DDJT have done a video comparing the 2, most of it we already know but an interesting watch nevertheless.
Mm this could have been posted into the existing AZ topic, but anywaysâŚ
i am watching it right now
Sorry, feel free to move it over Reese, im happy with that.
i hope in the future update we got those missing feature we ask for
What features are they?
in the library mode, edit, star rating, color code direct on the controller and also in the software
The âmatchâ function does most of that, obviously not ratings or colour, but it does allow filtering on the other stuff.
Track rating directly on the unit is probably the feature I miss the most since switching to Denon, itâs amazing that itâs still not implemented after all these years.
This is probably one of the main reasons why I spend more time using my LC6000s with VDJ than my SC6000Ms under Engine OS.
Especially since itâs one of the most popular feature requests.
Yeah fully agree on that one, i dont use rating at all as i dont really spend any time on the desktop app preparing, i would use it on device all the time though.
I hate spending time doing prep on the desktop software, having to listen to tracks one by one to evaluate them there is boring as hell.
I would rather be able to do it directly on the unit during practice mix sessions, it is so much more fun than sitting in front of your computer screen doing click & play.
Yeah mine is done at the gig mainly, but also will have a flick through at home if i get time, never on the laptop though.
i was saying about colour n rating, make it more easy for workflow
Okay so, bottom line is that they should have called it XDJ-XZ+ ⌠hehe
Hahahahaha, now thereâs a thought.
DDJT might have clawed back some credibility if they hadnât used a comic book font for the video
This time they were more fair and didnât miss a ton of features, like they did at times with older comparison videos.
The AZ is cool but just too big, heavy and overpriced. And then you have that giant beast with plenty of space on the rear panel, but leave out an SD slot, the Send/Return, LAN hub and even the Aux In (or four proper RCA input pairs, like on the P4). At that price I also expect a Magvel CF, but itâs a generic one and not even replacable easily (same for the Opus Quad).
Anyway⌠most people in the comments vote for team Denon, but the (few) common negative points they share are something I agree with:
- Bigger jogs needed (I think 7" would be a feasable compromise)
- A more conventional mixer layout (like on the X1850 or SC Live4)
- More robust + replacable linefaders
- Similar overall footprint and price
- Stems, obviously
- (a DMX out port would be dope, honestly)
That shows that the P4/+ is still a fantastic overall package, thanks to the many free updates we got! Opus Quad still hasnât received any of the promised features, lol.
Always they go on about the size of your jog wheels and the âclub standardâ.
Do you drive a car? Is it the âClub Standardâ? If I gave you my car would you sit there bewildered or would you be able to start it up and drive off? Same thing.
Jog wheels: sure, bigger jogs on the prime 4 would make it look more impressive for punters who still need to see something that looks like a 12â record on there to accept itâs a DJ setup they could jiggle while making wakka wakka noises. Fine. Make them bigger.
For the cash you save on the technically superior P4 (live beat grid edit, streaming services etc) you can always rent some CDJs when you get that phone call to headline Tomorrowland. Otherwise order that AZ, your mix will sound the same, but you might feel happier. Nothing wrong with feeling happier.
I do like the AZ however i feel the logical purchase would be the p4+, if someone had the XZ it makes sense to get the AZ as it is a clear upgrade, I would have bought a p4+ instead of the sc live 4 had the layout followed the x1850 layout, however I doubt the prime 5 layout will change when that is released so I will stick with the sc live 4.
