Not sure if it can, but it 100% doesn’t right now.
Yeah. I noticed Mojaxx switched his pronunciation when he started working for DJ City. He became more Americanised with dollars and bucks creeping in.
stems or streams? The answer is limited.
Best device on the market for the Steams.
The question we ask ourselves… Is music not analyzed by RKB software, from an external medium finally analyzed in the AZ when loading a file into a deck???
No sample
No touch FX
No scalable Fx bank (since there is just one FX box)
No view of the 4 decks (this can be practical if you want to dedicate and transform a deck into a sample player, that is to say create a single audio file with Audacity that would contain several Samples and then create hotcues to play any element, having the visual allows you to play the right sample sample)
Support: No 3 USB ports, No internal SSD, No SD reader
No ExFat support NO… but Alphatheta are you serious with your ■■■■■■■ FAT32
evolved guys, there is nothing like it to lose performance in reading and writing with storage of more than 256 GB
. (I hope there is just a lack of precision on the compatible formats ???)
Plastic product
Weight of 13kg not very practical in terms of portability for an all-in-one product, especially if you add a flightcase we are on 23/25kg
Only 2 providers (Streaming) Cloud and Beatport
No Stems except with SDJ or RBK
No bluetooth output
No lighting control (without a computer)
No customization of the docks by color
A product that will not be or very little scalable with updates and in less than 3 years … there will be a model lol.
The only positive points are:
The 10-inch screen “without anything revolutionary”
The size of the jogwheels
Taglist equivalent to “Prepare” on another brand with the only advantage of being able to transform the music on hold into a playlist.
The BT headset (very expensive €439) could have been nice but 9ms of latency is starting to get a bit much, especially if you use it in controller mode, it will be a disaster, since if the computer is not efficient, the control of the functions and the actions performed will have a minimum latency + the headset latency! Well, after all, there is no point in buying a standalone controller to use it with a computer (there will be PC/Controller configurations for less)
It seems that they have not yet updated their FAQ page. The manual says on page 10 that exFAT is supported. It is already supported on the XDJ-XZ … FAT32 is needed for some older players though, which can still be found at some venues. When I am going to play on Pioneer gear, I always use a small FAT32 USB stick and convert all files to 44.1kHz and 16 Bit, it is ok for me …
I have often played on an XDJ-XZ, it’s not that bad. And I am looking forward to trying out the new XDJ-AZ … Whether I like it or not, I expect to encounter the XDJ-AZ in the wild some day. I think, it will be fun.
Plastic product
So is the XDJ-XZ, but to me it does not feel cheap or flimsy. If the casing were all-metal or steel, it would be a tank. These units are really heavy. While anything below 20 kilograms may still be ok for muscle-packed DJs, it is too much for me. The SC Live 4 is all I would be willing to carry to a gig.
I’m not even sure that the thinking heads at AT still know where they live these days.
This AZ is sold with a difference of only 400 €/$ with Opus quad. Suffice to say that AT has just killed their own opus quad product.
Ayup, you can also add the removed Send, Aux-In and LAN-Hub. Strange considering how spacious it the backside is. It‘s also baffling their flagship AiO lacks the magvel fader.
OT: This should had been the ‚Pioneer‘ and the Opus Quad the ‚Alpha Theta‘ - they really messed that naming up, lol.
When is our Numark Prime 8 Performer showing up?
There is still a market for style over substance though, so the Opus will no doubt still sell to the fashionistas
Yes! The opus will sell a little better, it has gone below €2900 in France!
I think having had a chance to read up on the AZ, the Prime 4+ is still the better device overall however the larger jogs and ‘club standard layout’ will likely appeal to those used to using pioneer devices, I feel to a point Denon kind of shot themselves in the foot with the Prime 4/+ layouts as these should have mirrored the x1850 mixer layout and instead was focused on the sc live 2 and 4. Perhaps when the Prime 5 is released they may utilise the standard layout for that then again for those already using the 4 and + this may put them off buying it as it will be a change to what they have become used to.
With the exception of Stems, I doubt Denon/Engine are are too concerned at present, the current Denon Gear still holds up, the updated user interface is great in my view, there are few tweaks that need to be made to improve it, for example having four large wave forms on screen at the same time with the playlist display still being accessible on the main screen, and the playlist bank option that RB offers would be a feature I would like Denon to make their own version of and include it in a future update.
I think I will be sticking with Denon for now as I am happy with what I have, some news on stems would be welcomed though.
I like this controller. Especially cool is the build-in SonicLink with wireless headphones. Most of what I didn’t like with Opus-Quad and XDJ-XZ is now gone, and there is a lot to like about this one.
Yeah an x1850 type layout for the mixer part and especially full size jogwheels, with tension adjustment and with in-line pads like on SC6000.
This is what prime 4+ is missing to be a real XDJ killer
One feature on the AZ that I do like is the ability to show pad info on the jogwheel displays.
It puts the info nearer to where you need it (the pads) rather than half a mile away on the main screen, that takes real estate away from the browser/decks etc.
from Elpha Tetta …
I’m Canadian. It’s Alpha-ghetti.
While I agree the pic did look weird…I knew the AZ was in the pipeline… And now we know it’s totally legit
Yeah the skewed dimensions and weird colours didn’t help.
Or Alpha-Guetta
