Has anyone tried Engine DJ software on the Sonoma Beta. Has Denon made any announcement regarding support (if so I haven’t been able to find it). I’m not planning on upgrading anytime soon but I would still like to know what’s working and what isn’t.
Nothing has been stated at all so id assume Ventura is the latest supported OS until told otherwise.
They never do until the OS is public. Then they say what works and what is broken.
macOS
- Version: macOS 11, 12, 13
- Processor: i5 2.0Ghz or faster, Apple M1
- Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
- Video Card: Intel HD Graphics or better
- Sound Interface: Internal sound card or Core Audio compatible interface
- Free space: 150 Mb available for application
Don’t go near beta software if you are DJ’ing professionally.
If DJ’ing is a hobby, then it is up to you, but until Denon announce compatibility with Sonoma then it is your risk.
Frankly I wouldn’t recommend going near it until Sonoma.1 at the very earliest.
Apple have a habit of making little tweaks to things in the background that can have profound effects for other software which are not noticed until the OS hits the general public.
Thank you for the warnings, but I’m not looking for warnings. Rather I’m looking for someone who has actually installed the Sonoma Beta to say whether or not Engine DJ works. Again, I am fully aware that it’s not officially supported (and not advisable) but often times applications will work in spite of not being officially supported. Then again, I’ve been having a buggy time on Ventura so I suppose it’s unlikely to be any better on the next version. Regardless Sonoma comes out on Tuesday so I assume Denon will have an announcement shortly about compatibility.
Try it yourself… ill stick to Ventura for the time being, as advised by the software vendors whom manage the software i use.
I understand the overwhelming desire to tell me I’m wrong for being interested in this but once again, you’re not helping to answer the original question. I’m hoping someone else is willing to be a guinea pig. I’ll probably hold off on Sonoma for a bit but am still curious to know what the UNOFFICIAL word is on compatibility. To anyone reading this WHO HAS INSTALLED SONOMA AND TRIED USING ENGINE DJ, I would appreciate it if you could take time to answer. I would be much more willing to upgrade myself if Apple didn’t make it such a pain in the ass to downgrade if something goes wrong. If Engine DJ UNOFFICIALLY works I am more likely to upgrade sooner.
Nobody is telling you you’re wrong, you’re just asking people to comment on something the company have advised them not to do. Do you not think that your 64 day old post would have been answered by now if anybody had actually done it?
Anyway, you do you, and keep asking.
To provide some further info on this subject. This arrived in my mail at 14.49 UK time.

Someone WILL do this eventually and I’m hoping they see this post so they can make a comment as to what their experience is. I figure the likelihood of this happening is much greater after Sonoma releases on Tuesday, hence why I’m bringing this up again on a 64 day old post. I’m hoping someone on Tuesday sees this and responds.
I took the leap and installed Sonoma. Together with 3.2.0 on both my MacBook and Prime 4 I could open Engine DJ, Connect the Prime 4 and synchronize the internal hard drive on the device.
If you guys want me to test anything else (Thumbdrives, Serato etc.) just let me know.
Oh that’s good then, I see that a few hours ago someone has taken the plunge and advised their findings on their system. Hopefully their system, workflow etc won’t be too different from yours and their “It works” will be something that you can echo yourself too. Fingers crossed - best of luck
There was once a time that Apple released an beta update where all the DJ software worked as intended.
With the official release Apple had changed something which cause a major issue for DJ software. All companies were scrabbling to make their software compatible again, despite it working without issues in all the beta updates released up till the final product.
This is the reason why it makes no sense to determine if something works on beta, that it will work on the final release. Because WE the public don’t know what Apple might do until they actually release the official version.
THANK YOU! Finally someone with reading comprehension!
The official vesion has already released. Not sure what you’re trying to prove here.
Right, as I have no new music to add to my device im going to give this go and see how it works.

O brave one. Let me know if it works with Serato
I’ll test either this afternoon or tomorrow
Engine looking fine so far.
I installed Sonoma and Engine DJ has been able to sync both directions without issue. Preliminarily it looks like all is well.
