I turn the telly on and see Musk and Trump bickering like petty little children, then I sign on here and see the same thing happening here - come on, guys - we are better than this.

Problem has been the same for years. Stu C and Pasha rule the roost here and the mods won’t do anything about it.

I was just expressing my opinion that a community exists so that everyone can also express their opinion, companies create these spaces precisely for this, STU, from what I can see, is an intelligent guy who researches and knows how to help many members of the community in many matters, however, he has some attitudes that I disagree with, those who have to respond to any demand for new resources, questioning of dates among other dissatisfactions of the members, are the company employees / moderators and not the members of the community.

Good thing this mod is Dutch who hates the cancel culture then
Both named members will take fresh air when needed to and asked for.

Maybe we need to start modding like the neighbor’s forum. Then most of the brand-negative posts wouldn’t even exist either, I guess. “All stable and no issues whatsoever”.

Seems like we’re having fanboy-ism vs. it’s-all-crap lately. Must be the weather. Glad most of us are still somewhere in the middle btw. Not all good; not all bad. Thank the lord for those people. :+1:t2:

What I find mindblowing are the members that are in a ‘certain’ group to help get the needed stability plus evolution to Engine, but complain that nothing ever happens for years. :expressionless_face:

Listen, I made this post without any bad intentions and without wanting to spark debates or conflicts between users. I’m a DJ who loves and uses Denon DJ, and I perform entirely dependent on Engine OS, playing everything live from a USB. I made this choice based on Denon and Engine’s philosophy of innovation — the new features they’ve already brought and those rumored to come in the future — through new hardware with modern functions and updates that will contribute to a technological revolution in the DJ world.

As for what a user told me — that Denon and Engine are not obligated to provide free improvements — here’s my response: we live in the modern era of technology, and every system wants to evolve. Improvement is also Engine’s goal — with every new update, it increases its value, first and foremost for itself, for its brand, and to gain ground in the DJ software world and attract more users — and of course, that also benefits me as a user.

If anything should become paid, it could be Engine Desktop — if it evolves to support controllers that work with laptops, like Serato or others. But saying Engine OS updates should be paid would be like saying Apple should charge for iOS updates when the system is already inside the phone. Engine OS comes with the hardware — it’s an inseparable system.

In conclusion, I was simply expecting a bigger update — at least a 4.4 version — because maybe asking for a 5.0 right now would be too much. Since we’ve gotten used to Engine growing rapidly and constantly bringing new features, that’s where my post came from.

Wishing all of you the best.

I think we enjoy great freedom of expression on this forum, which many on the neighbor’s forum probably envy.

Unfortunately, the downside is that many indulge in things they would never dare to do on the neighbor’s forum.

I believe this was directed at me, forgive me for exaggerating and even being unfair in my words, I am really discouraged by the instability of the system and I exaggerated in my words, in response to your observation, I have always tried to contribute as much as possible in the requests for new features, in pointing out bugs and instabilities, not only me but also other members, I know that the team strives to change this scenario and I continue to anxiously await this moment, but with each event I suffer with the same slowness, with the same stuttering and this is very tense, suddenly this is the reason for the nervousness mixed with dissatisfaction, this is intensified when you want to expose a point (mainly negative) and some members try to silence you, in fact, I believe this is one of the reasons why many do not expose themselves here. But, once again, I apologize and life goes on.

if I were inmusic I would favor users who don’t complain and make those who complain wait for updates, so as to realize what they write, that is, that they go to the competition to see how many updates they release over there! haha I took my rx3 to assistance yesterday, bought in February, used 4 times counted because it doesn’t work! and instead I always use my two prime 4 plus which work wonderfully! I tried to write on the pioneer forum but I didn’t get any response!! What are you waiting for, complainers, to go to the competition!!

Same for me. But this is where I would like to say I’m fine with a slowdown on major feature updates. I’d prefer the software team to see if they can optimise performance with the current feature set for a while. On the whole I’ve found each release to be pretty solid and have clocked up many live hours with the X1850 and SC6000s (I’ve had them since release). They have been reliable with one exception last week on v4.3.1 where I had one deck’s GUI stop responding to any input, even to a power-down button press. This needed me to pull the power cable (and wait for the power reserve to drain) before rebooting and continuing. For anyone wondering what the point of modular gear is vs. all-in-ones - this is why I prefer modular - the party never knew anything happened, except for the sweat dripping from my forehead.

Yeah, also wouldn‘t mind a, lets say, 6-month moratorium where EngineDJ releases would be 100% focused on optimizations and fixes, with zero new functionality features (minus some desktop/preparation-related one, if capacities remain).

Would boost reliability, trust and satisfaction and soothe the complainers.

I‘m aware that there are some bigger things happening in the background for a while, but lets keep this approach in mind - certainly a balancing act between the product/marketing and engineer/dev teams, yet, I am sure the userbase would appreciate it.

Greetings from Palermo, in bella :italy:!

I find it insane to read some comments like yours, let me see if I understand, do you defend the stance of punishing members who complain in a community created exclusively to receive suggestions, compliments and complaints? In other words, can you only smile and praise?:rofl::rofl::rofl: Don’t you think that’s a bit strange?:thinking::thinking: Review your concepts my friend, everyone needs to have the right to express themselves, what is good for you, may not be good for me.

I totally agree - although 6 months might not be the time needed - but I appreciate that you might have just used that as a starting point.

The potential risk could be, the rise in volume of those voices yelling “Denon DJ don’t listen to their customers” when despite 6 months of firmware release notes show 37 or so bullet points starting with “ fixed issue where occasionally, under certain conditions x would happen”

You’ve got a great idea there though.

Thank you for speaking your mind, being respectful, and not accepting the bologna that all these fanboys spew constantly.

I can’t tell if they are actually this close minded and fragile, or if they have stock in Denon so they just try to manipulate the narrative to keep it all from tanking, who knows.

I can tell you though that there are people here who do listen, who do have open minds, and who spend 2000$ on a product and expect it to work, even after an update.

There is a huge irony in the constant fanboyism, while also suggesting it’s your fault for taking on an update without first having some YouTuber confirm it’s not a degredation. You can either trust Denon to do things correctly, or you can not trust them and understand there are flaws in what they are doing.

It doesn’t go both ways.

But, that being said, I’ve just started ignoring specific people and focusing on communicating with the forum members who aren’t spineless, understand their way isn’t the only way, and want to see improvements.

I would recommend that everyone sat down with something like Visual Studio Code and write a small, self-contained C++ program that plays an audio file through ALSA and builds for the ARM (32-bit) platform and then runs on either Raspberry Pi or their DJ deck (yes, you can actually do that), just to see the amount of brain damage you get from getting it all to work seamlessly, starting from the build toolchain.

This will give perspective on how incredible it is that we get these updates for free and at the pace they are coming in, especially when looking at the wages of C++ programmers (possibly the highest earning group of programmers).

Add in all the specialized Linux and embedded platform knowledge and you come to realize it’s a straight up miracle that the updates are free.
