Hy. My problem is the following: my Prime 2 does not want to enter in computer mode to conect it with my VDJ on my Mac. Running the latest version 3.3.0. I checked with a Pionneer gear and it worked so its not the software or the laptop. Please help me to sort it out. Thank you.
Are you saying the device doesn’t enter computer mode at all, or it does but you’re not able to see it in Virtual DJ?
It doesn’t at all. Otherwise it is perfectly functional in stand alone mode. Im thinking to change de usb cable, maybe that is the problem, but I think is smt different
But 13 days ago it worked or?
Yep, it worked two weeks ago. Since then, I updater my mac, that is the only change. But pioneer gear worked fine with that update.
So what exactly happens when you swipe down on the screen, select source and then tap the computer icon? can you video it.
Have you tried it with no USB cable attached?
I will make a video. Sorry, but what do you mean with no USB cae attached? I tried it without the laptop and its working fine.
Yeah so try putting the unit into computer mode without the cable connected, then connect the cable. You said above that ‘computer mode’ isn’t working at all.
This is the link where you can find 4 videos I just made.
Ok so I think you need to try the following, as there should be a popup on Mac that asks you to ‘allow’ the device access.
- disconnect laptop from Prime 2
- put Prime 2 in computer mode
- connect laptop to Prime 2 with VDJ CLOSED
- Popup should appear to allow access to files
- open VDJ
If the popup doesn’t appear you need to go into your Privacy and Security settings and change the setting for ‘allow accessories to connect’ to always and see if that works, once done you can change it back to ask.
I changed tge security settings as you suggested, but no pop-up
hmmm, sorry I don’t know what else to do… do you have a drive installed in the Prime 2 and if so can the computer see it in disk utility when you connect?
That USB-C conversion cable might be causing issues, I bought a USB-C to USB-B cable from Amazon to connect mine.

Ok so I think the drive being the wrong format could be what is causing the issue, you may need to format it as FAT32 so it’s viewable in engine desktop. This incompatibility may be causing a wider connection issue regarding VDJ.
Failing that, try another cable.
The thing is a cannot access that ssd drive to format it. None of my laptops see it, Mac and Pc neither. So I will just take it out.
Just noticed the difference between Pioneer and Prime 2: the usb cable is fixed on the pioneer usb b port but is wiggleing (its not fixed) on the Prime 2 port. Could it be a contact issues of the cable and the port?
Possibly, although wiggling it should make the controller see it, did you buy the Prime 2 used?
It was new. I took out the ssd, i checked the laptop settings, and changed the cable. The controller has the latest soft, what else could it be?
See they don’t come supplied with an SSD so are you 100% sure it’s new? You have to purchase your own SSD.
The only thing I’d suggest is trying a different cable and if it isn’t working send it back to the retailer.
I bought the ssd and it was as well new.
