Don’t know about live stems, but faster chip, and stacked waveforms between players are needed.
If a SC7000 or whatever is coming, then highly probably alongside or shortly after a successor for the Prime 4, maybe also Live 4, and certainly most AKAI products, since many of them are from 2020, or even 2019 (like the Force).
All of them should get a (much) stronger chip than the current one (from 2014), more RAM and higher bus bandwidth, helping to ride the current big wave with Stems and more upcoming Ai-based shenanigans, next to increasingly complex plugins for the MPC/Force. A positive side effect would be faster loading, buffering and GUI response times, even if you don’t need these features.
As for the hardware, the SC6000 are still great players. Make the screen a bit brighter and/or less reflective, improve the tension adjust for the static jog and the motor for the M-variant further, make the jog screen more informative, and we’re good. Play/Cue already had been improved, though I would guess the ones on the CDJ3000 are still a bit more robust and tactile, as Pio/AT put an extra emphasis on them in their release notes and materials. Pitch fader still feels smoother on all Denon gear to me.
The pitch faders on Denon gear are the closest I’ve felt to the god tier 1210 faders in digital world, really really nice. Nothing beats the 1210s for feel but these come close.
The 6000s seem pretty quick there were issues a few months ago where there was a delay with searching but that seems to have been addressed.
Anyone seeing new sc6000s available anywhere in the US?
Reverb, eBay mostly
I just popped in Dance Planet in Porto. They have an SC6000 on display and told me they are available from them. I didn’t think to ask if they are used, but it seems they meant new.
Edit: checked back today, yes, they have new units.
I was just looking for another 6000M to buy new, and couldn’t find them at any US retailer. I went through several pages on Google….nothing available!!!
Probably a 6000 plus coming out
And possibly a load of DJs seeing how poor value the cdj3000x is , and buying SC6000s instead ![]()
There’s no need for yet another plus model based on the 2014 Rockchip. It’s time to move on to a newer architecture, which they are highly probably working on for a while. Sell the remaining stock of 6000s, produce some extra if the demand is that high, and go straight to the 7000s once ready, together with a more premium X1900 mixer.
Denon DJ could, however, keep the two “SC6000” and “SC7000” lines running parallel to each other.
The SC7000 would target demanding DJs who want the latest technology, a powerful processor for real-time stems, etc.
The SC6000 would target DJs who don’t care about stems or the latest processor-intensive technologies and who just want to do classic beatmatching.
This could potentially lower the price of the SC6000 slightly compared to the SC7000, which would have a higher price point. The SC7000 would then become the new flagship.
A bit like what Pioneer did at the time with the CDJ 2000NXS and the CDJ 900NXS.
Two models, for two budgets.
Yeah, the lack of affordable mid-range single deck is striking. On the Pioneer side, the 900NXS or XDJ1000 are hopelessly outdated and underpowered. On the Denon side, the SC5000 is no longer in production, but the SC6000 could indeed fullfill that role in the price range of $1100-1200 (costing less than half of a 3000X), while the SC7000 could be price closer to $2000 and represent the new flagship.
Same for the X1850 - but only if it gets a small revision with improved linefaders and a reliable batch of OLED screens. Whole setup (SC6000 x2 + X1850) could also be offered as set for $3000.
I was looking around for a new sc6000 but nobody has any available now state side unfortunately.
Was a good run starting off with the sc5000 then the sc6000’s. Wish they updated the x1850 to have user replaceable faders.
Have to see if Denon will come out with a new version. Be a shame to see true separate players like the sc5/6000 replaced by all in one’s.
Probably explains the ridiculous prices asked for these units on flea bay lately.
Check out reverb. There are some Mint / like new on there sometimes.
You know, this has got me thinking…..does this also apply to parts? I mean (knocks on wood) my SC6KM has ran flawlessly since I bought it, but in the event that I would need a repair, are there going to be parts readily available?
I think it’s ridiculous that InMusic/Denon DJ have allowed all this speculation to run rampant. Like others have stated, there was a great run for several years where products were readily available globally. But, for the past couple years it’s all been up in the air. Retail stock is patchy at best. This _____ (fill in the blank) random country may have stock, but nowhere else in the world does. It’s ridiculous. Has the SC line been discontinued or not? Y’all can’t say my frustration of not knowing this is unreasonable. It’s been years of crickets.
It’s sad, because I have been recommending SC6000(M) decks over 3000s and 3000Xs for the past several months only to have the peeps hit me back asking where to buy them!! Believe me, AlphaTheta doesn’t have this issue.
That’s exactly where my mind went too when I saw the discontinued bit. My experience from sharing this viewpoint usually results in replies that undoubtedly come about defending a brand like “x can’t keep parts in stock indefinitely” or “these things go out of date so fast who cares buy the next new shiny” but fail to look at the whole picture and longevity of what you buy.
This has always been a sore spot with me surrounding Denon and their after sales support and parts availability. If anything breaks and you want to repair yourself they don’t exactly offer a parts list like they used to from 20 years back when it was somewhat easier to procure parts and diagnose repairs. Now it’s more along the lines of “it’s broke, buy another” but what about when they are discontinued and there are zero parts available? This is where some other manufacturers do better so your investment can still live on and get repaired long after the paltry 1 year warranty is up.
You got me thinking since I have an older set still of cdj-400’s I have hung onto that I am still able to source a full schematic on as well as available parts The sc5000’s are coming up blank in that area say for some play cue buttons and that’s it, can’t replace the pitch fader, platter or even the front plate let alone the main board or PSU.
This is an area that Denon, to me, could stand to improve upon, after sales support and parts availability.
I’m hoping they decide to continue the scXXXX line in some form or fashion going forward as it is a great piece of gear and far beyond anything else offered and it’s affordable ( even if they did jack the cost up after the sc5000’s were released wirh mixer combo deals )
Hi folks, I am located in Germany. My goal was to order a pair of SC6000. My dealer only has 1 unit in stock and is waiting since almost 2 weeks for an info if he can order new units or not and if so how long I have to wait for the 2nd player. Wait and see…. It somehow seems unprofessional and untrustworthy to me.
Both musicstore.de and thomann.de appear to have them in stock? ![]()
enough stock available
They have, yes. But I would prefer to buy at another dealer who is close to my hometown. But he currently does not get any info by Denon if/when new units are available again. Even InMusic told me to buy at Thomann because they have no glue about the availibility of new units.
