SC5000 Engine OS V4 Dual wave form

Hello,

Just updated to v4 on my 2 SC5000 that im using since 2016. Is there a reason why there is no dual stack waveform between deck and not only layer? It’s a feature requested since 2020.

maybe it’s me and I don’t know how to set it up.

Not a feature yet.

Almost everyone with these or 6000s are waiting for this feature. I even know someone who went back to pioneer just because of it

Back to a CDJ3000, I presume?

Cheap as chips doing that

All just to still only see 2 waveforms on screen.

Yes, back to Pionner but “new” to 3000s now. Stupid way to burn money IMO but oh well… If pioneer can do it, Denon should be able to too I guess

And 5000s are still very good capable devices.

It look like they forgot to put the feature.

The massive difference between the two though, Denon players are dual layer, so would they have to have 4 stacked waveforms? Or limit it to 2? Would people be happy losing their layer B waveform in order to stack across players? Are 4 stacked waveforms across the network feasible? Would it impact UI performance?

2 would be perfectly fine. They can check how VDJ does it thought. Works really well there. Your waveform on top and whatever deck is master is below and changes depending on who is the master right now.

Don’t Prime device now live render the waveform making it impossible to just send the image across the ethernet?

Yeah it’s not stored in the DB anymore. I imagine that might impact it.

Other Pioneer devices don’t have this option in hardware I think, so was just a guess.

Only the lead waveform is needed across.

I believe the feature is supported in up to 4 x CDJ 3000 networked.

We wait and see …fingers crossed

I dont use layers

I agree, not needed because 4 waveforms on each player would be a bit much

I was just making the point that there are other factors to consider on the prime units over the CDJs that may be complicating matters for the developers.

If you connect 4 decks together there’s potential for 8 tracks playing at once and it could get quite messy for handling stuff over the Ethernet.

We also have the ability to tap the BPM to change the lead now, what would be the turnover time for this to update on other devices? Is it expected to be instant?

Also as mentioned above, the waveform is rendered live by the unit, so I guess that somehow has to be factored into the solution. How is that going to work? A player has to render the track it’s playing then also render a track it isn’t playing on that deck.

Not sure how Rekordbox renders waveforms, if it’s the same as Engine or are they still storing it in the DB?

Well. Extremely shattered. I thought the update would do just that after watching the youtube videos but alas, it is only between layers.

Extremely disappointing. Feel ripped off because none of the youtubers actually mentioned it.

They missed out quite a lot of info between them. Its always best to read the official release notes.

I am totally not interested in this feature because the only moving waveform at most I ever want showing on the Prime player separates is the layer that is currently selected on the unit. Preferably, I’d like to hide even that moving waveform or at least zoom out double on it from what we currently can. I do want the unit’s both layers’ whole static waveforms visible when something is loaded to both, but in stacked view I also don’t want them staying in the same position, rather I want the needle drop for the currently selected layer at the bottom.

I was so hyped by the update trailer, hoping this loooooooong requested feature would finally make it to my SC60000s, but no… got disappointed again. I just cannot understand why there is not even a statement why they do not do it? Dear Denon dev team, this is a bread and butter functionality imho, please implement it.

Well, it would actually be more uncommon if there was a statement, as it would be completely out of character for any DJ gear company to take this step.

It only exists on one single other device on the market at present, a device that currently retails at £4299 a pair in the UK right now, so im unsure where that stance derives from.
