Show your home DJ booth (Part 2)

Absolutely!

I’m not looking to moving myself once we sell. I can feel it being just as strong on our boxes haha.

I love that wine fridge ! … Christmas party challenge, one glass of wine adds +1 bpm

but what do we don´t know that Stu is going from 120 to 175

It’s a classier version of the Red Bull fridges in DJ boxes across the land.

I’m all for that!

It’s horrific mate, not gonna lie

But we’re 11 days in and it’s pretty much all forgotten now.

90-175 :eyes::champagne::wine_glass::sake::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ll happily take that challenge though:)

DJ Booth status update, had a busy couple of days and we’re 90% of the way there. Just need to sand (oh joy), prime and paint the MDF sections then get the shelving and toggle clamps fit, then the decks can be rigged back up.

Nice! Basement takeover in progress I see

What’s the depth btw, looks a bit small from pics?

It’s pretty much 1cm more than the short side of a 1210, so as compact as possible. I have however decided not to trim the piece of pine board down so it’s going to stick out of the back about 3cm or so (it’s 400mm), I’ll then rout a large radius on each corner to soften it. Will post some better pics once I get it installed.

I’m going to rout slots behind the mixer so cables can disappear straight underneath onto a shelf, hopefully creating a clean look, sound card etc will all be hidden underneath too.

Looks great! I’ve never seen those kinds mdf panels before. Are they custom made?

Thanks Kevin, yeah I found a company online here in the UK who rout the patterns using CNC. it cost me about £200 for full 8x4 foot sheet (2.4m x 1.2m) and an extra 450mm piece as I needed a bit extra. The price included delivery which came by courier and cost £30. We could have gone for something cheaper but after seeing Mastersounds selling their DJ booth for over £3000 on instagram I figured a £200 investment was nothing for my own custom rig.

Sorry about the flip flop between metric and imperial, it’s a weird thing we do in Britain lol.

Edit: oh and it’s good quality moisture resistant MDF too, looks like Medite in fact, so they haven’t scrimped on the quality of the wood either.

Sanding and painting starts today :face_vomiting:

Then unpacking the last few boxes with all my ‘DJ S—t’ in, then it’s the fun of wiring it all up lol.

Thanks! I secretly wished it was some readily available material that I had not seen before :joy:

Anyways, it looks awesome!

So did I when I had to pay for it :joy:

To be honest, it seemed a bit strange that there isn’t more choice for this kind of stuff, i was expecting it to be much easier to source.

I reckon you guys over in Germany will find something similar though, given your reputation for producing high end kitchens, I imagine there’s a good market for it.

Some updated shots, just gotta cut some cable slots in the top and get it all wired up. Really happy with how it’s turned out. Need some artwork on the walls too, the more the merrier. Also going to put a corner shelf up for the left hand speaker.

Personal opinion of course, but give me this setup over media players all day long.

Hahahaha if only mate, the plan is to make it look as ‘wireless’ as possible though

Nice set ups!

Mine is not as fancy or as grand as some set up, However I do have a long history with my set up over the years.

I don’t have pictures of my first few set ups, that included some interesting gear, So I made a list below of some of my older set ups then added some pictures from my archives of set-ups.

Please bear with some of the quality of them, some where taken with an old Nikon 2mp camera (was HQ back in the day lol).

(perhaps this should be in a separate post / topic)“?”

My first two set up’s are not really worth the mention, but where kind of a non-pitch controlled Turn table with 4 speeds, (16, 32, 45 & 78) lol a tape recorder, then wired into a set of speakers.

Followed by a set of JVC’ belt driven turntables that did have pitch control and a make shift 2 ch mixer from Tandy’s (a UK Electrical store from the 80’s) @25 quid.

Then I got myself an upgraded mixer, was a phonic MRT60, Think this was a bit more fancy with more channels and a cross-fader and mic duck. (Got the user Manuel somewhere still), lol (no pic’s)

Sold the JVC’s and got a new set of 1210’s Mk2 (These, I still have and use to this day). Them the Phonic Mrt 60’s cross-fader died and channel fader’s where worn and channel bleed. So I got a Gemini PMX 15, this was a two channel mixer and is shown here along side the later added CDJ 100, and Intimidation Apex gold.

Unfortunatly no close ups of the Gemini.

So a new mixer was required with the addition of the CDJ 100 (sorry now the oppostion  )

I first tried the Allen and Heath Xone 32, ( lol again showing my age) Which was a great sound, however as you might see in the images, was a little long or big for my shelf set up, (Bering in mind I was only about 18 at this point and all cash was spent on new gear and vinyl records),

So I exchange this with the addition of +200 (799 quid In total), for a RANE Empath 3ch, made in the USA, The mixer I am still using again to this day! Just go’s to show how good things where made back then, alongside “No made in china” marks anywhere might have something to do with it. (Just my option).

I Then added some more bits to the set up like a Korg Kaoss Pad 2 and Sony Mini-disc recorder. Before everything was recorded to cassette tape.

Then Moved to Holland and anther few upgrades. First was the CDJ 400k,

The I sold the KP2 and got a KP3.

Moved house again,

Then I sold the KP3 and CDJ 400, and got an Akai MPC One retro.

Added my First Denon SC5000, (the first Unit I got, b-stock form Music store) that later returned and was refunded.

Followed by the second unit, that died after I updated it to 4.0. (Black screened out), This was again refunded back to me.

Now to my current set up and looking soon perhaps to get a new mixer. (But shhh, don’t tell the misses).

2x Technics 1210’s mk2. Rane Empath Mixer. Prime SC6000 Player. Tascam DR100 SD recorder.

Thanks for taking the time, sorry for the long post.

On-a side note, I noticed the PSP 1000 in a few pic’s lol
