Onboard Stems Arrives For DJs! Rane System One Wins The Race

Looks like somebody jumped the embargo

they just remove the video

My favorite thing about all of this, is that all the DJ Tech influencers who said this would never happen get to eat crow :joy:

the feature is out and many have the new 5.0 update so not sure why the video is removed

prime controller series also will received this update?

Looks like only + and newer devices. IMHO I’m ok with pre rendering stems for the SC5000 and Prime GO.

ya ,but how come they didnt add colour code along the star rating?

1 year at a time, lets be thankful for the update lol

I feel sorry for @Homeland101. They were distraught over the lack of stems and may have returned their Rane S1.

as excited as I am for 5.0, im confused on why so many posts and videos say you no longer need a laptop, you still need the laptop to export the files to a flash drive and THEN you can create stems on the RS1

If someone walks up to you with a formatted flash drive with some random dance tracks on it and you plug it in to the System one, you cannot create a stem file from it, it has to have some kind of Engine DJ database attached

You bring up two very good points.

Also why wouldn’t you just render stems on the computer you’re transferring files from before you transfer them?

Ok Team the Stems added is a big plus but the on the fly option is almost a no go the rendering is so slow I would say on the fly anything maybe snails pace , I you could give it more power to speed it up would be extremely helpful

Is this true? Phil in the DigitalDJTips video explicitly says that it will work if someone rocks up with a Rekordbox USB. Sadly I don’t have an RS1 to check :joy:

As soon as you load a track from that USB, it creates an Engine database on the USB. The track gets analyzed by the unit (bpm, key, waveform) and if you’d want stems, you start stems analysis with a slightly faster than realtime timeframe.

So much misinformation. So many people making assumptions and making statements that are just not true. :man_facepalming:

To answer this one:

Because it needs advance planning & masses of hard drive space (as Mojaxx mentions).

Rendering on the device allows you to make on the spot decisions, should you be inspired by a request or by seeing track in your library.

If you’ve never used on-the-fly stems with DJ software, you haven’t lived :slightly_smiling_face:

this 100%. same reason i cant understand why they cant just readd stems to the prime 4 plus in the menu with a toggle to turn it on and off. even if it sounds “bad” having the options is better than nothing
