One more point I’d like to add to my previous post: Many people are used to Pioneer/AT’s completely outrageous prices, even though their products are generally even more outdated and less powerful than ours. And that doesn’t stop them from selling like hotcakes. Just look at the number of people buying CDJ 3000/x/A9 setups for $8,000 or AZs for $3,500 just to mix at home to realize that for many passionate DJs, price isn’t an issue.

What people want is value for their money, and as long as the added value is there and they think the price is justified by the technology, it will sell.

If tomorrow Denon were to offer an SC7000 with a high-performance chip capable of true real-time stems without pre-rendering, even at $2000-$2200 per player, it would sell. People would immediately compare it to the CDJ 3000x and think, “Why should I pay more for a less capable CDJ 3000x?”

The SC players were already more powerful and offered more features, but I’m convinced that a high-performance chip enabling real-time stems without pre-rendering would have been the “killer feature” that could have revolutionized the industry, especially right after the release of the 3000x, which had only just begun its lifecycle. The timing was perfect, and it was a fantastic missed opportunity.

The question is whether STEMS on board truly delivers this added value. Although I’m a big fan myself, I don’t believe it’s the decisive factor.

Unless, of course, you have some influencer who treats the player like an organ and pounds away at it as if it were five years old and had been suffering from constipation for weeks.

But will such an influencer actually boost sales figures? I have my doubts… It’s more likely that you need such “artists” to maintain your status.

You’re a consumer. Until you’ve done industrial Dev work with the board you’re just a speculating consumer with a wishlist, just like others who chime in about the Rockchip capabilities.

Being a ‘consumer’ doesn’t mean I can’t read a spec sheet. 2014 hardware in a 2026 market , that is the reality! 11,000 views prove that the community is tired of excuses for outdated chips and wants new hardware from Denon in 2026. That is the topic. That is what so many consumers are waiting for. That’s all from me.

There is a big valley between reading and understanding. As we already concluded, we have latest possible hardware based on the possibility of market implementation. Pioneer is still having arduino powered cdj’s 2000’s on the market and no one complained… Please stop that nonsense nagging.

You’re either naturally or deliberately ignoring members of the forum who are talking more sense than you and you’re blindly waving a news headline, with no substance in the story. You’re also being equally ignorant of the posts where members are suggesting that you’ve said enough on this topic.

I’ll give you some insight on audio hardware R&D.

Pssst. It’s not the MoBo processor, it’s the DSP the processor it controls. And usually the MoBo DSP doesn’t do all the audio processing.

Read all the spec sheets you want because it doesn’t account for the end product’s total design and what was done in coding. You’re speculating on like a fifth of a total design, wait till I tell you what you can do with PI Zero W, a Dente dev board and a 2017 Ti TMS dev kit.

you are fighting a useless battle against certain people who always want to be right unfortunately, do as I do and leave them alone otherwise they will start reporting you all in a group just to make you change your mind, and it’s the only way they have to silence the others!

It’s not about being right, it’s about being realistic… some people have unrealistic expectations and demands here…

I’m not sure if the DSP is even a thing anymore on newer devices like the RS1. It’s already gone on hardware based on the RK3288 platform. It was initially when the DSP handled all the audio FX, but since audio FX are now managed software-wise in EngineOS, the DSP isn’t very useful anymore. Maybe it still handles the filters and some of the audio routing, but even then I’m not certain.

InMusic clearly has no intention of abandoning the Rockchip platform for several reasons, including:

  • Low component cost, therefore better profitability

  • Fairly open architecture and easier to program than Qualcom and MediaTek

  • Backward compatibility with the older RK3288, which makes it easier to manage the development of features shared between the new and old platforms.

  • Easy porting of code written for the RK3288 to the RK3588 or other CPUs in the Rockchip family, whereas changing chip manufacturers would likely require more work recoding a significant portion of EngineOS and would not simplify the management of both the old and new platforms.

