Cant wait for all the inane feature requests from prophets of doom claiming ā€˜Denon will lose the game’ if their ā€˜i never knew about this feature 2 days ago and now cant live without it’ request isnt met yesterday.

Pardon my extreme cynicism.

On a serious note, the light on the front is interesting, that used to denote a slot for a CD, so will be interesting to see what it means on this deck.

I wonder if it’s a slot for those ā€œUSBsā€ that people talk about. Something about USB DJs or something?

Hahaha possibly, that would be a switch up from the current placement, and possibly a bit better as less chance of people being able to yank it out.

Before releasing it they must have approval from Fisher Price

I’m pretty sure this is the next CDJ, and I’m pretty sure that—as usual—it will be a slight evolution of the previous model.

Something like a slightly larger screen, perhaps with better resolution, improved converters, maybe USB-C support…

But don’t expect anything revolutionary like:

  • Dual-layer
  • High-quality real-time stems (AT is way too stingy to put in chips powerful enough for that)

What we can possibly expect:

  • USB/SD slots moved to the front instead of the old CD slot (copied from Denon)
  • An internal SSD bay (copied from Denon)
  • An improved CPU (but still not good enough for real-time stems)
  • An AlphaTheta logo
  • A $500 price increase

In short, AT always seems to be chasing Denon DJ. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about AT products.

That’s the usual rubbish that pioneer / ā€˜Alf are faulty come up with …. An new model number, a new price tag, a few existing buttons moved around

All of y’all’s predictions are wrong.

This will be a single standalone unit to do all the things.

Press one button, and it will ā€œDJā€ for you. This device will use AI automatically sense the crowd sentiment (no cameras, all vibes — because vibe coding paved the way), and generate all the music on the fly so that the ā€œDJā€ can twiddle all the knobs, do the Jesus pose, tickle the air and whatever ā€œDJsā€ do for likes and subs.

The crowd can also take part in the ā€œDJ’sā€ performance — download the new app, point your phone’s camera at the booth and it will automatically take the best cinematic shots of the DJ’s poses for the gram.

This new app will be able to allow the crowd to take part in the ā€œperformanceā€ by mashing buttons, enabling the creation of Hype and Sync’ing the music to the visual effects.

This device will also stream music from all of the services, no wifi, cellular or satellite connection needed. It will simply use the vibes from the crowd to get all the data it needs.

Speaking of vibes, electricity is all provided by the crowd through wireless means.

Yup. This will be a game changer.

Maybe DDJ-XYZ

As an old-school DJ who doesn’t spend his time taking selfies while posing to gain followers on Instagram and other social media, this isn’t really the kind of evolution I’d expect from DJ equipment. Because what interests me is the technique and the possibilities for creative performances.

And aside from high-quality stem separation on the fly without preparation and a synchronized ā€œloop samplerā€ function to incorporate drum loops or loops extracted from other tracks, I don’t really see what new things we could really bring to existing equipment.

We’ve reached a point where we’ve hit a kind of glass ceiling in terms of functionality.

I’m not necessarily against AI integration, but not to replace the DJ’s work. However, things like track suggestions that might pair well with the current track could be interesting. We don’t always think of everything and that can sometimes be inspiring.

USB port on the front with a light to see the in the dark. Never been done before.

Stares at launch day SC5000 on my desk.

I’m sure it’s not for me (still happy with my 6000s), but I’m glad at least something is happening. The whole industry has become stale in recent years. It’s been a while since I’ve been excited for a new product.

See for me, the new RP-7 turntable is one of the absolute best products released in years, and funnily enough the Flux (also from Reloop) is another game changer.

But i agree on the whole the digital DJ space has been pretty uninspiring for a long time, the compatiblity of products between software is an utter mess too. Why certain mixers are locked down to single pieces of software in 2025 is an absolute joke.

I’d love to see an affordable CDJ with LINK Cue so I can add one to my setup to keep on top of playing at venues with Pioneer.

But who am I kidding, I have a better chance of winning the lottery than AT releasing something affordable LOL

The XDJ-700 is still a live item

It doesn’t support track pre cueing and the search is cumbersome. I’d like a modern piece of kit, not a piece of :poop: LOL

Hahaha yeah I get you, hence the wink emoji. These companies now think controllers are the affordable option unfortunately.

Idk. Media players turning into instruments seem to be a thing.

Controllers forces the end user into a software ecosystem keeping them tied to services and walled gardens.

Standalones’ don’t, it gives users the option. Once a AiO standalone ticks all the open format DJ boxes then the game changes.

If you look at the XDJ-AZ a lot of DJs are using it without software. Imagine the Rane One MK2 with a 12ā€ touch screen and embedded Serato (IMHO Serato will be a mobile/imbedded OS soon), open format DJs would dump laptops IMHO.
