There is a wireless connection to the laptop where you can play music from the Engine desktop software. I don’t personally use it but perhaps it’s an option worth exploring.
Mod can move this post to a already existing discussion about this: Export Link Feature
Thanks for your comment Stu. At home, using the same network, I imagine it works great. But playing outside or at corporate event with thousands of people I find it hard to believe I can trust the wireless connection to be stable enough…
Yeah that’s a fair point, I’ve not tested it yet but can they do a direct connection? Essentially make the laptop a hot spot?
Then use a ethernet connection.
Yes, if the event is big enough there will be an extra 4G/5G tower, but still it can clog up the connection pretty quick if everyone is live streaming the main act (which they typically do these days LOL).
However, if the event is that big, you can usually request an internet connection by cable on a separate subnet, like the ones they use for registers and such.
If you only want the connection between your laptop and Prime to function properly then wired is probably the best way to go. If you want to add mobile data, getting a small 4G/5G pocket router can come in handy. You would be the only two devices on that wifi network and the closest to the router, so connection should be strong and stable enough. However no guarantees about the internet side of things, see above comments about live streamin main acts LOL.
I would never use the in-house wifi feed, unless there is a subnet that is separate from the guest network and has the right QoS (Quality of Service) settings to give your traffice priority over just about anything else on the network.
My 3 cents as usual.
