James Hype seems to think he's invented something new

James Hype has just “invented” tying visuals to your DJ kit.

It’s Sacha Baron Cohen for real this time!

I honestly don’t know what people see in this guy. The hubris.

ADHD gamer kids love bashing buttons, they grow too old for Fortnite and discover physical attraction to other humans. They then realise pretend shooting people on a tv screen, followed by silly dancing isn’t going to get them laid, so they take up a new hobby to remedy that. Enter James Hype and his mangled cue buttons.

I mean i’m an ADHD gamer kid and i still don’t get what people see in that guy .

What’s funny is seeing reports on reddit (and here too) where people complain about their Cue buttons not working. Don’t beat the crap out of it and it should last a long while!

Haha I guess I am too, although was always more of a Tiger Woods PGA tour guy than a Tekken guy, slow and steady wins the race

This whole hyperactive style of DJing has never appealed. Always preferred the guys who just mix tracks without all the other nonsense thrown in.

Its amazing. Very good job.

Poor Nanoleaf and SoundSwitch, having ideas years ago that were actually stealing from James Hype in the future. Shame on them…

He’s good at what he does, but I don’t especially like what he does, and he certainly thinks he’s more innovative than he actually is.

He’s also the figurehead for the move towards “tricks” rather than selection - so many DJs starting out seem to be working from the tricks backwards, rather than the tunes forward if you see what I mean. I’m 100% a basic bitch DJ - mayyyybbbeee drop in one double in a set (and this is DnB so it’s almost expected) but I get people moving :man_shrugging:

His fans will go nuts for it though.

As a casual DnB fan of many years (Seen Craze, Hype, Andy C, Fabio, Shy FX etc years ago at festivals) this concept of double dropping seems to be one of the biggest negatives about the modern DnB scene. Are people literally doing full sets of just double drops now? as the general language i see online when referring to DnB seems to be some kind of obsession with it.

i think ill stick to my Man from Del Monte liquid DnB fix on Youtube.

6 years ago we already had it…

I see he’s now reacted to all the comments, saying they’re misunderstanding because he’s doing it live…

Noooooooooooooooooooooo. He invented it. He said so.

Well, I don’t care what he says, I am integrating visuals in to djing and live act events since 2016. Denon made it seamless with dj consoles in 2019. James is not so hyped as he claims…

The sarcasm went over your head. :frowning: Sorry about that.

I’ll use /s moving forward just in case someone else doesn’t realize when my dry sarcasm is present.

I know it was a sarcasm… I was just straight forward about it… It’s funny, though, James is running out of his hype

James Hype seems to think he’s the centre of the universe

This is not new there have been various controllers that do versions of this. I think he is getting a bit full of himself. However what he does with four decks, samples and loops is very good he has to be one of the best, but for me 10 minutes of this style and then where do you go from there, I would not want to listen to this type of DJing any longer I want good music to dance to not worship the DJ behind the decks, that’s their job.

Overall, JHype appears to be no longer a 100% DJ.

Instead he seems to be 25% DJ, 75% mindless show-off
