check for read only. It is odd that the Add button isnt working. Does it also not work if you have Show Stems List toggled to off?

Show stem list is toggled on

Nope that didn’t do it either

You didn’t add stems support - so it will not work…

The stem support sections greyed out and I can’t click on it I’ve got 4.2 and a Prime 4 plus

Did you activated stems on your inMusic profile?

My Prime for is registered I have the latest version of engine DJ I see no other way on the profile to activate or register for stems
