hi all, I have tried various ways of importing Apple Music files into engine, but for the life of me I cannot get it to see album artwork on m4a files only on mp3’s - does anyone know of a file converter or is this an engine software bug?
Do you see the artwork on the file in finder or explorer? I found a lot of recent downloads have not embedded the artwork in the file but is shown in the Apple Music app when using Catalina, not had the issue with Big Sur.
Hi @Andymantium Happy to help. Have you tried re-importing the track information? You can do this by right clicking on the tracks and selecting “re-import track information”. If all else fails, we can take a closer look and connect you with a technical support agent. Feel free to dm us if this doesn’t solve your issue.
Hi Anthony, thanks for your input, I have tried re-importing the track information and it still isn’t seeing the artwork, I have also noticed that a lot of purchased tunes have not been imported as well. Are some iTunes tracks still drm?
Hi Anthony, there is no longer an option to share xml file in Apple Music, so this hasn’t worked
has this problem affected any other users, I don’t want to cause anyone any headaches but the only alternative is to stream everything from tidal and everyone’s wifi is hit & miss
many thanks for your help sir!
Gotcha - Can you DM me your information so that we can consult with a technical support agent? Please feel free to send me your name, email, and phone number so we can take a closer look.
I have nothing but trouble with Apple purchased music and album artwork. The problem is with Apple. The artwork doesn’t always always appear when you first download the track. Don’t know why but I’ve used this workaround. Messy but works. First download when purchased as normal so it shows in music. Then any that don’t show artwork delete from the library then hide by right clicking on the track. Log in to your iTunes account and go to downloads and purchases click on manage and unhide the hidden ones. Then click on the cloud icon in each track to download again. If the artwork is available it normally then shows up.
I have the exact same issue. The artwork is displayed ok in finder. Mp3 files show artwork in Engine DJ (2.0) but not .m4a files. I tried re-importing, deleting, re-downloading and etc. without success…
Is this issue already resolved? As I bumped into this thread while searching about missing album art in Engine DJ.
My M4A files do not show artwork in Engine DJ.
Thanks for your quick answer.
Yes, these come from iTunes/Apple Music. These are new files, recently purchased. I always leave them in the Music file structure, I do not move them around. And as I view them in the Finder, the album art is shown, so it seems to be available in the m4a file.
IMO you need to check with a suitable tag editor whether the artwork really is in the file, as (see the posts above) it’s a known thing that Apple associate the artwork with the file via their database but it’s not embedded.
You are right: when viewing the file with tag editor light the art is not visible.
On the other hand: If I add it manually in tag editor and re-import the information in Engine DJ it is still not visible. So not completely clear where the problem is here… :-/
