The Filterheadz remix was the sound of that era from the likes of the big prog DJs. I remember hearing that the first time Sasha dropped it at Gatecrasher in Sheffield. It was also the first time he ever played for them too. Ahhhh the memories!

Sooooo, I have a bit of a story about that:)
Me and my mate were in there the night it got raided and closed down, was bizarre. When you saw the mixmag article they had closed off a square mile of the city around the club, and used 150 police in riot gear.
Anyway, the massive irony was ‘struggle for pleasure’ was getting played about 20 mins before it kicked off. The upstairs was closed that night and the Police appeared from there so the club clearly knew and I have to wonder if Matt Hardwick played it on purpose.
Ive also got a signed copy of it that was Sander Kleinenberg’s… Denney (used to be a regular in the shack) had got into the DJ booth and managed to snap it up, I bought it from him for a tenner at an after party. I’ll dig it out and take a pic.

Awesome story, I remember that article actually and didn’t they got raided a couple of times?. I think the night you’re mentioning is the week before I went to cream to also see Sasha. Yes, as you can tell I’m a bit if a fan boy, off to see him next weekend in Manchester too haha! Gatecrasher used to be my second home, I really miss the Republic as it was the best super club.
Matt hardwick used to be the best warmup dj, loved him in the other room upstairs.
Ha! Denney used to or still plays for basics in Leeds right? Leeds is my home turf so ventured to a lot of Basics and Union nights back in the day, they held Global Underground nights pretty much every week on a Friday.

Yeah I liked it in there. Hardwick was class as a warm up, often better than the headliner. I remember one night they put a night on to go against Gods Kitchen at Leeds town hall and they had Ash Casselle, Hardwick, Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul, Jules and Tiesto on and it was only 12 quid to get in 
, can’t imagine seeing Tiesto alone for anything less than 100 now haha.
Denney has gone big time, plays for Elrow and Steve Lawlers night in Ibiza etc. It was the back room of Sundissential where I saw him back in the day, we never got down to Leeds as much as I wanted to.
This is currently one of my favourites. Nice selection
