@JWiLL, InMusic staff, made the only “formal” announcement about Engine DJ development for the Rane System One a few weeks ago. It was focused on OmniSource. The thread was closed immediately, so maybe some missed it.
Correct, but it’s the only official announcement we’ve gotten. Perhaps it indicates where the focus is. We can hope that we would get a similar announcement regarding stems development from InMusic one day. Everything else is meaningless conjecture.
I spoke to a little bird! He told me that Engine 5.0 should be released with the stems on board, then he also told me that the new Denon products should have been released in May, but due to the ongoing war and everything has been postponed until September, I got the XDJ AZ and for the moment I’m also keeping the Denon products that I already had, I’ll wait and see what happens, but if nothing changes and nothing comes out in September I think I’ll give up and change products!!
The stems were demoed previously in a YouTube video by Jake Hill on the System One but that was in January so why the delay? The firmware he had loaded was 4.6.0 beta on the video.
I was at the fair in Rimini last week! The fair was the MIR! There were about thirty consoles, the aluminum ones that mobile DJs use, and on each one there were different products starting from the turntables, mixers of all brands, then there were two system one, various controllers, Alphateta, Numark, Herkules, Rane mixers, then two XDJ AZs, FLX4, FLX 10, SC Live 4, Prime Go Plus, then about ten SC 6000s combined with various mixers. The consoles where there was the most queue to be tried were the XDJ AZs and the FLX10s, the ones with the most interest, but there wasn’t even a Prime 4 Plus! Many people were interested in the turntables. What I mean is that the person I spoke to pointed out to me that there was no Prime 4 Plus, this for the reason I was talking about in the post.
The bugs in the current EngineOS version 4.3.4 have remained unresolved for months. The Prime P4+ has only been on the market since July 2023; that’s when we first had it in stock.
I’d rather not say anything about the RS1.
Too bad…
A few RS1s were sold, but almost all of them were returned.
I can certainly understand the RS1 buyers – they’re really fed up by now.
This all sounds familiar.
The P4+ was also advertised differently; there was even an alpha or beta version with the infamous STEMS to show.
And then…
That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
The bug with tracks not loading from the prep list is still unresolved and was there on the Prime Go+ previously. I’ve been dealing with support on this and although unresolved they’ve closed my ticket.
I also noticed a couple of really bugging things on my last gig but can’t be sure if they were introduced with 4.6 or not. Will do some testing tomorrow and report back.
From my experience so far it’s looking like I’ll be using it with VDJ most of the time and do the odd standalone gig but it’s hard work.
Too late for a return now, perhaps I should have known better. I thought the system one with 4.5 was a turning point however none of that has been rolled out to other units even after a couple of months and the OS is still unintuitive and buggy.
There is talk about Engine OS 5.0 but that could be months or years away. Everything just takes forever with In-Music and eventually people just run out of patience.
I use the P4 almost exclusively with VDJ.
(approx. 70%)
If I were also dependent on InMusic or Microsoft in this regard, I would currently only have one option…
Thanks to the small Atomix team, however, the MIDI 2.0 problem was also quickly solved with a workaround.
By the way…
Starting to get the feeling the marketing for the Rane System One with the unit doing onboard stems is now a “snakeoil type thing” I have people that are asking me questions since I own several Denon DJ products that do stems via paying for the stem integration. Glad I have not yet purchased the unit as of yet, I have said before it is basically the Denon DJ Prime 2 with motorized platters and the marketing of the unit is under some wide spread scrutiny. $2700 after taxes for the Rane System One then the whole thing of not being able to read stems pre analyzed on other units and they must be analyzed directly under the Rane System One 5.whatever update. Come on we are heading into the summer season for us dj’s, school proms, wedding’s, outside bbq’s. If you cannot provide a service why advertise it ? All in All where are the on board stem separation without using a laptop or computer to analyze stems, really tired of hearing it works with other dj software platforms. Kind of almost like Roland Corp and how they give you a product then leave you hanging out in the cold for future updates. Come on InMusic don’t let us down.
Agreed. Both on board stems and additional software (VDJ, Djay Pro) support quote “early” 2026 and here we are nearly in May. The controller was released and on sale the last week of January.
Expect the usual “we’re a small team blah blah” response.
Clearly In-Music have a lack of communication between marketing and the people actually delivering the products.
Not to forget the bugs, which apparently or partially still date back to version 4.3.4.
We have now stopped selling InMusic devices,
a decision also influenced by the assessment of our wholesaler, whose sales representative visits us regularly.
The fact that there won’t be any real-time or live stems is understandable, as the hardware obviously doesn’t support them.
But at least the preparation should be possible on the RS1 and perhaps also the P4. No matter how long it takes.
Then everyone can decide for themselves whether to do it on the device or externally with more powerful hardware.
One of the reasons I bought the RS1 was to save on the storage space stems take up, so I could create stems on the unit for certain tracks as required.
If this doesn’t happen soon I will be contacting In-Music for a refund. It’s just the same old promises promises all the time.
From my perspective, you’re actually quite patient.
My customers, for example, aren’t.
That’s also the reason why management has currently imposed a “stop” on certain products.
Even I, as a tech enthusiast and advocate for Denon, and especially the RS1, am currently lacking arguments.
I also bought the P4+ because I thought,
(yes, I bought and paid for it as a regular customer because I wanted it to be mine and not the company’s)
even if it can’t do that Feature now, but it’s coming.
That’s how it was described!
There was also a Firmware version that was shown.
And then?
That one also cost €2,249 11/2025.
