Denon Prime GO 2 (Suggestions)

That all comes down to individual preference. I wouldn’t want it any other way than it is currently - it’s easily the most logical placement, to me. And I do hope Denon won’t remove the Cue-button entirely.

There are a few changes I’d love to see on the Go, but this surely isn’t one of them - to me, that would be a (big) downgrade rather than an upgrade.

Customer feedback and average user and semi-pro and pro with RECENT standalone products for comparison.

I can tell you that at one time Denon had made a very positive buzz and now… for a few months it’s the opposite!

But hey, it’s not Denon’s fault, unless they could have limited the thing by telling some influencers/testers to delete the videos and the worst part of all this is that Alphatheta is playing with that.

But fall! Since we don’t care about feedback from customers or potential customers!

I think that a medium-sized standalone product could boost the few sales of the brand, if it has a Play button with a standardized location (STANDALONE like the latest ones recently released)!

The best-selling standalone products in small and medium sizes are: the MixeStream Pro and Pro + (powered by a Krisdonia or Litionite type power generator), Mixstream Pro Go and almost no more Prime Go and the Omni Duo for the Pro Pio. (I give as an example the feedback from my friend from the Star’S Music store).

Okay. Cue button is where it is supposed to be when horizontal. Adapt. End indeed.

Can Ableton Link be sent via USB in Engine 4.0?

I am thinking of an app called Link to Midi, which allows your phone to act as a Ableton Link connection via your phone. The USB of your phone sends the Ableton Link midi clock to any Drum Machine, Sampler etc, that receives USB midi in. I have used it and the timing is really tight

I wonder is this possible with a software update?

No, Link works over wireless or wired network connection. The Link to MIDI app converts Link to MIDI because Link doesn’t use MIDI/USB.

Yes just as I thought, but could they convert link to midi within Engine DJ and send it via USB as an update, with the option to turn it off.

No need for a phone are any other similar device, just a USB cable from a Denon Prime Go to a Drum Machine etc…that has USB midi in

Found the stanton with your preferred layout

Pitch fader is mirrored though …

If it wasn’t for this thread, the location of my Korg Kaossilator would still be a mystery…

I was looking for that damn thing for an eternity, but just couldn’t find it anywhere.

Grabbing the PCDJ DAC3 for the picture the other day, revealed that the little yellow ba****d had been hiding underneath it all the time.

For that I am grateful.

Once again it’s not just my request, it’s also a request for customer feedback from young and old generations. We have 11 stores in France + one in Belgium, I only talked about one where I worked before. Customers buy the products that I indicated in my last post, the Prime Go remains at the bottom of the reserve, because there are 2 reasons for that: the Play/Pause button and the jogwheel called Playskool. The P4+ is a disaster in the sense unfortunately, a large number wanted to buy it for the Stems, we had product returns in the week following their purchases and others tried after several months of patience and like the commitments are 1 month max satisfied/reimbursed, products not returned end up on the second-hand market on the “Bon Coin” site so because of this, these same people no longer want to hear about Denon. We have more Refurb / B Stock products in stock than new ones, in any case they don’t want to bring any more in until the b stock is gone. People who returned their products opted for the ReV7, the Rane Four and Performer, Flx10, basically the controllers working with SDJ Pro. :joy::joy::joy:

I had one of those!

After almost 30 years of posting on forums, I’m still amazed by the ability of the internet to drag out a seemingly mundane subject for far longer than it should. I’m an not going to add anything into the current controversy except to say that I’ve been DJing exclusively on the prime go for 2.5 years now at both small and medium sized events (maybe 100 people). It is a fantastic piece of kit with more power than people give it credit for.

The layout is unique (except that bit, that’s normal), but takes no time to get used to.

The pitch faders can be a bit fiddly, but it’s a compact unit, so compromises have to be made.

I have to agree with whoever suggested and usb (or SD), and usb c for charging.

Other than that just a few tweaks to the feel of some of the faders, I’m happy.

Really like the size, portability and no need for a laptop. I don’t own the unit, but seriously thinking of buying one, but I may wait a little bit longer to see if they bring out a new unit.

I use a Pioneer DDJ 400 and MacBook for small gigs, but I feel the fader are a bit fiddly as well, it works OK if you have it on the lowest pitch range, but not practical.

Ha. I really love the tiny Prime Go stacked up next to CDJs in a full club, like “I don’t need that big ol’ fancy stuff to rock this club”. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve played a number of large gigs with just the Prime Go and there’s something almost illicit in how it feels to get away with playing full-scale sets on such small, easy gear. Honestly, I’ve been loving this thing way more than I expected and sometimes prefer playing with it over a fullscale 2xCDJs+mixer setup.

But also, I would really love to see larger meters and vertical EQs. The current horizontal EQs are plenty easy to use, as many users mentioned, but I just can’t help feeling like it feels a little more intuitive and helps get my brain out of the way to have them vertical. I do like the idea of moving the browsing knob to a corner of the device to make room for the EQs and meters, since the browse doesn’t need to be in that central real estate. I’d love to see the cue mix and volume knobs on the front panel, and I think they could be easily swapped with the mic volume knobs, since those don’t need adjustment nearly as often during a gig. Also, multiple USB ports and USB-C charging are both definite yeses! But I will say that I am not a fan of moving the hot cue and loop knobs away from the jog wheels. I think those need to be front and center and quick to access next to the other deck features.

But I love the idea of updating the Prime Go! Keep it going!

Yeah, quite a few sound-guys said “oh, that’s such a cool little device” when I’ve plugged it in :joy: I’ll play on the Go over CDJs any day!

Yes the idea of moving the hot cue and loop buttons away from the jogwheel was to make room for a longer pitch fader, that being said from reading a few comments online, some people are not happy with the feel of the buttons, and they could be more responsive so that maybe a better upgrade.

I hear that. I know that many folks, esp olderschool vinyl djs, prefer long pitch faders to be able to more easily ride tempo adjustments and that makes sense. Personally, I tend to play more with the music itself and don’t feel like my time spent pushing the tempo fader add much to the dancers’ experience. I like layering loops and hot cues, effects and cross cuts, etc so I’m more than happy to use BPM Sync to give me more time/freedom to play with other aspects of the song. I feel like the Prime Go fits this style well since it sacrifices a lot in terms of jog wheels and other oldschool turntable-like features but has great access to all the fun new stuff (loops, hot cues, rolls etc), so I feel like having a short tempo fader is a perfectly reasonable compromise. But I realize I might be in the minority here :stuck_out_tongue: And yeah, I’d love to see a little more responsiveness in some of the buttons. The rubberiness of the Hot Cues and Load buttons is kinda weird, and could be nicer if they were a little “clickier” and easier to activate. The Cue and Play buttons are also a little “hard” for my taste and could be a little more easy to click. Hopefully we’ll get a Prime Go 2 with all these refinements. But honestly, most of these seems more like a minor iteration than a full generation update, so I’m not holding my breath…

Smaller pitch fader not a big issue, the longer pitch fader is nice for making finer adjustments specially when the software has trouble analyzing the track to the grid. I know it still can be done on a smaller pitch fader, but you narrow your BPM range.

Some of the places I played in, it wouldn’t make a difference what you added to the dancers’ experience, there usually off their heads

Nobody is dancing these days anyway, zombies stood with phones. In fact it’s usually the ‘DJ’ prancing around like a demented rabbit and stress testing the cue button.

The most positive interaction I have with punters now is at vinyl nights, otherwise we’re just guys stood in the corner pressing buttons.
