lol i know pioneer fans r mad right now lol
Ahh but itâs âindustry standardâ lol so theyâll be shoving those loop in / loop out at the pioneer sheep for decades
In this case I prefer to be outside the industry standard. Since I discovered loop encoders I could never go back.
âI donât want to be racistâ proceeds to be low key bigoted when comparing manufacturers LOL
Interesting wording used on the promo video
Could it be theyâre going to try going it alone without controller co-conspiring with DJ softwares like traktor and serato ?
Or could it just be them making a point that everything controllerish after this model will be AlphaTheta rather than pioneer? Same lack of innovation, different badge
Interesting to see how fast people are dropping their ancient XZâs now, while still charging similar or more than for a brand-new Prime 4+. Highest one with case is over 2800âŹ. Just nuts.
TBH: If a Prime4mk2 will drop my Prime4 will directly be onsale
Problem is that peeps are willing to payâŚ
Phil Morse of Digital DJ Tips did a review of the XDJ-AZ and it kinda rubbed me the wrong way. At the end of the day, he wasnât reviewing the Prime 4+ on itâs merits, but rather on how it felt like home for him. He kept referring to a club standard which is something that most DJâs would never experience or desire, rather than the ergonomics and layout. He also completely ignored how the FX on the Prime 4 have a much better implementation that on the Pioneer. It seemed like a hack job if Iâm honest. Iâm trying to let it go, but I canât
His name is Phil Morse.
You think? I mean thatâs how the whole Pioneer sales thing works. There are lots of muppets out there that buy into the âclub standardâ story.
The XDJ-AZ seems like a nice unitâŚ
Although I feel itâs late to the party, besides taken their best FX like Mobius (which I already added to my Prime 4), Helix etc, and adding their new headphone thingyâŚâŚ Whatâs new?
Well hereâs my thoughts as a Prime 4 ownerâŚ
Itâs basically a four channel XDJ-RX3 without the Pioneer DJ branding and with less rear connectivity.
You canât have four large waveforms going at once, just two large ones and two to four mini ones and even smaller ones in the jog screens.
No zone out and No zone-out automix. Yes, the Prime 4 has a zone-out automix option for those that are unaware (Not to be confused with continuous mix).
No standalone lighting controls!
No internal hardrive option.
No Fader Start as Prime 4 has this!
No beat keeper.
Canât adjust the screens viewing angle.
No built in Samples!!
No fader start!!
One streaming source! Woo hoo!
Only one Ethernet jack for wired internet or connectivity to Pro link components. You would need a USB to Ethernet adapter taking up the rear USB. No send & Receive!
Plus a Paid Subscription to Rekordbox is needed! At $3,199 you would think they could have at least included the pro version or offered a lifetime promo.
I will say itâs always nice to see new gear!
However, The XDJ-AZ is absolutely no threat to the Prime-4 and even lesser threat to the Prime-4+ with BT/STEMS. And itâs definitely not amped up for mobile DJs as the Prime 4 and Prime 4+ are more flexible having zone out & lighting controls.
->Sorry, But paying more for less is not my thing. YMMV
*Now if this thing made coffee & toast in the morning maybe Iâd buy it⌠but not at $3,199!! lol
In my opinion, Denon DJ if it has new hardware ready, it should release it now that Alphatheta is struggling with this new XDJ-AZ and take advantage of this impasse to gain new potential customers.
I think if any new equipment is going to be unveiled it will definitely be at NAMM.
Denon DJ hasnât been present at NAMM lately. No reason to hold back. Please give us something before the tariffs hit the USA.
Of course, it all depends on whatâs ready. I presume production still has real issues.
The fact theyâre producing plus versions shows something is amiss with innovation or development.
For example the Prime Go+ should have had USB-C and 5v charging, tilting screen and a M.2 slot after 5 years to bring it âup to dateâ.
IMHO those are major engineering and hardware redesigns, that costs money which would take away from software and feature development. Youâre looking at it like a new iPhone every year is better, itâs not. I personally wouldnât want incremental hardware changes to foster in new feature changes like what Pioneer is doing. R&D is a huge cost and that cost is passed onto the consumer.
Have a look at the Denon Prime roadmap, hardware that stays familiar and software stability increases features and matures the ecosystem. The addition of the + devices means under the hood at the DSP level Denon is adapting to the needs of future software and features for DJs.
FYI I can power/charge my Prime GO with 100w PD USB-C to DC adaptor and a 60w PD wall charger, for a cost of $30, I use a laptop stand from the Dollar Store to tilt the Prime GO and a Samsung T7 shield SSD. And I didnât have to buy a whole new unit to do it LOL
Iâm not really sure how much more âinnovationâ is there these days, DJ gear on the whole is ultra mature in its layout and workflows.
We need USB-C power delivery on DVS mixers so we can have a one cable solution for laptop connection, thatâs one of the main things Iâd like to see.
But VR glasses are a game changer!!! LOL
Hahahaha, I kinda knew that was coming
