With respect you don’t even know if any of the features in Engine 4.5 will trickle down, do you? It’s a universal OS across all brands, surely you know that?
I agree with the fact there is no SC7000 or Prime 4 premium whatever, but Namm isn’t the be all and end all, and Denon have never gone there anyway.
Just because Rane have been “forced” to release a new controller at Namm doesn’t mesn Denon is dead and we’re all stuck on the current firmware. Yes it’s disappointing and shows In-Music have to learn a lot about marketing and product releases but at least give it a few days to see what floats to the top.
I’m also disappointed that the priority for the Engine DJ update is on the System One. From what I’ve seen in the videos, the update for the System One doesn’t seem to be fully developed.
I can’t understand why their own devices don’t receive updates at the same time to keep existing customers happy.
I don’t use Stems, but I can understand the users’ wishes here.
For me, the RGB waveform would complete my Prime Go setup.
Otherwise, I still happily use my old and robust Scratch Live setup.
Well I’m not going to order the System one if the required software stops my Prime Go+ working. Surely they could have handled this better and pushed 4.5 to existing devices at the same time.
Still belt-driven, still Herkules, no info about the inclusion of Pitch n’ Time (a very critical aspect since it affects both Key Shift/Sync and improved Keylock, yet can’t be bough separately anymore), and coming at $1000-1500, which makes it into a questionable deal, unless you really want/need those 10” platters. In every other aspect, a Rane One is superior.
What are Denon or INMusic doing with their own products?
NOTHING!
Rane and Engine DJ are part of inMusic, so obviously, they did something. And probably even more in the background, that we are just not aware about.
Some people ask for early announcements, some of fewer early leaks. You can’t have both. Can we all relax a bit more and wait until the dust around NAMM has settled?
Engine is the platform for all DJ related products made by InMusic. Rane has now been added, like Numark has been before.
The Rane System One needed some extra tlc the past years, as devs needed to create a portrait interface instead of the “normal” landscape oriented Engine.
More updates will come to all Engine devices. More hardware will come as well. No ETA.
My point being. Who confirmed here that features were excluded?
Is that how reasoning works nowadays?
Some need to go back to school, I guess, and try writing an essay again. How about this reasoning: if it can be done on that Engine unit, could it be done on ours as well???
I can absolutely understand the justified excitement and attention surrounding the new toy. It’s really well done… But trade shows are also subject to the expectation of new products being unveiled. If there’s only silence on certain topics… Sorry… this isn’t a criticism of all those fighting on the front lines… but the marketing department, which is involved in the decision-making process, has to take the criticism here.
I’m quite amazed how fast new things are taken for granted. RANE joining the platform is huge news. Everything is pointing towards more to be unvealed. So far, the System One seems the most interesting thing at NAMM - although it is not a product for me.
Updates will come to existing gear, which has been confirmed. The media coverage for system one is good. This latest update about djay pro adds to unveiling drip by drip - which is good to keep the attention on the product(s). In my opinion Inmusic is doing a fantastic job at this moment.
Of course, we would all have loved to see Denon DJ present the perfect all-rounder at NAMM, particularly in the form of a mixer and media players as successors to the X1850 & SC6000M. The fact that this didn’t happen isn’t the end of the world, nor the end of DenonDJ.
Maybe they’re busy behind the scenes, working on implementing most of these features on their existing hardware. They have frequently accomplished feats that seemed beyond imagination, defying expectations. Who knows?
After all, my setup is still working well for me, and I have no reason to change it anyway.
Considering the numerous features that Denon DJ has provided free of charge through Engine OS firmware updates from the early versions to the present, one can only applaud and tribute:
