Serato Sc6000m x2 + X 1850 - one deck unresponsive screen

I have been a Denon fan for many years, DJing since 1990 moving from vinyl to Serato then on to my faithful MC7000 for gigs. Now bought Serato PRO (Including Club Kit) for the X1850 and checked the SC6000M could work with Serato as well via this mixer so purchased all 3 x units second hand but in great condition. I use a Surface Laptop (Intel i78650U @ 1.9ghz + 16gb Ram) with 1 x USB port so purchased a powered hub to plug the Decks and mixer into and Serato only allows one deck (Deck 1) to select layers/deck numbers to to play music, the second deck (Deck 2) shows the same screen with the folder menu at the top and the Deck allocation at the bottom but the bottom part of the screen is not responding to select number 2 deck for Serato…also the deck lights on the second unit are not on, where as Deck 1’s lights are all on and the screen is fully functioning

To note the things I have tried so far and no success -

  1. Swapped decks over

  2. Powered all USB’s into a different laptop (to avoid powered hub) with a fresh install of Serato

  3. Swapped USB cables, using the supplied blue ones

  4. Set Decks to Factory settings. This doesn’t remove the Firmware so I also loaded the last Firmware update, then back to 4.3.3 in the hope

  5. Set Mixer to factory settings and re-installed firmware

  6. Subscribed the Serato Club Kit using one usb from mixer / or all via hub

  7. Decks are assigned as Deck 1 and Deck 2

  8. Checked all devices are running the latest firm/software - SC6000m 4.3.3 / X1850 Version 1.7 / Serato 3.3.5

Denon Engine works fine

Virtual DJ works fine which is interesting being 3rd party software and similar to Serato. Both screens are active and I can select the Second deck to work as such.

Serato recognises all 3 x devices separately in the midi window whether I use the hub on my surface or laptop with 3 separate USB ports.

I bought this set up knowing it can work with Serato and after paying for the full PRO license am loathed to purchase the full license for Virtual DJ, when Serato should work.

I know the majority of responses will be just move to Engine, which I am doing but this was a key part of sticking with Denon (using Serato and being able to read Rekordbox Playlists, vice versa with Lexicon) instead of going to the dark side and its really bugging me why this wont work when I know it should. Its also making me doubt my purchase and if something is wrong with the unit, though the fact it works with Virtual DJ suggests it is a software issue between the Denon and Serato. I have searched online and cant see similar cases bar this guy who doesn’t expand on the issue and appreciate it relates to ssc 5000 but his second deck also unresponsive https://youtu.be/E34gNlQaC9c?list=LL&t=258

Hopefully some one out there has heard or experienced this and would be really keen to see if there is a way to resovle this with out returning the units and going Pioneer!!! I will also contact Denon and Serato and hope to gain some insight from them on this issue. Really hoping its something simple I have missed! I did find this in the community Sc5000 em modo HID no serato nao reconhece deck 2 which sounds like the same problem though older SC5000

Thanks for reading and any help much appreciated… hoping it’s something really simple I have overlooked!

Can you clarify this part?

I’ve seen people literally say they put left unit on the right of mixer and right one to the left :grimacing:

In short: does only one unit have the issue where it cannot control Serato decks however you connect it or is always the last unit you try to add?

Thanks for the comment. Yes it only affects one deck, whether I place this single deck on the left or the right of the mixer, using the opposite decks cables it’s still the same.

It was a suggestion on another forum….you could just use different cables and it’s the same process as I see it!

The deck in question is correctly allocated as deck 2

I’m wondering if it’s a midi issue now in windows 10 having read that windows 11 has better midi drivers and able to account for more devices. It’s just odd that serato sees all 3 X devices separately and the deck in question partly works suggesting it’s the unit itself

I agree, it’s the deck. There was a topic on the forum, user in the end contacted Support and was provided a custom firmware for the unit.

Can you confirm the unit that does work: can you select and control both Serato decks 1, 2, 3 AND 4? One unit should be able to do all 4 decks

Hi yes the second unit works fully and all is good. Yes I can select all 4 layers on that unit alone and allocate to seperate channels.

Ok that’s interesting on the custom firmware….i am literally about to send these units back if I cant get this sorted and go to the dark side which I really dont want to do….its taken sooo much of my time trouble shooting something that should have been a simple process and I researched the hell out of it before I made the purchase.

I have a request with Denon directly so will follow up with them. Really appreciate your input, it correlates with my own thoughts and value your experienced view
