Entire collection gone

What the F*** the entire collection is gone… The files are there, ofcourse… but the database is empty. what a shitty software this is… unreliable, counter intuitive pfffff

Sorry that this happened and I get that you’re frustrated. I’m sure it felt good to post this out of a fit of rage.

Once you’ve calmed down – if you want help, please be more descriptive of your situation and some of us will chip in to assist.

Restore from backup

Try that… that one is empty to

Database on USB (in combination with 4.0.1. is fine) on laptop it is empty… How can I recreate the database on the laptop from the usb… I would say sync back from USB…

Why aren’t the files leading… so depended on the database… man oh man. within 4.0.1 the sync manager sees information to be imported… but running 4.1.0 there is nothing to sync to the database

image Why is there no simple import button…

Collection on usb drive is from 4.0.1. can’t by synced to 4.1.0??

Do you still have the old main DB?

You could try an experiment by trying to upload it to Lexicon DJ to see if it can read it.

I consider the laptop as main database… that one AND back up are only few megabytes. On my USB m.db is 730 Mb. I have on the USB stick engine DJ as well v4.0.1. On the laptop it is 4.1.0

That’s strange the main/laptop db should be larger in size to the one on the USB stick you export to.

What’s your file management approach?

Where is the music stored on your laptop?

Yes on the laptop the enitre collection is not shown in other words empty

Do you store music files on the laptop before adding to the program ?

All files are on the usb drive… ofcourse I have a backup, but not on the HD of the laptop

Could you describe your process of adding music

From downloading files - performance

The recommended way

  1. Download tracks from Internet
  2. Add them to engine dj software collection.
  3. Then use Engine DJ sync manager to export them to a USB/SSD/Sdcard

If you choose to do things differently then things can go wrong

You must have the same versions on your hardware and your computer. Install version 4.1 also on your hardware (which you did not say what it is), then see if your USB drive is read and converted by your hardware (console or media player). At that point you will have a database version 4.1 that can be read by Engine DJ Desktop (on the computer) that you have in version 4.1.

That sounded hopefull. Did this on my decks under 4.1 but without result.

Tried to do some housekeeping Martin.

Je kunt gewoon een post bewerken om aan te vullen ipv 7 antwoorden. :+1:t2:

  1. get tracks
  2. copy to usb
  3. add to collection in EDJ
  4. Done

D’r zit zo weinig bewegingsvrijheid in de software. Blijkt wel dat het niet echt rugged is. Hardware is top, but software is knudde. Ik ga mijn hele collectie op nieuw opbouwen, met de vrees veel meta data kwijt te zijn… en dat is het aller ergste… Uren en uren in zitten… dat ze dat niet snappen

I’ve chosen to have my collection and tracks on the device and go from there. Pulling backups from there as well. Doesn’t help you at the moment, but still.
