Z2 with Traktor? How did you map the lcs in Traktor? Do they provide lighting feedback? Just asking for my interest, I don’t have Traktor or a plan buying it.
The trouble is Frederico, most of us on this side talk about the other brand through experience, we will all have used them at some point, and in most cases owned their gear. Outside of some obvious trolling, most of our negativity is based on our own experiences of it breaking/failing/being too expensive for what you get etc.
Those on that side often form opinions about this brand (and others) without experience, they quickly trash it because they’ve heard some Youtuber or read some comments about it. This is where the issues arise, they have a snobbery abour non-pioneer equipment and they think it somehow gives them superiority because they bought some piece of tech.
If you want to see just how shallow the general user base of Pioneer products are, check out the mass hysteria being caused by the brand name change. These people will never openly admit it, but they see that brand as a statement piece, like wearing an Armani sweater with the word ‘ARMANI’ plastered across the front of it, they would never buy a plain Armani sweater because then its not achieving the goal they want it to.
Actually I use the Z2 and the LC6000 with Virtual DJ because everything is mapped and supported natively in VDJ including the jogwheel screens.
However, there is a mapping for the LC6000 on traktor that I was able to test, it works for beatmatching but the responsiveness is not really great for scratching and the jogwheel screens are not supported. That’s why I prefer to use it with VDJ in which the support for the Z2 + LC6000 combo is excellent in every way.
That’s a great summary of the situation Stu
Pioneer products aren’t bad per se, but they clearly don’t justify the price they’re sold for, the materials aren’t really premium, lots of plastic, little metal at least on the controllers and standalone units.
Old technologies recycled over and over again, no real research and development but probably a lot of reverse engineering of Denon products, no real innovation since 2015. They just follow the trends by selling plastic at the price of gold.
You simply pay an additional €1000 Pioneer tax per piece of equipment because it’s the club standard and because the end consumer has to reimburse all the free riders offered to big clubs and festivals.
And as Stu says, there’s a kind of snobbery and social pressure that means that if you go off the Pioneer standard you’re looked at strangely.
A bit of the same snobbery that reigns among serato users when they see that you use VDJ or traktor.
But Denon still meets more and more success of esteem. The only advantage of Pioneer at this stage and the ease of finding replacement parts.
I agree with you, that’s exactly what happened to me, I come from Pioneer, I’ve been working as a DJ for 24 years and for the first time I’m at Denon, I’ve always been very reluctant to change brands, but I’ll be fair, I’ve NEVER had a single problem with any Pioneer equipment, so I felt safe, my migration to Denon happened because I was determined to invest in an all-in-one equipment and get rid of the computer, when I discovered the Prime 4 with internal storage, solid construction, on-board lighting control, wifi, streaming services, 4 active channels, 4 wavebands always on display, two microphone channels, fxs, color effects, I realized that it was far superior to any Pioneer all-in-one equipment (at the time the most complete was the xz).
Guys… could it be that we are running out of ideas? Could it be that real development has stagnated? It’s a mystery, I think. I hope Denon drops a tremendous bomb where we are all amazed and proud to have DENON!!!
Are you not proud to own it already?
What makes you think development has stagnated?
Of course, I am proud to have my PRIME 4, I was referring more to what ALPHA THETA wants to do with its clients hahaha. With super inflated prices. And obviously DENON is several steps ahead in development, with respect to what Alpha Theta is. And I am more than sure that Denon is going to launch something extraordinary.
This thread is quite popular
launch something new in terms of software or new hardware? I believe that today there is a lot of technological improvement in general, perhaps the margin for improvement is very minimal and we have reached our ceiling.
That AZ-thing is kinda like seeing all the iPhone users talking bout the latest iPhone.
Hey, I like iPhones!
So much so I’m still using my 11 pro …. People who update them every year are certified mentalists.
I use Android privately and iPhone on work (and if I want to, I can use it after hours as well) - as soon as working-hours are done, it ends up in my jacket until next day.
I was the opposite, I had a Sony for work.
Everyone kept messaging me on my personal WhatsApp with system issues so I ditched the work phone and transferred my personal number to my work account. Now I have a free contract and my company even pay my data roaming charges in the EU too
But yeah I get the link between the iPhone fanatics and people raving about Alpha gear.
It could be, friend, that this is happening. I think the majority of what is waiting for independent devices are the Stems, I’m talking about Denon and ALpha and the occasional upgrade.
For me my prime 4+ is still the king, the new pioneer is much to expensive. the build in harddrive slot, 2 micros, zone with tone control…
prime 4 + is the beast a powerfull standalone dj controller ,i love mine so much ,big respect inmusic ,denon team
Hello, my dears, So I’ve been using my P4 for over 5 years and rarely write here but I have to get this out of the way…since I got it I’ve never, really never had a crash or anything with it…all the updates Worked without any problems so far…so this is the best part there is on the market… nice day to you…
I’m pretty sure AT won’t do this.
They will just release an “upgrade” with a view minor extra features and charge 500€ more.
