Entire collection gone

Okay that’s good information

It is a different way of working but I know other people who prefer that method @Reese is one.

The problem with this approach is that Engine DJ does not make back up of databases that are not in the internal laptop drive. The back up folder you see on your computer only contains information for files on the computer internal storage.

To summarize you don’t have a back up if you did not make one.

And to reiterate, you need to know what you are doing if you choose to manage your library in any other way than the steps I mentioned in my earlier post. It’s the same way to manage a library in rekordbox.

Yes I just started using Engine the other day and noticed this too. I keep my songs on the SD card in the same directory structure as my PC (easier for syncing) and just analyze them on the card.

That works well too but the database does need to be copied externally from the card as backup.

I have even engine dj copied to the usb drive… so I can use AND have in the files all together and I don’t have to sync tracks. Issue that I have that the tracks on the usb are not seen in 4.1 from the laptop installed Engine DJ AND not from the decks. I can acccess the files on the usb drive from the decks, but can use the meta data (BPM, key)

I decided to rebuild the collection, meaning adding playlist (per genre 1) and then add the files (which are located on the USB) to those Playlist genres. Currently this not working. I can drag tracks to the playlist, but this not a track to collection. I can do this if the file is located on anohter USB drive or on the local HD. I think Engine DJ “see” the Egine library with database files on it, not excepting tracks from that side.

I currently make a backup of the USB drive.

I had backups from the database files on the usb drive. Also a backup from engine dj running on the laptop, but I guess that was also screwed due to the upgrade to 4.1.

Long story short: for short term I could downgrade to 4.0.1. were all is fine. I have to check if my deck see the collection also after downgrading. But that would be only a short term solution.

So, with Desktop 4.0 you do have all the data or is all lost?

If I run 4.0.1 on the desktop, I can see the collection on the desktop. The decks are on 4.1 there I can’t see the collection. So I will try later to downgrade the decks to see if the collection is visible.

The backup of the usb drive is almost finished then I can do some more testing/restoring

Player back to 4.0 should work.

Might be interesting to get your 4.0 database to see what’s happening. I’ll let you know.

Any solution found to correct it?
