Hi, where would be a valid place to suggest new hardware? the existing feature request section only seems to cater for software. Do Denon even accept suggestions for new hardware?
Being a tech and Photoshop geek, I would create a Prime 4 Mk2 mockup immediately grins
More for the fun than being 101% serious, of course. But it’s cool to brainstorm and share ideas!
Probably best to run the idea in the “general section” first, to “test the water” with other owners/users.
If the idea is within reason, denon have probably already thought of it, or got it on their radar. If the idea is outside of reason, then the other owners/users will probably be a guiding influence
What kind of hardware were you thinking of!
Let’s hijack the thread a bit ![]()
I was thinking about a Prime4 mk2 personally. Higher resolution screen with less bezels (more real estate at the same size), potentially larger horizontal screen that does not stick out as much). USB Type C and Type A with PD (Edit: PD - Power Delivery) up to 100W (this will power pretty much anything from a Macbook with 30W to a chonky ASUS Zephyrus that can take up to 100W via TypeC) - that will charge the laptop over the same cable that is used for data (controller setup etc.). Stagelink track information output via WiFi/USB (currently it only works via the Ethernet port) - this is a huge step for livestreamers who want to display the current track. Jogwheel displays that can have multiple modes: Time left BPM Logo Cover art Needle position Vinyl mode on/off Key All of that could be mixed or displayed separately, this might be a lot - but I do not like the small font on my NS6II which had most of that information squeezed into the jog display). Essentially give us control what we want to display there (or even turn those off if people want it).
LED ring around the Filter/SweepFX knob, ideally with color coordinated FX (white for filter, green for wash and whatnot - with matching colors on the FX knobs).
FX section - LED display below the knobs, not above - easier to see - would be cool to just improve the ergonomics and visibility a bit).
48V Phantom power (optional, maybe only 1 input out of 2, can be hidden in the menu instead of a physical knob and turned off on restart to avoid sending power to a dynamic mic by accident) for condenser microphones, considering how powerful livestreaming is and how many of those microphones are out there (and they do sound better, for a DJ who mixes only in headphones - would be cool).
XLR and RCA for booth out (again this is from someone who streams live - most audio interfaces accept unbalanced and in smaller venues where booth connection only exists as unbalanced - could be nice).
Booth and Zone VU meter to see the outgoing volume (nice2have).
Adjustable feet or a bit more clearance off the table so a laptop stand can slide under it (nice2have).
Maybe merge some controls like Booth and Zone EQ to one set of knobs with Shift (normal mode - booth control, hold Shift for Zone control, but those would need to be digital).
USB Type-C input. There are a ton of USB sticks/external SSD that use Type-C either exclusively or in combination with USB-A. Having a Type-C input on top would be amazing.
A higher resolution screen!
It is already very responsive and more than enough (AkaĂŻ MPC screen)
I will be for a hardness adjustment of the jogwheels (I know it copies another brand)
Two versions available with or without turntable.
Quick access buttons to manage the vocal or instrumental isolation of the Stems either for the all-in-one mode thanks to a processor 2 or 4 times more powerful than the one currently embedded in our players or by using them with software third.
And why not a capacitive touch filter equalizer, like on the NS7II and III, to cut the frequencies.
I think the OP wanted to request new hardware.
The Denon line up could use a 2+1ch mixer. Something like the x600.
A 4 channel, class compliant sound card is my hardware suggestion.
Somebody gave them the daft idea of creating those SC live machines so I figured anything goes ![]()
Like an SL4?
Is the juice worth the squeeze? DVS sound cards is a niche thing.
I’m not sure if there is a huge appetite for such.
Thing is, Rotary/Boutique mixers are having a renaissance and not everyone wants to play pure analogue. Couple that with most people not having space or the desire to wax money on media players on top of their turntables, a DVS sound card is the perfect solution.
You also have things like the Xone 96 the are very popular but not able to be used with software from a laptop.
How much DJ get outside of £200 controllers isnt niche? I cant imagine the market for DJM-S11’s and V10’s is massive.
I think all hardware dedicated just for software is now in Numark’s and Rane’s domain. Seems like the Denon brand has gone strictly the standalone first route now.
There is still a need for dj break out boxes though. I’m eyeing a used Traktor audio 6 to use with my iPhone. Right now I sometimes use my Amx as a sound card for external mixing with my tts.
Fully agree, even if we have to pay a premium, at least one company should be offering a sound card box for each software vendor.
Is a better audio quality/specs is too much too ask for the next Prime series ? I would love to have some 100% transparent digital player CDJ 3000 is higher for audio fidelity
And USB C whennnnnn ??
I thought boutique rotary guys only play from vinyl or usb sticks. They don’t seem like the type to want a laptop/software adding extra layer of processing into their sound.
My other assumption, Xone96 users are mostly techno heads and swear by the original CDJ2000s, they don’t need hotcues, just play and pause, they burn one track per CD
and only download from Beatport

As a user and owner of Xone 96 - I can tell You - You are wrong with this assumption…
So I developed a little hack for my SL3 to get around that exact issue. Some splitters so I can completely bypass the card and retain an analogue signal path:)

The main point for me is I really love mixing with vinyl over any other method, the actual feel of it and the 1210 pitch faders that are by far the best in the business. Coupled with a DDJ-SP1 I have fully functioning media players that have the added benefit of playing real vinyl when I want.
I understand this is a niche, but that’s no excuse for someone not to offer a solution for us.
I know that I am wrong lol.
I only know 3 guys that own the 96 personally. And they are techno heads through and through. Hence my anecdotal observation.
What’s your preferred way of playing through the Xone if you don’t mind me asking?
What sorta music do you think allows the Xone to shine?
I wouldn’t say it has to with music but people who go the Xone route are usually those want to plug in external gear.
I’m not speaking for NoiseRiser though but that’s what I usually see.
Well, I bought the Xone 96 mostly for the sound quality, and amount of in/outs.
I have couple of fx units that I like to use at different occasions. I play mostly 2 completely different genres that have also very different styles of djing.
Xone 96 gives me a lot of flexibility in terms of gear that I can use. So it is running as a centrepiece of my setup with SC6000’s, Akai Force, Boss rc505 mk2, RMX1000, Arturia Microfreak, couple of fx pedals (Zoom and Behringer), and a macbook m1 max with Traktor and Ableton.
I like to experiment with loops and samples cut out on the fly, so this setup gives me some creative options whenever I have an idea, I just do it.
I like using hot cues and scratching - so not Your typical play and cue + pitch fader player here ![]()