And since, at the start of the RS1’s development, Rockchip’s top-of-the-line and most powerful chip was the RK3588, they used that one because the RK3688 wasn’t officially available yet.

But perhaps the RK3588 is just a transitional chip for the RS1, and future Denon/Numark products will use the RK3688. At least, that’s what we can hope for.

Could the RK3688 render stems at least with 20x speed? Anything less is practically unusable for live operation.

I don’t understand why there’s constant discussion about a CPU that isn’t installed. The whole discussion about the CPU is pure speculation and nothing more.

ONLY the developers can truly assess the situation, and they certainly won’t comment on it here.

Live rendering is only important for the tracks you’ve failed to prepare in EngineDJ.

I havent been able to use the Rane One system (yet). Is stems supported for ‘cloud’ provided songs using the onboard analysis? Then fast stem analysis would make a difference as each selected song is ‘new’?

I know how to handle it. I just render everything beforehand, that’s it. I even do it in VDJ, although it could enable just-in-time rendering.

Stability is more important to me!

I just can’t understand this insistence on the CPU. It’s not even installed, and the latest models obviously can’t handle what we’re talking about right now. STEMS like those provided by VDJ or DjayPro. Just in time.

It would also be great if I could tell Engine OS whether to boot into computer mode or EngineOS first. etc… The wish list is long…

No. It was supposed to be “early” 2026 but still nothing. Don’t even know if they will allow stems on streaming platforms.

I think that’ll be down to the platform i.e. yes with Tidal, no with Apple Music.

As I said elsewhere, the delay is likely down to the MIDI 2.0 business (although Algoriddim are after a firmware update before djay Pro is supported).

At the club where I work, we use the following setup with Virtual DJ on a well-ventilated desktop PC:

  • Asus B450 TUF Gaming Plus II motherboard
  • 32 GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz Kingston Fury RAM
  • Ryzen 7 5800X CPU @ 4.4 GHz
  • 2 TB Intel NVMe SSD
  • MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X 8GB graphics card

The GTX 1080 is one of my old graphics cards that I gave to the club owner to replace his old GTX 1050 2GB.

The GTX 1080 achieves between 16x and 18x speed for real-time stem separation in Virtual DJ, while simultaneously handling the streaming of 3D video shaders (like ShaderToys) at 60 fps, which can sometimes be quite demanding in extended desktop mode, to an HDMI splitter across eight screens in the club at 1080p, plus the display of the Virtual DJ skin on the DJ booth screen at a constant 60 fps.

It’s a perfect card for this type of task, and we never experience any slowdowns. Stem separation is completely seamless and takes less than 10 seconds once a track is loaded onto a deck. You barely have time to set your main cue point before the separation is already complete and loaded into RAM. It can handle real-time stem separation on four decks simultaneously without a hitch, and yet it’s far from being a cutting-edge GPU. It has exactly the necessary power and RAM.

You might say that anything below 10x speed, and I’d agree, but anything above 10x is usable, and above 15x you’re in for a truly comfortable and seamless experience.

Still no support for VDJ and Djay Pro for RS1 …

I hink it’s more a business reason, I guess Serato has locked the excluvity for at least 3 or 6 months so there will be no support until June or September !

This old business model has to stop now, Serato is loosing market share and technical features what’s why they are openning support for more hardwares and competitors (Traktor z2…etc)

Hardware companies have to offer the maximum software flexibility asap without any excluvity and dedicatedbranding on the unit.

The Rane System One is a standalone device, therefore IMO it really shouldn’t matter that it doesn’t (currently) work with djay Pro or VirtualDJ. People should be buying it to use as a standalone device. :man_facepalming:

I don’t think Serato has “locked” anything. Algoriddim have already said that they’re waiting for a firmware update to fully support it. As they had djay Pro on demo at NAMM in January with the System One, who knows what was missing - but that’s what they said.

Atomix asked for beta testers a few weeks ago, so that’s presumably going ahead behind closed doors….
