yesterday evening I played at a wedding I had a big problem with the console freezing which affected the sound the worst thing that could happen to me I had to play on a laptop and a small replacement console luckily I am an old school DJ and I don’t trust electronics so I always have a backup
Vinyl and Cdj’s never ever have problem I thing to come back to my cd’s
Not enough to go on for any sort of diagnosis- a lot of the time it’s venue related - eg: over the years a venue has added a few extra power sockets, a few more, a few more, even more… year on year … or there’s a marquee tent running from a 1000 metre extension lead, with every piece of nasty catering equipment flicking on and off keeping temperature etc, or poor or no earth/ground etc - or worse still, running off of a generator - gigs which I now turn down
Could be almost anything and , not likely to be firmware , unless you changed the firmware since it was all last working well.
Vinyl and Cdj’s never ever have problem I thing to come back to my cd’s ??? Really mate?
Are you seriously going to claim that you have never been “stuttered” by the sound from a CD player?
Or do you think scratched vinyl records and CDs are reliable media?
Broken phono needles (?)
I don’t know of a more unreliable method of data capture than the optical CD drive. Never again CD media, worst data medium ever.
Note. I’ve been an active DJ for almost 35 years and have played for many years on turntables, professional CD players (Denon DN-S, or DN-D series, or Pio CDJ1000, 2000 series etc.) , and in those days I had a lot more trouble with sound than I do now with flash storage media as my music source.
Yes my friend I have many times stuttering on my CD but I always know it what time and what song is stuttering.
And now my problem is different I don’t know the controller electric music from SSD drive or USB drive or tidal what is The reason from where my problem is coming.
I connect my controller now at home and playing twenty hours and nothing happen.
I must found the problem now because I have many weddings parties and now I can’t trust my Denon
The only thing is the power supply on Villas I playing last night
I put the volt matter in Villa and I have 238 standard volt
I’d suggest downgrading to 4.2.0, it is the most stable now and you won’t lose that many new features and bug fixes, going under 4.0.1 will need you to rebuild database since 4.0.1 brought new database and it converted your external media to new database, it will not be compatible with versions below it
And instead of saying this, you could actually submit more info for this bug report, like OS version, device, external storage, some settings (using streaming platforms, Soundswitch, etc.)
As I wrote earlier during the event began to jam the sound and waveforms fortunately I always have a second console I switched to do a restart Denon after the restart began to do the same thing and I gave up until the end I played on the replacement console.
Now I have everything connected at home as it was at the party and nothing happens
I don’t know what thing about this bug the only thing is the power supply nothing in Villa else everything is working fine at home
Common issue with cutting off the sound and stopping waveforms is with vinyl mode detecting ghost touch. It si usually when grounding is bad in a venue. Your jig wheels detect touch, when you don’t touch them, effectively stopping the music. Do you have any stickers or protection foil on jog wheels? Did you tried to turn off vinyl mode?
I plugged into a cheap looking 4 gang extension lead at a gig a few months ago (I usually use my own surge protected lead) and the same thing happened. There was a phone charger with cable trailing on the floor also connected too.
I’ve since only plugged my device straight into the wall outlet and not had any more issues.
It was the first time in ages that I used their cheap extension and the first time in ages I had the problem.
Thanks very much for answer I thing if I have the same problem again I close vinyl mode at first and after or the phone or fog machine because this time I have all on 1 line power supply, Villa give to me only 1 slot to connect everything.
i carry a good quality surge protected extension lead with me, they are fairly cheap on Amazon, if you can plug that in, it should aleviate a lot of the issues for you.
Unfortunately we cant control the wiring at venues and the circuits are often overloaded (As Pasha alluded to).
For those of you who do gigs is it not worth investing in one of them camping battery packs like bluetti, ecoflow or jackery etc?
They’re always on a deal on Amazon with 30 or 40% off some of the bigger ones.
There’s a lot of negativity around here atm & I was thinking yesterday while having a 3hr mix in my oven (shed with no aircon) I’m on a Mixstream pro go running off battery using os 4.2 with no issues whatsoever, I’ve only got a temporary 25m outdoor reel extension lead running from my house to power 2x qsc k10s & 2x fans (just to blow hot air in my face ha ha).
But before I did all this I was considering buying one of these portable camping battery packs, so wouldn’t it be worth it for some of you to bypass dodgy electrics in a club, all your plugging into it is your own gear no speakers or extra amps etc so it’ll last you hours.
I personally wouldnt want to lump around the extra weight Andy, and ive found over the years that carrying your own good quality 4 gang extension and managing what is being plugged into it is the best way to alleviate any issues.
I don’t understand how you have all these problems? Every party I go to I set up my setup, smoke machine, hazer, moving heads, strobe laser, all on the same line, and 18 inch fbt subwoofers and 15 inch fbt heads, all on the same line, all this with a prime 4 plus, and I’ve never had any problems
Disable anonymous data sending in the settings to see if that improves the situation. Apparently, this feature seems to take up some CPU resources, which makes scrolling through the waveform sometimes jerky.
